show me the new cars with CD players then...

When my daughter started driving, her car was a 2012 and still had a CD player, so she asked for my CDs and I said go for it. Now she has them all and I have no idea where anything is. I just download everything from the internet and upload it into youtube music (which sucks).

Agree that YouTube music sucks.

Google music was the predecessor and it was great.

Portable does not mean lower quality any more. Full rez and higher-than-CD rez files are readily available these days from Tidal, Roon, etc. I still have shelves and books of CDs, but I ripped them to lossless FLAC files over the years so my physical CD library is now a novelty decoration; the listening source is digital files and it all fits on a portable player or phone.

funny enough, lagging vinyl's revival, is cassettes also seeing its own resurgence.

i kinda get the appeal too: the sound and tactility of opening the case, loading a cassette in the player, snapping the lid shut, etc. sometimes a long and noisy button to initiate play.  it has a more satisfying sensory experience than even operating vinyls.

Can't wait for the Cybertruck to be pimping the cassette player along with the 8-track (and maybe a portable Edison for ArmyBrat).

I think the appeal is that you can be a contrarian hipster douchebag in front of your friends.

Vinyl can be cool and I get why people are into it. Overall I think it's still way inferior to digital but I have like 20 or so records and I'm a young millenial. It's a neat alternative.

Getting back into cassettes is WTF territory for me.

some of it is people moving to vintage stuff that's still cheap (same as yoots moving from shitty 90s P&S film cameras to shitty 00s digicams when cameras and film prices shot up).

it's also really inexpensive to make small batches of cassettes

A rack of cassettes is cooler than a crate of vinyl though. Plus they're slightly less fiddly to handle where you worry less about scratches and dust and etc

I remember opening up a pack of these and thinking about the sweet mix tape I was gonna make.

Remember there were 60, 90 and even 120 minute tapes? How many times could I put Every Rose Has Its Throne on the same tape?

The 120s were paper-thin; Metal Maxell 60s were the shit….

People who want me to do other social activities when longhorn football is on. No I don't want to go to the movies/watch rugby/see some one hit wonder band from the 80s because it's football season and my team is playing.

I can't stand it when someone uses "flick" when referring to the middle finger. "A taxi driver flicked me off". What the fuck is that shit about? It's flip. No one flicks you off, they flip you off.

I’ll also add when your wife tries to start carrying a conversation during the game or asks you to do things when you’re sitting and watching. I would even allow for ‘at the next commercial’ but I don’t even get that.

I mean, it’s Saturday in the fall. Read the room. I ask for so little yet me sitting on the couch during the day must trigger her,

People in an office who share pet pics on MS Teams. Well MS Teams chat in general. Hey asshole, I am next door. Why not walk over you fat slob and ask me the question. No, your dog is not cute in that costume and your kid is already borderline obese.

Excessive business jargon. It's business, I get it, sometimes we all succumb to using a word here, a phrase there. But I received an email, and read it 3 times and couldn't figure out exactly what they were trying to say. Synergy here, change the world there, blah blah. I actually responded saying "Tell me in layman's terms exactly you're trying to sell me and I'll respond." I didn't hear back.

I work for a company that uses acronyms for everything.  And for anyone who's been here less than a few years, for goodness sake, spell it out!  Don't use non-sensible acronyms of the teams or functions and leave everyone else scratching their heads.

Every company is like this.  I worked for Chevron for a while.  Its internal webpage for Chevron acronyms used to be CHAOS (CHevron AcrOnym System).  Probably still is, and I haven't worked for CVX since 2008.

One of my pharmacy school rotations was at a Target. That company is OBSESSED with acronyms and they demanded their employees use them with customers....excuse me, they call them guests. They call their lower managers/department heads ETLs. Executive team leader. It was especially funny if the guest was an old person because they'd assume ETL was a person like R2D2 and roam around asking "where is ETL? are you ETL? I'm trying to find mr ETL or maybe ETL is a woman."

jersey mike's shakes oil and vinegar straight onto the tomato slices, which block the oil and vinegar from going properly into the lettuce. lettuce, then oil and vinegar, then tomato slices. works so much better. this place has only been doing it wrong for 68 years now.

I’ve tried to like Jersey Mike’s multiple times. I’ve failed every time.

You think that's fun, wait until it tries to convert phone numbers and ID numbers into scientific notation...
