Projection.  Pathalogical liars think everyone else is dishonest.  Serial cheaters think their spouses are always lying to them.

Spoiler

— LSU running back Tre Bradford entered the NCAA Transfer Portal today. I checked with sources being that Bradford has a link to the staff in former high school coach Chris Gilbert and I don't believe they will pursue. The running back room is in a good place and I don't think Texas wants to change anything there. I'd expect Bradford to end up in the Big 12 with Oklahoma as a school I've heard that has some serious buzz.

Did someone post that Gerry or someone said we aren't targeting any RB's because our room is fine?

It was “ear to the streets” in his notes on Bradford

The running back room is fine and we're not pursuing when there is a transfer RB who isn't interested in UT.

When a RB is interested in UT, even though the RB room is in a good spot, player X was too special so we made room for him.

Duh.

Idk why people think the RB room is in a good spot. There are two backs in the room worth a damn currently. Rojo or Bijan twist an ankle and we have to give a guy like Watson 15 carries a game? That’s a problem

Daniel Young is fine third-string back for anyone that's not Bama. Obviously upgrading is always nice, but it's not a disaster.

Ya the RB room is fine but I think a legit third back is an easy spot to upgrade

he's gonna treat the Big 12 like 6 man football!!

It’s not that easy to upgrade though because you have to convince a transfer who’s actually good enough to be an improvement that they should come be a 3rd string RB instead of look to go somewhere else where they can start.

It's funny that posters continue to argue if a position group doesn't have an established all-conference level player at 3rd & 4th on the depth chart that means depth is a huge problem.

And it can be fixed by simply adding a big time transfer who's happy to come and be the "in case of emergency" 3rd stringer.

Bijan looked just fine stepping foot on campus one year removed from playing against barely-above 6 man football.

100% agree. That said, our current RBs lack elite speed and our bigger back is in his last season. One of those issues needs to be addressed in the portal, imo. An apb like Robinson could get plenty of touches, especially considering he was cross-trained as a WR at Bama this spring. There's value in the guy spelling Bijan also being a change of pace back, and you can sell that to guys that want more touches without stepping all the way down to G5.

A change of pace guy that’s already played in this offense with the same coaches running it.

That’s why you don’t call them third string, you call it a committee with promises of a certain amount of carries. This offense needs a heavy dose of the run game and there will be enough to go around even with Bijan getting 60% of the touches

Peak offseason when we are comparing Bijan and Brooks

For sure. Just saying if a guy like Bradford can go to OU and that depth chart, no reason why we can’t upgrade a top heavy position

Gray and Brooks are likely gone after next year, while Bijan and Roschon are both likely back

Also, his family (and his cousins, the Abors) are all OU honks

Plus that highlight seems to show a gear that neither Robinson or Johnson have. There would be plenty of touches for Keilan. Plus he's already had experience in Sarkisian's offense and if he can catch, then you can flex him out and use both Robinsons on the field at the same time.

Was he injured last year? Weird that he would go from 39 carries his Freshmen season to nothing last year. Someone is going to have to take those 113 Sam carries, I'd like it to be a guy that averaged 6.5 per in the SEC as a freshmen.

Established teams? No doubt.

But what I'm curious about is if when a Tom Herman gets fired under this new system and 20+ kids 'head for the portal'  on top of 20+ kids graduating how do you recover from that under the 25 per year rule?  Now does your new coach search focus more on who is really good or who can brings guys to fill roster holes next year?

You could try hiring members of the coaching staff from the current national championship team. May or may not work, but definitely worth a shot.

If Maryland isn’t a serious player for Keilan Robinson, it could get real.

Maryland 247 mod

"Source confirms there is no way around the 25-signee limit when it comes to adding another player (Alabama transfer Keilan Robinson). Unless he wants to walk-on, he's not coming.

Too bad, because he's a talent and Locks recruited him to Bama."

So we will get good depth and not fine depth?

Sark also said the goal was to have ROJO and Bijan on the field at the same time. Depth is a good thing

Yeah of course, having lots of good options at one position is a good thing. It's just that typically a transfer creates depth via a knockdown effect. The transfer automatically goes into the 2-deep and the guys behind him who would have been there are now quality depth. A guy who's good enough to be a drastic rb3 upgrade is probably looking to transfer somewhere with a clear path to playing time. Not always, if Robinson wants in that's exciting and good for the team.

When Ingram transferred the collective response was somewhere between a shrug and "good riddance" even though he would have been objectively good depth. It doesn't square to act like we now have a desperate need to add another guy at the position who probably won't be as good as Ingram is.
