When he references the MIT guy telling him, "You know, that's a great question sir.  Nobody's ever asked me that before" referring to sinking on an electric boat or fighting off a shark attack.

I realize it reminds me of the Will Ferrell as Harry Caray sketch on SNL years ago with Jeff Goldblum as the Cal Tech Professor, "If you had a choice of being the top scientist in your field or getting Mad Cow Disease?"  Just because nobody's ever before asked a batshit insane question, doesn't make it a good one.  Cherry on top, if you watch the sketch.  Caray, like Trump, talks about staring straight at an eclipse.

Going back to Trump's speech, "They bit off the young lady's leg because of the fact that they were not hungry.  But they misunderstood what, who she was."

I think he thinks sharks have instagram accounts and can figure out who everybody in the ocean is based on their profile pic.  And then choose to engage or not, but sometimes they get confused because all Floridians look alike to them.  Anthony Jeselnik would have a field day with this material.

Is it wrong to hope that Trump ends up like captain queeg on the stand in the Caine mutiny?

The man has made hundreds if not thousands of Captain Queen speeches. Hell, all of his speeches are different versions of the missing strawberries and defending cowardice speeches.

Or that most ships over history ran on wind power, which we now know---thanks to him---causes cancer.  Or that 'the Ark' was built by a dark person from the Middle East.  Or the Catamaran boat was developed by Asians from shithole countries in SE Asia and the South Pacific Islands.

His knowledge of maritime vessels is truly another sign he is a gift from Jesus, another avid boatsman.

Also, how has nobody come up with a meme of those boats sinking at his boat parade on Lake Travis a few years back?  With a shark superimposed.

I was thinking the same thing.  I know a guy that lives at Lake Mission Viejo...he's a Trumpkin and he often brags about his tricked-out Duffy.

Trump, and his endless incoherent idiotic ramblings, are the perfect embodiment of the cognitive free fall afflicting 45-55% of American society.

— For various reasons, the public education systems have not been successful with 150-170 million Americans. … Any success with these folks have been completely overrun by evangelicalism/creationism … social media … sports/celebrity worship … conspiracy theory spewing from Q, TV shows, and Hollywood films, etc.

— And these narcissistic idiots think they’re smarter and more special than everyone else … and get very very angry when they learn otherwise. Hence their hatred for liberated women, LGBTQIA, immigrants, and many other groups.

It’s been building for decades. I do not see how democracy survives this overall idiocy. This is the fertile breeding ground for fascism and theocracy.

I dont know what it is - I am a Christian who has ALLLL the social medias, love sports and movies - I worship a few of the actresses, but don't believe in conspiracy theories from anywhere.... so I just think its the stupid that is trying to sink us. they have always been there. we just need to shame them back into their parents' basements.

75 million voted for Trump.  Most of those would have voted for (R) no matter what - Romney and McCain got 60 million against Obama.

It’s the 15-30 million that went batshit that are the problem. With that said, his rallies are still small, they are having to pad them out, and the fact that he is a convicted felon and abortion is his running mate is going to hurt him.  I’m more worried about the idiots on the left who act unhappy with Biden.  Trump will not get more votes than he had in 2020, it’s Biden getting less that’s the problem.

That's the shitty part. We all watch Fox News, just some of us indirectly.

Fox puts out the right wing talking points and the cult repeats it. Even people who don't literally watch Fox News hear those talking points being hammered in unison within hours to days.

If you were to just play the audio and tell him it's an 'Astonishing Tale of the Sea' involving sharks with freakin' electric boat batteries attached to their heads (and alter the speed of playback), I bet he'd give a listen.

Again I am reminded how blessed I have been. My FIL, may he Rest In Peace, (fuck spellcheck) kept his cognitive dissonance to the need for Ma Bell to connect the rurals. Agreed with him, of course, but couldn’t help him break through to the other side.

Anytime a MAGA relative puts something out that seems a little too polished, I need only to do a quick search and find where they got it from.  The programming of the cult is real.

Wouldn't the shark, assuming it was closing in range from 10 yards, also get electrocuted by the battery sinking underwater?  Or does it have like X-SharkMan superpowers like "Elektrokenisis" where it can absorb and manipulate electricity. and not only remain uninjured but able to burst the electricity back at some other target?  And wouldn't that presuppose then, there are other shark mutants with powers?  Like, is another shark that can manipulate the metal of the boat/battery to make it sink in the first place?  Is there another shark, using its fins---can hurl cards through the water and slash through scuba divers suits?

I think we could have a comic book out about this within a week.  Keep Eric engrossed in it until the end of the decade, and probably have movie rights within 18 months.  X-Men meets Jaws.  I'd watch that movie, especially the part where the President realizes his conundrum of doom like the other actual X-men movies.

So wanting a definitive answer on what exactly would happen to the battery (already full well knowing I wouldn't get electrocuted) I hit the google machine.  Got as far a "would you get el" when it automatically popped up with "would you get electrocuted if an electric boat sank". LOL  The man is a fucking idiot, but he does draw a lot of eyeballs.

BTW, I did click a few links and ended up on reddit (as you do when you ask a question on the internet).  The question there was "If you were on a sinking ship powered by electricity and you knew there was a shark 10 yards away from the ship, would you stay on the ship and risk electrocution or would you jump off the ship and risk swimming with the shark?".

I honestly can't tell if some of those people are really just way funnier than I am or if they really took that question seriously.  My favorite answer turned out to be "Am I the slowest swimmer on board? Am I currently bleeding?". The old "don't have to outrun the bear" conundrum. Just with sharks. Now we just need to add lasers.

My FIL has no problem telling everyone he watches Fox News, and if you visit their house, you will be watching it also. However, when they are at my house, I just ask that he not use my profile when logged into the TV to watch Fox News. It messes up the stupid algorithm of recommended channels and moves that shit to the very front. Apparently he watches so much of it, that he can completely mess up my recommended channels in one day and it takes weeks for it to fall off. Very fucking annoying. Of course he plays the victim, I'm telling him what he can and can't watch, and then he eventually turns it into a joke. Shit really pisses me off.  However, I can't show him that, or he wins. Yes, he very much is an all-around asshole.  Not just about Fox fucking News.

This is none of my business, but why would you allow that channel to be on in your house? I've been in spots where I've had to sit down on a couch in front of a tv playing Fox, but I couldn't imagine that happening in my home.

What's more annoying to me than my in-laws watching FoxNews or my cousins doing the same when they have us over in Hays County.  Is they put it on, and set the volume at an insane level.  And don't really pay attention.  It's just like soothing white noise to them.  If you want to sit intently and watch just by yourself at a reasonable volume, that's one thing.  But to just blare it while we all socialize and cook and kids play so you can just be comforted by the voice of Jesse Watters.........that's fucking insane.

Invariably, when people come over.......I do what I always do.....put on some background music.  My own playlist, quiet classical, even the kids' favorite artists.  And wife tells me it's too loud for her family.  And it's 10/50.  Her parents put on FoxNews at 45/50 and it's "Well, they like to keep up to date with current events."  Well, CURRENTLY...I'm fucking annoyed at this event.

This.  If you have guests over, it should be sports or music.  Not ever TV news.  Unless like, 9/11 suddenly happened and you had to change the channel.
