You were inside the XC-99?  How old are you man?

I flew one with Armybrat over Macho Grande.  Buddy was the bombardier.  I forget who the tailgunner was.

I just saw one as it was being reassembled at an AFB.  Just the belly, not cockpit.  I think it's made of antique doilies.

There was only one.  I saw it in pieces in OH, then again in pieces in AZ.

this woulda been mid-90's at one of the San Antonio bases.  It was still largely in tact but not completely.

SIAP but does the current impeachment effect Trump’s pardon power? It would be hi-larious if he was unable to pardon himself, the kids and Putin as planned.

No.  To curtail any of his powers he'd have to be removed.

Nope, he has all the trimmings of the office in full force until either removed by the Senate or 11:59a-EST on Wednesday.

In fact, he will now take more advantage of them.  You would think he'd go out pardoning allies, marshal resources, remove some non-loyal folks from office, line up some contracts for his family and his businesses for after office, line up donors, etc.  But instead he'll go golfing in Scotland.

I thought the Scots said thanks but no thanks?

No they said, "If it's not Scotish, it's crap!"

Actually, I dunno.  I read his travel office said he'd be there during the Inauguration.  But I also know they didn't want him to come in and it was a legal question of if you don't arrive via their customs/airports...and just land AF1 and get right into a private motorcade, you can enter without coming from a Covid hotspot.

But I'd love to see his face while he's stuck on some chilly, rainy tarmac in Scotland looking pissed while his aides try to negotiate with local authorities (who hate him).  If nothing else, his team has proven time and time again---they can fuck up travel logistics like nobody else.  I'm guessing he just eventually flies back to Mar-a-Lago next Wednesday/Thursday.  Be a damn shame when the Scotland air strip is all out of fuel before they turn-around.

If I were him, I would just go on a US Tour on AF1.   Visit all the sights.   Fly over Yosemite and do a low altitude pass past El Capitan.   Fly some place just for lunch.   Why not?

"Mr. president, you want to go see the Statue of Liberty?"

Trump, "You know, I lived my whole life in New York and I've never been there..."

2 divorces, 2 mentally challenged children, 2 impeachments, 2 congressional chambers lost ('18 House and '20 Senate), 2 popular votes lost, bankrupted the same casino 2 times, 2 incited riots...........but a 2-stroke handicap in golf.  WINNING!

They should make him pronounce any place they go correctly before they go.

He had four years to go where he wants and he spent most of it funneling money to himself through his properties. He only cares about seeing places that his name is on.

It should be. I don't think any serious historian thought he would surpass James Buchanan.

In watching tonight’s trump video, I actually think that Twitter hurt trump over the years by waiting so long to ban him. If they had banned him in 2017, he very well could have been re-elected.

He would have had time to get onto another service, help grow the membership and be big, big, big.    But waiting until now, it cut him out when he had last gasps of outrage to spew.   And now he can't do it.

Trump was oozing fear in that address. He knows the civil lawsuits and criminal charges are coming. He has burnt every bridge, and is terrified.

Fuck him.

Per CNN sources:

- trump in self-pity mode

- no one is around him really

- expect a shit ton of pardons coming down maybe starting tomorrow because he wants to change the narrative and pardons give him pOwEr

Where has all that Trump bravado gone? This motherfucker is a boring milquetoast now. “Please be nice. Don’t litter. Let’s all get along.”

Trump’s a broke-dick dog at this point. Any MAGA idiot who was going to risk their life and freedom to storm the inauguration has to be rethinking those plans now. He called them to arms on January 6 and then sold them out to save his own ass. Why risk anything to defend the pathetic shell of a man that just appeared on TV to beg everyone to hug it out?

I’m starting to think next week will be a nothingburger.

Imagine if he had done something like that back in early November and conceded.

This is the day Trump truly became president.

Why?  Because Trump is beside the point and these people just want to be mouthy assholes so they'll go to DC and raise hell anyway.

Two popular vote losses, two impeachments.

Man our history books are going to be fucked up.

here is my favorite part:

today - "yeah, he got impeached twice, but once was right at the end and it was only because democrats hated him."

10 years from now - "yeah, he got impeached twice, but once was right at the end."

20 years from now - "yeah, he got impeached twice."

Well, the Constitution does read "...he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment."

I would read that as he can't pardon people (in other offices) from impeachment.  But it could also be interpreted as meaning that he can't pardon anybody (himself, rioters, any piece of shit who helped) for crimes related an impeachment case.  It's not like it's every been tested.

I would say even 20 years from now it would be "yeah, he got impeached twice, once related to his involvement in the storming of the Capitol."  I think that event will be better remembered than the impeachment in 20 years.

yeah, who knows what people will remember.  trump slammed 250+ years worth of controversies into one term.

it still bothers me that people think the first impeachment was about russian collusion.  and that shit was only a year ago.

The latter is the better argument. But as you say, it’s never been tested before.

Somewhere out there is a top-notch Plaintiff's attorney just foaming at the mouth to represent Brian Sicknick's family in a wrongful death lawsuit against Donald Trump.
