There's gonna be plenty of Trump related stuff to piss and shit on. Every rural county in America is gonna build a statue of this guy when he finally croaks.
Wouldn't be surprised to see some dirt poor shit hole region try and build some massive Christ the Redeemer style monstrosity. Of course it'll be made of asbestos and sealing wax and paid for by taxpayers.

There will be a school named after him. It will be a charter school, funded completely with vouchers, that never reports its accountability scores.

Regarding that "endorsement" - Trump had been wanting to endorse Greitens until more and more shit came out about him so he's doing this to say he endorsed Schmitt after he wins IMHO. Simply too proud to admit he was planning on backing another loser.

Charter schools would be perfect for him. You raise capital, put friends and family on the board, award contracts to friends, family, accept bribes, launder money, accept public funding, give green cards for teachers, then go out of business.

The only thing holding him back is that he thinks charter schools are flight schools. And he doesnt believe enough people want to become pilots. No matter how many times Betsy Devos told him, he would never understand.

He's even got the Charter School slogan--MAGA.

Well, because Greitens is the openly racist wife abuser and serial adulterer, I think we can guess which one he means.

He's betting on two horses. Trump is very cognizant of his "scorecard" and wants to be able to claim a "win" whichever Eric wins.

Why does this never filter down to the magats?  Or does it and they just don't care?

Thanks to people like Tucker and Orban, I'm pretty sure they see being Putin-like and Russia-like as an advantage.  As 956 says, they've become Kremlin-curious.

Exactly. The majority of the GQP block abandoned rationale thought and analysis years ago.

The ONLY thing that matters is that the evil, leftist,  socialist democrats get crushed. If being a russian dick puppet is the way to achieve those means, that's a hell of a lot better than having a black man as president. I mean what's so wrong with buddying up with a despot eager to restore the glory of the former USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics)

What's kind of comical is that pre-Trump, many of the more thoughtful of that ilk would have said the problem with socialism is not so much the socialism part, but that it so easily leads to dictatorship and authoritarianism.

Now it's perfectly ok to bypass the socialism and go straight to the dictator.

Cool, so when does he get to do it again?  There seems to be no end to the appeal/delay process in our justice system.

Well by way of explanation, as you are probably aware, there were a spate of lawsuits against Trump for inciting the events of 1/6, filed within weeks or months of each other following 1/6

Some were filed quicker than others and it seems that this is the "second batch" of them.  To which Trump asserted his absolute immunity defense by way of a motion to dismiss.

This has nothing to do with appeals or delays, it's just there was a first batch that Mehta denied the motion to dismiss, and then a second batch.  The timing of the rulings is pretty much dictated by the timing of the lawsuits.  He even said, "I'm not going to repeat myself, see 'first batch.'"

But, more to your point, there ultimately will be appeals of these suits, on a schedule dictated seemingly by the entry of final judgment in each of them (that's when you normally appeal, sometimes you can get away with it before that time), and then, after the appeal, a petition to the Supreme Court.

So, as I suspected, nothing will ever come of any of this and we'll all just move on and watch the country implode because the rich have figured out the law does not apply to them.

Well, if you don't like Merrick Garland, try Thomas Windom on for size.  He apparently has been running the show since at least April.

“I’ve tried cases vs Windom and he’s a bastard but I really do like him a lot. I’m glad he’s on this because he’s a bastard,” tweeted Maryland criminal defense attorney Mirriam Seddiq after the New York Times reported Windom was brought on to explore whether broader crimes were committed related to the Jan. 6 insurrection beyond the Capitol invasion.

Lol.

Dick Cheney can stick his new found principles and that stupid hat up his colostomy bagged asshole.

He’s part of the preamble to our current mess.

Fuck him.

This is where I have to disagree with you.  He has a different, more conservative political philosophy than you.  And that was normal and expected in a two-party democracy.  That is healthy in democracy.  But it never involved the type of bullshittery that Trump infected the party with.  And that shit has caused irreparable harm to our democracy.  But Bush/Cheney were not the preamble to Trump.

The Unitary Executive Theory might disagree with you.

The hell they weren’t. Bush/Cheney foreshadowed Trump in a thousand different ways and I’ve pointed them out often. Trump just turned it all up to eleven.

The return of the Imperial Presidency, the promotion of the Unitary Executive Theory and the expansion of presidential powers. The stupidity and incompetence of the executive. The war on science. Trampling on public education. The politicization of government institutions. The tearing up of treaties like the Geneva Convention. (We don’t torture! Torture is only good at forcing false confessions.) Ignoring intelligence that doesn’t fit your policy. When Joe Wilson proved false their claim that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy yellowcake uranium from Niger, they retaliated by outing his CIA agent wife Valerie Plame. How Trumpian is that? Preventing gay marriage was a central plank on Bush’s re-election platform. Cheney didn’t support it but he went along with it. Bigotry was alive and well in the Bush/Cheney administration. And the Nixonian influence on both Cheney and Roger Stone is unmistakable.

That’s just off the top of my head.

There were some precursors to today in Bush II, also Bush I, and Reagan.

But Unitary Executive Theory, while frequently invoked by name by the Bush II Administration, has basically been an operating principle of all of em going back to Reagan.  It's a side effect of congressional gridlock.

Excellent recap.

But the important thing, imo, is that he's calling out Trump now. I question his motives (because Cheney is basically Satan personified), but as Norman Lear said, "Next!".

Look forward, not to the past.

I'd also include in the list above the cynical pandering to the christian crowd.
