Hold music. Especially the looped electronica kind.
Recently I’ve been on hold a lot with USAA processing my hail damage claim. It’s the same music looped over and over, concluding with a “USAA” chant.

Now I’m on hold with Avis trying to rent an after-hours car at Colorado Springs airport. They’re only open from 06:00 to 00:00. Our flight arrives at 23:50 on a Thursday and departs at 06:09 on the following Monday. The website says to call to arrange after-hours rentals. I’m on hold. Same electronica loop over and over.

Makes my ears bleed.

Was it this?

Hold music.

I asked Amex to put be back on hold once, because the hold music was some great classical music and was at a great part of the score when they picked up.

They did not oblige.

I would’ve put you back on hold and gone to lunch.

Overly aggressive or overly speedy, assholish drivers.  zipping from lane to lane, tailgating etc..

I wish every single one would get into a bad single car accident.

I feel like an old when I say this but I agree.  Some of these guys are going 100 when traffic is flowing at 30.

Not trivial.  But landing in Seattle at 11 pm and finding out they don’t have your reservation.  Awful feeling. Made worse by the fact we booked on Expedia

I wish sports broadcast producers would teach broadcasters the proper use of the word 'aggression'.  Over / any use of 'aggressiveness' really grinds my gears.

I deal with these on a weekly basis, and definitely have my favorites.  This one is a banger (compared to most).

I find the worst products / support departments have the best / calmest on-hold music, their way of de-escalating pissed off customers.  I still loved my buddy's setup, where he just had an old boombox in the back room with KVET plugged into the MOH port on his phone system, worked like a charm.

“Gotta get untracked!”  No, when a train gets untracked, it’s a disaster. Kinda like the “furk” moment of the aggy rollercoaster.

Nope. They use something Gershwin-esque:

It's a "modern (crap)" Version of Rhapsody in Blue. They started using it (the real version) in commercials in 1987.

When I am first in line at a light, my preferred spot, I treat that light like a drag racer. I will be gone and up to the speed limit within 4 seconds even if it 55MPH.

I used to be like this but there's a ton of red light runners in the DFW. Not just barely but blatantly running it. There's always a little delay from when it turns red for one side and green for the other for this reason. But I've seen people barrel through with no disregard well after the fact. Especially people who are turning left and do it well after red.

I like the 10 second delay now while they let pedestrians get a head start before the light actually changes. Let those people on foot get hit by the red light runners..

I didn’t even notice this until after we left the restaurant.

Look at these suggested fucking tip amounts.

My OCD would have made me tip $34.92 to make the total $188.  If the waitress is hot I would go up to $35.92 because I'm a baller that way.

Did they charge a mandatory 18% tip?  seems those would be the additional optional tip amounts.

No service fee or mandatory tip on the receipt.  As I think about it I think they are just missing the trailing 0 in the % field.  IE, they probably meant to say 20, 25, and 27%.   At least, that's what I'm sticking with.

Amazon emailing me about their new pharmacy bullshit.

I click the "manage your communication preferences" link on the email.

Scroll down the list of bazillion Amazon departments of who I want emails from.

All of them are deselected, including ... that's right ... the Amazon pharmacy.

Who can I sue?

Class action time. Deep pockets and whatnot.

I actually got something similar a week or so ago. Had wayyy too many categories to micromanage the types of spam I could volunteer for, everything was disabled, and I still got spam from them. Ok, report spam and block sender then, I gave you a chance!

When i look up an item on a box store site like target.com, it uses a home store 3 hrs away. And when I touch “current location” to use my local home store, it never works so I have to type in my zip code anyways. Current location has never worked for me

How do get to the point of actually typing. Every website I seem to go to has a slightly delayed pop up that stops you from entering anything until you close it - Sign in Google, 10% off for allowing emails etc.

Weather Channel still thinks I live in Conroe.  4 years later.  Deleted Ap.  Deleted old sign-in. Tried everything.

Sounds like Target and The Weather Channel don't talk to each other...

This is really random...but, super dark window tint.

Not being able to see the car in front of the car in front of me, while navigating I-10 traffic in Houston is annoying.

I always thought that there was some type of law or ordinance that dictated how dark the windows can be. But I see super dark ones all of the time.

In Texas, only on the front 2 windows. And the windshield stripe can't be below a certain line. Other than that, it's free game on how dark you want it.

It's funny to think that whoever composed that has had their jingle heard by virtually everyone in America. Has to be one of the most ubiquitous tunes ever.

On threads like the Rain 2023 thread, posters report what is happening in ____ Zip Code instead of their county/town/neighborhood. Even if it’s one of the 5% of Zip Codes I recognize, there are more precise ways of describing a location than Zip Codes that can cover a wide area.

Yesterday cooking I sliced the tip of my index finger neatly parallel to the nail and right under it. So I had to double Bandaid it, one with the pad across the cut and sticky stuff on the sides of the finger and one wrapped around the finger to hold that one in place since it won’t stick otherwise.

I’ve been making typos with this fat fucking finger all day and I’m super damn surly.

I've spent now 3 Kafka'esque months spiraling through Dante's circus of corporate hell trying to get.... a purchase of $50 software installed on my work laptop using the 'official procedures'.

It involves traipsing through how ever many countless procedures and processes and different internal 'applications' and emailing different teams and people.  This has been a goddamn nightmare.

I've experienced it before.  So I'm not surprised... just disappointed.

This one time I needed to buy a spare laptop charger and it was about $150 from amazon delivered next day, but through our corporate procurement process it took 2 months, and when the item was finally shipped out, total cost was $300, $100 of which went into “expedited shipping & handling”

Ive always felt overpaid but holy hell is there just so much more corporate waste in this organization

They make it a pain in the ass hoping you will just give up and buy it yourself.

Fuck solicitors.

Don't knock at my gotdam door in the evening.

There's even a little sign on the door politely telling you to fuck off.

Don't fucking knock you sorry motherfucker.

If you are that inconsiderate, why in the living hell would I buy something from you.

Burn in hell selfish motherfuckers.

This is unintentionally very good poetic meter.

I'd alter the very last line a bit, though.
