They should hold off releasing the warrants until Biden is POTUS...if that's allowed.   It's not like any of these morons are smart enough to disappear in the next couple of weeks.

Fuck. In this instance it's even more beneficial for perception if he DID pardon people on camera mobbing the capitol building. I'm all for it.

That's one reason I wanted them back home dicking around until Trump is no longer president. They're eating bacon, bragging on FB, posting all those selfies of what they did in DC. Then

BOOM

1,000 of them arrested all over the country within 5 seconds of each other.

You’re all hung up on logic, man! This transcends logic. The proof is in the accusation. Cult leaders blame Antifa, cult followers follow and that’s all there is to it.

I mean, yes and no. The proliferation of social media, "alternative facts," and the ability to seal oneself off in echo chambers has made it hard.

But between what happened in GA and yesterday, that seems to have shaken loose a lot of right wing motherfuckers into changing their tunes. Piling on a little more while there is momentum can't fucking hurt. If for no other reason as another poster said, you can say "Why would Trump pardon someone from ANTIFA?"

It doesn't have to be that way. Per trumps own tweets this summer, charge them with defacing the Monuments Act or whatever it was and a 10 year minimum.

Cops used significantly less force against these red hats than they did against BLM earlier this year. They were fucking people up for looking at them wrong while wearing BLM gear. Teakettling them and mass arresting them and aggressively enforcing curfews, that kind of shit.

Capitol police took blows, got into fist fights, and had irritants sprayed on them by the insurrectionists yesterday. The cops fucking held their hands while walking down the stairs. Shit, the cops outside the door where the woman was shot carried her out to medical attention - AND THEY CONTINUED TO TREAT THE REST OF THE MOB AS GOOD FAITH ACTORS.

“The answer isn’t to stay home and hand control of the government over to the radical left and the extreme socialists, the answer is to stand up and defend the state of Georgia and defend our rights.” said Cruz. “The anger that you feel, let me encourage you to channel it into fighting to save the senate and save America.”

This is from Cruz's speech in Georgia this past weekend.

I'm not trolling or posting in bad faith. I think bullets are a higher level of force than batons, tear gas, pepper spray, etc. Killing a person with a bullet is a higher level of force than pepper spraying 1,000 people - at least to me. Did the woman killed have a gun or any type of weapon?

The police can protect federal buildings without shooting and killing people. Protestors in Portland tried to enter a federal building day after day. Shockingly, the police didn't have to kill any of them (again, please correct me if I'm wrong about that).

If you take all of the what might have happened and the motivation guessing and just use facts, here’s what took place yesterday:

a group of people numbering in the thousands openly planned a gathering, mostly on social media, to take place on 1/6 in opposition to the confirmation of the electoral college votes. People made plans and made t shirts about it up to and including calling it civil war.  They made their way to DC, many of them loudly trumpeting their intentions while on airplanes. They gathered on 1/6, some with firearms, some with body armor, some with zip ties, they assembled in the area orchestrated and participated in a rally in which many people including the president spoke to them. Then they walked to the Capitol and forced their way in and took complete control of the building without anyone firing a shot in defense. They looted, they vandalized, one person was shot and killed trying to gain entrance to the house chamber despite the door being closed, locked, and barricaded and armed security pointing weapons at the door and giving verbal warnings.
They took pictures with the cops who were supposed to be defending the building.  They live-streamed themselves. Then over the course of some hours they were asked to leave and they slowly and eventually made their way out of the building.

many of them bragged on social media about it, some even were interviewed about it

and some people think this, or parts of it, are no big deal.   There’s been equivocation, there’s been downplaying, there’s been lying.

now they are promising more on or before the inauguration.  We need to believe them.

EXACTLY. I do believe them. Gaslighting and cooperation and conspiracy to commit sedition by both elected and non-elected officials and citizens.

Well to start, it didn't look like the Capitol Police could protect the building they were assigned to. The time of the shooting, the Capitol had been overrun and the area that these police/ss were assigned was being breeched. I'll assume they had a reason to resort to deadly force (ie. protecting a Congressman/Senator). The lady was shot after breaking through a window, repeatedly told to stop or they would fire, I'll assume she saw the weapons pointed at her, yet she proceeded. And that's where it ended. At some point, you have to meet a threat with necessary force.

This is justification for a higher use of force, which may have been necessary (I don't know). But it's in tension with the guy's point that the cops used less force against the Trump protestors.

Your first sentence is interesting. I wonder if a smaller police presence results in more shootings.

They used deadly force on one person and minimal force on the rest of the mob. The comparison isn’t close. The difference in how this was treated vs how the BLM was treated is obvious and stark and fuck anyone equivocating

Summer 2020 the motherfucking DHS SECRETARY showed up at the Portland Federal Courthouse with hired thugs to escalate matters against BLM.  Plainclothed feds were snatching people off the streets, stuffing them into vans.  Bill Barr, at the behest of trump, instructed US Atty Billy Williams and his staff to prosecute without mercy.  I just had a conversation with an Atty in that office at 4 this afternoon and she said quote "They would tell you they were protesting police brutality, but all they really wanted was chaos."  They only charged 40 with federal crimes, and the litmus test (again, direct quote from the attorney who wrote the indictment and prepared the prosecution) is they "actually assaulted federal officers or were on camera trying to destroy the building". Windows were broken, nobody penetrated the courthouse beyond the lobby, and the whole building reeked of teargas, but by God no protestors/rioters/seditionists gained access to the federal building DUE TO OVERWHELMING FEDERAL DEFENCE.

yesterday, the president of the united states incited his supporters to occupy the United States Capitol.  And the defenders of the US Capitol building let them in.

Let that sink in..

We don't know what was in her backpack.  They found one guy with 11 molotov cocktails inside the Capitol.  There are photos of others with 9mm handguns and zip ties.

She was breaching a barricade into a secure area that very likely had our top government officials sheltering in place.  Should the officer have risked his own safety by approaching her with pepper spray or a baton?  Had he done so he very possibly could have risked being overrun by a dozen more behind her who were also poised to jump through the breach.

I moved the convo here because the nature of our disagreement is political and you're making arguments in bad faith to hide that.

The woman wasn't killed at the perimeter of the Capitol, not along a fence, not in the streets in front of it. She was deep inside the capitol, past several lines of defenses, trying to break into a secured area holding multiple elected officials.

The Capitol is a secured area - normal folks are NOT allowed to carry firearms in there. There were multiple people in that mob arrested for carrying LOADED FIREARMS WITH AN EXTRA MAG into the fucking Capitol.

Do you think secret fucking service agents are just fucking around waiting to find out? No, they are there as a last line of defense against fucking crazy people trying to cause harm to elected officials.

This dead woman had just about every fucking possible sign post to stand the fuck down - orders of magnitude more than was offered to the BLM folks. She was even told by the people next to her that GUNS WERE POINTED AT HER but she chose to go through anyways.

I don't know how you can compare this dead woman to BLM people in any way, shape, or form.

Well those were found outside the buildings so I left that out on purpose.  There's enough evidence of real threat to life with what was found INSIDE the Capitol to have justified the shooting.

More to the point of @CDAK's argument, it is absolutely disingenuous (at best) to try to equate the level of force used by the police etc. yesterday to the force exerted on BLM or CHAZ protests, or even the DC police/parks/border patrol, etc., that were employed to clear a path for a photo op earlier this year outside the White House.
