Fuck it, I want total chaos. Let ND butt fuck Saban on a really controversial call with less than a minute left. And let Ohio aggy upset Dabo just for the post game crazy talk that Dabo would throw out for excuses....this would be excellent.

and without a SEC team in the final ESPN would have to shudder its doors.

Spoiler

Alabama is favored by more points than any team in the College Football Playoff's brief history, but the majority of bettors have been undeterred by the historic point spread.

The Crimson Tide are consensus 19.5-point favorites over Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl, the first of two CFP semifinals on Friday (4 p.m. ET, ESPN). Only two bowl games since 1978 have had larger spreads, according to ESPN Stats & Information. The last time the Fighting Irish were bigger underdogs was 2008 against Southern Cal (-32.5).

The historic point spread hasn't slowed down the action on Alabama, with approximately twice as much money having been bet on the Crimson Tide as had been on Notre Dame at multiple U.S. sportsbooks. At FanDuel, nearly 70% of the money that had been bet on the Rose Bowl point spread was on Alabama.

In the Sugar Bowl, the second semifinal on Friday (8 p.m. ET, ESPN), Clemson was a growing favorite over Ohio State. The Tigers opened as around 7-point favorites over the Buckeyes. The line had grown to Clemson -7.5 at several sportsbooks by Friday morning, with lopsided action on the Tigers. Entering game day, 80% of the bets and 79% of the money bet on the Sugar Bowl point spread was on Clemson at William Hill U.S. sportsbooks.

"Until another team like an Ohio State or Notre Dame steps up, the masses will be betting on Alabama and Clemson in the semis every year," Nick Bogdanovich, director of trading for William Hill U.S., said in a release.

Alabama is the odds-on favorite to win the national championship and has attracted big money. Veteran Las Vegas bookmaker Jimmy Vaccaro of the South Point sportsbook reported taking a $125,000 bet on Alabama to win the national title at -185 odds.

Clemson is the second favorite at +275, followed by Ohio State at 10-1 and Notre Dame at 30-1.

Alabama is listed at William Hill U.S. as a 4-point favorite over Clemson in a potential national championship game.

The largest bowl point spreads, according to ESPN Stats & Information have been:

2017 Boca Raton Bowl: Florida Atlantic -22.5 vs. Akron

2020 Myrtle Beach Bowl: Appalachian State -21.5 vs. North Texas

2021 Rose Bowl: Alabama -19.5 vs. Notre Dame

every surler i've seen take a position on this game has said it's a classic big-game domer rape.

it's gameday, and i'm still of the belief that is not going to be the case, book will move the ball, domer will cover and scare bama.  they won't win, but they will cover, and i would not be surprised to see bama have to score last / late to win.

i also think the score will be lower than expected, but the o/u at 65.5 seems about right, going with 34-30 satan.

The only way ND covers is if Saban pulls Bams’s starters early to save them for the NC game.

Fuck Mac Jones. He's a product of the talent around him.

That was my initial impression  of Jones, but after this season, I think he's legit.  He's 250 of 327 passing (76.5% completion percentage) for 3,739 yards, 32 TD's, and 4 interceptions.  That's in 11 games.  Compare that to Tagovailoa's best season in 2018 when he hit 245 of 355 passing (69% completion percentage) for 3,966 yards, 43 TD's, and 6 interceptions and that was over 15 games.  NFL Mock Drafts have Mac Jones going late in the first round or in the second round.

  • immamac changed the title to 2021 Texas Style Rose Bowl - Notre Dame vs Alabama 3PM on ESPN

Seems weird having the Rose Bowl start an hour early, but I guess it doesn't matter since it's indoors and the Rose Bowl in Exile.

Even as a kid I always loved those late sun and sunset shots from California, while it was dark too early this time of year here in Texas.

The Rose Bowl is being played in Texas. That tickles my ribs. Further evidence of the rise of Texas as the  best state in the Union and the decline of what used to to be paradise. Welcome to the latest refugee from California.

Currently sitting at Bama -20 with the OU at 66.  Think I'll sit this one out and just enjoy the game...

Fuck it; I had some free play $ so I threw it at ND and the money line +750 for the lutz.

i don't gamble but if i did i would do the same

19.5 is just insane in a bowl game

I took the money line not the points so the 19.5 doesn't impact my bet.  I need ND to win (a tie will get me a refund).

It was a small amount of free money but I figured it'll keep me entertained until about q2...
