And the name of that 'Big Business Guy' friend of Donald Trump's?

You guessed it.

Tito Puente.

The smirk to the camera when Tucker tries to laugh along to Trump's idiotic ramblings about Xi not participating in small talk like baseball game scores is the look of the guy who texted how much he despises Trump & can't be ready to be rid of him forever.

Federal prosecutors probing the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol have in recent weeks sought a wide range of documents related to fundraising after the 2020 election, looking to determine if former president Donald Trump or his advisers scammed donors by using false claims about voter fraud to raise money, eight people familiar with the new inquiries said.

Special counsel Jack Smith’s office has sent subpoenas in recent weeks to Trump advisers and former campaign aides, Republican operatives and other consultants involved in the 2020 presidential campaign, the people said. They have also heard testimony from some of these figures in front of a Washington grand jury, some of the people said.

The eight people with knowledge of the investigation spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing criminal investigation.

The fundraising prong of the investigation is focused on money raised during the period between Nov. 3, 2020, and the end of Trump’s time in office on Jan. 20, 2o21, and prosecutors are said to be interested in whether anyone associated with the fundraising operation violated wire fraud laws, which make it illegal to make false representations over email to swindle people out of money.

The new subpoenas received since the beginning of March, which have not been previously reported, show the breadth of Smith’s investigation, as Trump embarks on a campaign for reelection while assailing the special counsel investigation and facing charges of falsifying business records in New York and a separate criminal investigation in Georgia.

The subpoenas seek more specific types of communications so that prosecutors can compare what Trump allies and advisers were telling one another privately about the voter-fraud claims with what they were saying publicly in appeals that generated more than $200 million in donations from conservatives, according to people with knowledge of the investigation.

Hmmm, I'm sure that would never happen.

I'm not sure I really like that line of inquiry.  I think it would be very difficult to charge Trump himself with any of that, although it would otherwise be pretty salacious stuff.  But, I guess he needs to look at all of it.

Smith is kicking ass and taking names.  Almost makes you wish he was appointed earlier.

I'm not sure we'll know anytime soon, if ever, but I have this feeling that DOJ might have been holding back some pending the Congressional investigation.  Having those two going simultaneously (meaning witnesses before Congress one day, a grand jury the next), would have created a lot of opportunities for delays and problems.

Imagine how hard Steve Bannon will be laughing if Trump gets convicted for fraud over this after after he pardoned Bannon for doing the same sort of grift with his “Build The Wall” scam.

Yes, that is exactly what happened. This portion of the investigation should be over by now.

Probably not him directly since he wouldn't be controlling the messaging/text of the fundraising mailers/emails, but there would definitely be a money trail tied into this stuff.

Of course, based on my spam folder, a whole shitload of people are fundraising off of Trump without him or his PACs having a grasp on things - I occasionally look at those emails and look at the trail they leave behind as well as the links they have to see exactly who is sending them out, and plenty of them are to fly-by-night organizations.

And they also make me realize I should get in on that grift.

"I'm an environmentalist, in my own way" is like something Kramer or Gob Bluth or some crazy tv show character would say, who is completely oblivious.

It’s like a rapist saying, “I’m a feminist, in my own way.”

Or, it’s like Trump had said that too, I guess. Same thing.

Your godking has less than 18 months to live.  Start thinking about your exit plan because the suicide rate in our country is gonna jump 20% in the 90 days afterwards.  And I am going to laugh and laugh and laugh.
