USWNT 2021

Given how you see so many players make national team decisions based on playing time, I am going to call the whole discussion about money a complete non-starter.

That said, even to address it, COME ON! People want money for "respect". But your national team money doesn't play into this. That's your professional contract. If you're a men's player in the pool to make our national team and looking at THAT money pool as the respect, you clearly aren't doing enough for yourself professionally to get your money.

Just look at some of our players:
Reyna who is still on a lower end contract is pushing $2 Million a season
Pulisic is close to $10 Million

If any player goes to another country to play for more money ...

3 Losses in a row.

Germany’s first goal hit the right post, was coming out to the middle of the 6 yard box, but then hits the US keeper (who was on the ground after diving to block the shot) in the middle of the back and then goes into the goal.

For some reason the announcer was trying to credit the German girl with the goal even though the ball was going out into the middle of the field if it didn’t hit the keeper’s back.

Then Ropinoe(sp?) and her her German doppelgänger exchange goals and the USWNT gives up multiple goals for the third game in a row and loses for the third game in a row.

The US could do with a coaching change.

The US wasted so many chances tonight/looked out of sync and should have scored at least 4 from what I watched. They need to start to transition players and accept they won't be the favorites next year, but could/should be in 5 years.

Combined with last months results, they need to seriously look at a coaching change.

We don’t seem to have any tactical plan in attack other than “Let’s hope Sophia Smith or Mal Pugh do something individually amazing.”

Horan is constantly pushed forward, and Lavelle is a natural 10. We don’t have a strong enough 6 to control the middle by herself. We really miss Julie Ertz, but she’s not coming back anytime soon (or at all).

We haven’t seemingly developed any consistency or chemistry on the back line.

Combine all that with the explosion in popularity of women’s soccer in Europe combined with existing clubs and academies and the gap has disappeared between the USWNT and at least 5 Euro federations.
