Pallet of candy corn at WalMart.  Went to Lowes and they had about a 15' tall reaper in the lobby area for $398.

Can't you feel the hint of Fall in the air?   It's right there with the hint of rain.

They've had that shit out at Lowe's since the third week in July. Absolutely ridiculous.

How can you have a Labor Day sale that only lasts for 5 days in August? That's not a Labor Day sale, that's a Middle of August hot as hell sale.

Do people actually use calendars anymore ?

What really pissed me off about it is that they constantly had tow trucks in there after hours. Despite being a gated community with strong assurances of security. But they let in Joe Felon tow truck driver 24/7 because they made a few bucks off of the tows.

Tow truck drivers are human vultures.

TxTow sock identified!  How'd you get a phone in the clink?

I had to get a CT done on my shoulder today. Between the two old deaf guys screaming their maladies and aches at each other and the other talking with the speaker on her phone I felt very surly.

Its a living.  Had this one asshole ditch me after promising me cash if I didn't tow his car.

Well, fuck me.  Back story: the boy lives in Scotland these days, where he's in college (he's home for the summer, but just another coupla weeks).  Last night, he comes upstairs and says "so....I want to try some scotch.  I can't afford it on my own, but we have a lot here.  Can I try a glass?"

Sure, dude.  I pull out a few bottles, explain what different ones offer, etc.  I recommend the Macallen 12 Gold as a good starter (still a $100 bottle, but a good starter).  Pour a couple of fingers over 2 ice cubes.

Sonofabitch loved it.  Poured another glass.  I'm convinced the bastard is gonna kill the bottle before he flies back home.  Goddammit.

I ain’t buying that he spent a school year in Scotland and never tried scotch.

You should be proud, not mad. The boy has taste.
I never understood whisky until I was on a work trip to Edinburgh. Sitting outside under cover at a pub on the golden mile, dank, cool weather, with pours from various whiskys, with that warmth from the whisky. Ah. Then I understood.

I have a decent collection now.

Unfortunately, I can hardly drink anymore. I sleep so poorly anyway, any alcohol at all wrecks my sleep. But man, a nice highlands 18 year sure does hit the spot.

He is wisely on the "poor student, cheap food and drink" budget.  He keeps Tennents in his fridge, and drinks the cheapest pint available at bars.  Then goes out drunk for chippy (£5 fish and chips, their version of late night Taco Bell).  He bitched about taking a girl out and she ordered two £10 cocktails ("twenty fucking pounds, I can't afford that shit, that's like my whole night's drinking budget").

Maybe I'll buy him a bottle next time we visit, as a gift.

I’m not speculating that he has a habit, but there is no possible chance that he spent a school year over there and didn’t give it a try.  That would be like saying I abstained from Keystone Light my freshman year.

Credit card commercials.

Credit karma or something will give you $50 if you aren’t approved. I can’t imagine the rates on somebody that has to go that route. Not sure what the max is in texas but I think it is in the 20+% interest rate?

Credit cards and payday loans aren't made for the prudent people of the world.

Not even remotely close.

With no respect to the drug war, just fucking say no.

That is interesting, I guess I was misinformed.  I thought there was a cap on the max APR.

And speaking of payday loans, I have a friend who has a slew of them in East Dallas all the way over to Commerce.  If you ask him what he does for a living he tells you "I provide money for people who cant do math".

Idk. I don't think Scottish teenagers are hitting the McCallan 12 that hard.

Well, if they're drinking the same way I was at that age....perhaps they down a bottle of "Angus's discount scotch and brake fluid" from time to time.  Back in college, I drank some bourbon brands that would make a trailer park denizen blanche.

I thought that I hated bourbon and scotch when I was in college -- after I graduated I figured out that our frat treasurer only bought cheap and shitty bootleg liquor for our parties.

Edit -- that stuff came from here on North Lamar -- their store brand -- the worst.

there is a cap on interest.  just not in south dakota.  which governs every credit card agreement.

If you have free-loading friends/relatives KD is still the shit. Throw some Paul Masson VSOP in for the cheap bougie ones.

I'm never buying a shitty bottle of whiskey for the rest of my life. $10 5ths of vodka do just fine for me.

Not that I'm judging anyone.

Following some clown car going down 360 yesterday, every five seconds ashing her cigarette out the window. Right about the time we get to 2222 and 360, cigarette butt gets tossed out the window.  Bitch then flips me off for flashing my lights at her.  Like listen here, cunt, this place is one spark away from another 100 acre brush fire before the fire department even gets a call.  Luckily, she looks beyond the age that would allow her to procreate any further.
Was at the beach this past week. Saw cigarette butts on the sand. People who dispose of their butts that's not in a proper way are disgusting pieces of shit

Jeremiah Weed y'all must've had money.

Quite the opposite. We thought it was high class stuff. This is why I didn’t get whisky. I thought it was something to slam to get drunk. It wasn’t until I spent a work weekend in Edinburgh that I understood that it’s something to be savored, enjoyed.

Just left the dentist after a cleaning. When it was time to pay she told me todays visit was covered. I lost my dental insurance when my wife retired, so I ask how that was possible. She said that when I had a crown put on 4 months ago I overpaid and had a $400 credit on my account. "Do you want us to send you a check?" No just keep the money in your bank account and use it for operating capital.

It's the 3rd time it's happened in the last 5 years. My PT had overcharged me almost $800 and kept it quiet for 4 months until a office person told me about it and an MRI office kept $350 for almost 11 months before sending me a check.

Now I just ask when they'll settle with insurance so I can call and get my overpayment back.

Hold music. Especially the looped electronica kind.
Recently I’ve been on hold a lot with USAA processing my hail damage claim. It’s the same music looped over and over, concluding with a “USAA” chant.

Now I’m on hold with Avis trying to rent an after-hours car at Colorado Springs airport. They’re only open from 06:00 to 00:00. Our flight arrives at 23:50 on a Thursday and departs at 06:09 on the following Monday. The website says to call to arrange after-hours rentals. I’m on hold. Same electronica loop over and over.

Makes my ears bleed.
