Baker Mayfield is a piece of shit catchall thread

Well, yes, Jerry is THE problem. But Dak isn't exactly a solution.

There is only one solution.

Personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Dak and he’d do fine in a legit organization that hasn’t rotted from the head down for 20 years. He was a fool for not going into free agency.

No one will ever overcome that wretched stink. You could put pat Mahomes on that team and the shitty culture would ruin him in no time.

When he scored against the Giants yesterday and hit em with the Tommy Devito celebration I cackled pretty good.

It just cemented my option that he's a huge piece of shit. I have no proof, but I'm certain he fucks with cats.

What a family.

Baker is suing his father for the  $12,000,000 he apparently was bilked out of…..

So we going with the narrative that he was raised wrong and that's why he's an asshole? I guess that works for me.

I dunno, if his dad owed him $12M and didn't pay up, I'm not so sure Baker is the biggest POS in the story.

Also, didn't Drew Brees famously sue his own mom? I'm sure that was different though right?

Probably just a Lakeway thing. Family reunions must be fun.

What kinda helmets are they buying for nearly $18,000?

You priced helmets lately?

The Vicis stuff goes for $1200 or so.   The higher end Riddells are around $500 each.   Retail pricing, and I'm sure he got some kind of discount.  But the days of $100 helmets for high school kids are long gone.

How does a high school not have helmet costs in their budget? Sure they cost a lot but literally thousands of schools of all sizes and resources are supporting teams including costs of equipment. How is this particular school the only one that needs private donations? Or do schools regularly have private donations for this stuff only only Baker gets the headline?

Your giant programs with community and district support (Lake Travis, etc) sure.   They can cover that.  But you get down to A, 2A, 3A schools...they recondition helmets yearly.  They send them in to get checked out, and if they pass, they can reuse the shell yearly (up to 10 years).  If a helmet ever fails, then it has to get scrapped.

So, a small school like that might budget for a dozen helmets a year, with reconditioning for the rest of their inventory.   Yes, they could make up with pie suppers and other fund raisers, but schools generally just don't have that kind of cash flow to purchase 50 helmets a year.  Source:  I've had two former head coaches live down the street from me.  In the 90's, it would cost around $400 a kid for football.   Today, game pants are around $100 a pair, and jerseys around $70 each.  That's for something simple.  You want to look like Oregon?  Or go with sewn on numbers?  Prices are going to go up.  Helmets and shoulder pads have gone up quite a bit.

Now, I have no idea of the size or district/community support  of the school that Mayfield made the donation to.  But they needed the donation.  And there are hundreds more schools like that coast to coast.

It’s a 1A School that had a floundering football program with really old gear, not very many players, and not much budget. They rehired their old coach and all of a sudden a lot more kids wanted to play and they just were short on gear.
