The police shot and killed one of the protestors at the Capitol yesterday. A white female Trump supporter. That's pretty fucking significant force.

FWIW it wasn't a cop who shot the woman, if the video is anything to go by. She was trying to climb through a barricaded window into a secure area that had a number of elected officials. A man in a suit stepped out, and calmly shot her once the second she put a leg through the window opening.

Getting shot by what appears to be a secret service agent while invading a secured space in the nation's capitol is NOT equivalent to what happened with the BLM protests and riots.

I see this sentiment popping up everywhere. The police shot and killed one of the protestors at the Capitol yesterday. A white female Trump supporter. That's pretty fucking significant force. Across all the racial justice protests in 2020, I can't recall one person being shot and killed by the police. There was that guy in Oregon who shot and killed one of the proud boys who the police later shot and killed, but that wasn't at a protest. Were there any others (legitimate question)? I'd take pepper spray over a bullet every day.

lol this is a troll bit, right?

No, I guess I'm just that dumb. There were people trying to enter a federal courthouse in Oregon day after day. None were shot and killed by police. (At least to my knowledge please correct me if I'm wrong).

I wish we could have less forceful police presence at protests but perhaps a smaller force results in a greater likelihood of shootings.

So you're drawing a distinction between different types of law enforcement? Cops v. secret service agents. That's not compelling to me.

I think it's a little disingenuous to equivocate boots (and knees) on necks protesting police brutality in the street to a secret service agent in a suit plugging an insurrectionist literally coming through the windows inside the capitol building, while interrupting the constitutionally mandated counting of electoral college votes.

But now you're arguing that the higher level of force used yesterday was justified due to the circumstances. Your prior point was that cops used less force against the white, Trump supporters.

This. Throw them all in jail and let them get their day in court. All the conspiracy shit is annoying.

I know, right?  It's not like we've been talking about presidents with fake birth certificates, false flag operations, and kiddie porn pizza places, cause those are real things.

watch the video. It's four different videos from the scene synchronized.

You're telling me that the MOB breaking down a barricaded door with UNIFORMED POLICE OFFICERS JUST FUCKIN STANDING NEXT TO THEM DOING JACK FUCKING SHIT was treated equivalently to capitol PD's earlier performances this year? Fuck you, and fuck everyone else who would argue that the trump insurrectionists didn't get the white glove treatment from capitol police.

Nevermind the fucking bad faith horseshit that secret service doesn't walk the streets, they aren't normal cops, and aren't really known to be the guys murdering black men in the streets for kicks misdemeanor offenses.

Secret service wasn't the police shooting pepper balls and rubber bullets at people with their hands up months ago. Capitol Police were.

I’m saddened that no patriots drove in from out of state to protect the Capitol property

No kidding. The House and Senate were trying to fulfill their constitutionally-mandated rolls in the certification of the election and none of the patriots who believe in the Constitution were there to defend it.

LAW & ORDER!

That woman getting shot was her fault.

 • She traveled from California with the intent to cause civil unrest.
 • She crossed a barricade to keep people out of the Capitol Grounds.
 • She crossed the threshold of the steps and another barricade outside the building.
 • She illegally entered the building through a locked door or broken window.
 • She pushed her way past guards in the building.
 • She attempted to get to the chambers where at least the top 3 in line of succession (Pence, Pelosi, Grassley) and the next VP were.
 • This was an attempt to follow through on the threats in Michigan to capture the political leadership, hold them hostage, put on a mock trial and potentially execute them (symbolized by the gallows outside).
 • If anything, the capitol police and secret service did not shoot soon enough.  Sure they showed great restraint, but should they have?  One shot means that guy was a pro at his job.
 • Even then there was minimal loss of life only because the rioters/terrorists paused when the first one was shot long enough for the leaders to evacuate. Not because they realized they were wrong.
 • Because of this I think her death was necessary to prevent further loss of life and buy time for the evacuation.

The charges need to go beyond the illegal entry and destruction of property to include sedition, treason, domestic terrorism, they should also have the charges amplified (Need right legal word) for someone dying in the act of committing those crimes.  Those with firearms should face the potential for capital punishment.

No half-measures or they will be emboldened.  Trump said it himself, you have to show them strength. Use Trump's order on protecting federal buildings and get the 10 year felony convictions at a minimum.  No voting, no gun ownership, add them to federal domestic terrorist watch list, no government jobs or contracts.  Make them examples and personae non-grata.

None of those people in that federal courthouse were in the line of succession to the Presidency.

She was an Air Force veteran.  I'm pretty sure that had she been at a base that had nukes, that she would respect the "DEADLY FORCE AUTHORIZED" signs around those nukes, but yesterday, she made the decision to illegally enter a federal building, and cross a barricade where multiple law enforcement officers with weapons drawn, were in plain sight.

She literally fucked around and found out.

Yes, she had mental health problems - I have yet to meet anybody who associates themselves with Qanon, who doesn't have mental health issues (there's a reason TexAgs has a thousand-page+ thread supporting it), and it's clear from their literature and their online ramblings that they exploit the mentally ill.  That is very sad.  Very, very sad, because her blood is also on their hands.  Having an in-law who is in to the Qanon stuff, I sympathize with her family, because those Qanon types are extremely out of touch with reality.

But those Capitol Police and Secret Service agents don't have some kind of Terminator-esque implant that registers who the woman was and that she had mental health issues.  All they knew was that she was attempting to enter a secured area, that they had to hastily barricade.

They could not just let her and others with her wander in to an area where they had personnel they had to protect, and they clearly did not have the manpower to make arrests.

US Capitol Police Chief to resign, as well as the House Sergeant at Arms.  Hopefully they fire the officers taking fucking selfies with the rabble.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/07/politics/capitol-police-reaction-details/index.html

Quote

US Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund is resigning amid criticism over an apparent lack of preparedness to deal with Wednesday's violent mob on Capitol Hill.

Sund's resignation is effective January 16, according to a Capitol Police official.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Thursday called for the resignation of the Sund and said the House Sergeant at Arms has told her he is submitting his resignation as well.

Pelosi made her comments during her weekly news conference, and follows Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer saying he would fire the current Senate Sergeant-at-Arms when he becomes majority leader.

It's a domestic cold war they want.  Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, and CNN have better ratings when people hate each other.  Their business model is driven by it.  New media like Facebook, Twitter, and Parlay have algorithms to intentionally magnify it.

The Industrial Military Complex reinvented itself after the Cold war to the war on drugs and then regime changing and foreign terrorism two-fer with Iran-Contra.  This is how capitalism works unchecked, they invent conflict because that is how they sell stuff.

Alt-rights like info wars and Rush built it up without considering the consequences because of money and maybe they are crazy too.  Some of it was not ideology driven but the in the new media arms race they were fighting over the same audience with limited view time so it escalated to the point we are at the brink of civil war.  They lost sight of the damage they were doing as they sought their profits and whether the profit was worth the damage.

Thinking is too hard for most American and they lose objectivity and retreat to the clan mindset from our cave dwelling ancestors because that is programmed into our DNA.  So here we are a bunch of cavemen who don't have that many differences but our chiefs use fear tactics to keep their power over us and say the other clan will ruin our way of life in an effort to expand his power base and the Neanderthal part of our brain just goes along with it because team.

Very light on @Message Board User quoting Twitter lunatics though. Need to pump those numbers up.

Da fuq?

Mob rule and violence should be condemned and prosecuted no matter the political valence, whether it was the looting and rioting last summer or what happened yesterday in DC.

And the people who know better but fed conspiracy theories for political points (like Hawley and Cruz) have blood on their hands for whipping the mouth-breathers into a frenzy and should be removed from power post haste.  Even the Chip roys and Dan Crenshaws are standing up now (yes way too late, but still) while Hawley and Cruz are cowards who crave the fealty of Trump's loyal base and are frightened of his mean tweets.

and this very brief article from may 2016 is as relevant today as it was back then.

I can't help but think of the 16 traits of masculinity as explained by millennia of storytelling and nature.  There are just some leaders that embody so much manhood...

Yes, I think Incredulity must be a binary thinker.
I'm pro 2nd Amendment, minimal but adequate regulation, Pro-life and anti-Death penalty (but that is a religious view that does not define my political views), moderate that used to be a Republican but that party has left moderates out and gone all in with Q-anon.
I'm not motivated by fear speech or hate.  Several people on here know me personally and would vouch for my integrity and pragmatic approach to things.
I am 100% against fascism and the idiots that support them because they are afraid that the opposition party is going to turn us into Communist Russia, I think it is ironic that Russia is behind this following through on the threats of Nikita Khrushchev "We will bury you".
It would be funny if it weren't so serious.  They tell me the Mueller report that is verified by our intelligence, and both houses of congress was a witch hunt and fake but I'm supposed to believe the Navarro report is real while watching a oklahomafreakshow of Rudy Giuliani playing the Q-anon top 40 hits.
Q-anon, Proud Bois, Oathkeepers and the rest of the snowflakes that want to play the game but can't handle losing need to be labeled a domestic terrorist organizations.

Police presence in DT Austin/capitol complex is crazy right now. Hoping it's just preemptive. I just drove by a DPS officer on 15th and Lavaca on the side opposite the capitol open-carrying an AR15. Also saw a couple what I assume were paddy wagons on the side of the street with cop cars parked in front/behind. One on Congress and 6thish one up on Lavaca by the Doubletree.

Crazy fucking world right now, man.

It was a very weird scene at the Capitol for sure. I believe most of the officers were doing their best but it’s also clear many were not. I hope the police in Texas won’t stand for that BS. Wonder if the news today about that officer possibly getting beaten to death during the riot will change their minds. The night shift riot police that took over were noticeably more forceful and borderline abusive to the Trump supports when pushing them back from the Capitol. Hard to blame them.

That was DC metro PD. They didn't have jurisdiction until the rioters were off capitol grounds. Not sure why they gave them 45 grace minutes during curfew though.

During the other civil unrest in DC this year, they kettled protesters before curfew and then arrested them for breaking curfew.

The stark difference of treatment deserves more questions and answers
