Not to defend him, but in the interest of facts, a reporter was just on cnn saying he saw Zip Tie guy grab the ties from a security locker right before he took the “famous” picture.

he definitely had some evil ideas, but it doesnt seem like he planned from the start to hogtie congressmen.

I am not saying I disagree, but I am not sure free colonoscopies and a trip to a Caribbean Island is the message we want to send.

Poor Jenna Ryan hasn't yet realized that her only option at this point is to hire a good lawyer and a better pr person to help her craft an apology, but she has to actually experience genuine remorse and contrition to be able to pull it off. From her doubling down on social media and her interviews in the Dallas press, her life is about to get much worse.

Someone serve up the Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus meme.  (I guess sheriff's in Oklahoma dress like it's Halloween or something.)

EL RENO — Canadian County Sheriff Chris West acknowledged Friday that he marched to the U.S. Capitol this week in support of President Donald Trump but said he was not involved in the rioting.

At a news conference Friday, he denounced those who broke into the U.S. Capitol Wednesday.

"What happened at the nation's Capitol, the crimes that were committed, the egregious crimes on our beacon and bastion of last hope for our nation, breaking in to that and terrorizing it, that's horrible," the Republican said.

"The fact that people died, the fact that law enforcement officers were assaulted on our nation's Capitol, that our congressional members and other people in our government were in fear for life, I rebuke all of that. Every bit of it. I vehemently rebuke it."

He spoke out as speculation grew on social media about the level of his involvement in the demonstrations Wednesday. He called the speculation "crazy talk" spread by those who don't like his politics.

The violence came after Trump spoke at a rally Wednesday and urged supporters to go to the Capitol.

There, a mob rioted, overwhelming Capitol police to force their way inside as lawmakers met to certify President-elect Joe Biden's Electoral College victory.

West drove to Washington, D.C., attended the rally and then walked to the Capitol. He said at the rally were hundreds of thousands of Americans who love freedom.

They lost their way because the people that rule over them have completely lost THEIR way. They desperately latched on to someone they (incorrectly) perceived to be an outsider because they (correctly) perceived that the insiders were worthless. The politicians and media whores can cry as many crocodile tears about our precious democracy as they want- ultimately it is their own shitty behavior that has led to all of this

Bullshit.

This is a reflection of our society.  Who we elect is a reflection of our society.

"Of the people, by the people, for the people" isn't just some philosophical target, it's the functioning reality of a democracy.  There is no us (public) and them (politicians), there is just us.  Are some politicians shitty?  Sure.  But that delegation of culpability just builds the mindset that the only reasonable solution is for the oppressed public to overthrow the corrupt government.  As the public, we need to take responsibility for this fucking mess.  We need to put in the work - the boring, non-glamorous, sustained work - to right our country.

Rep for this. That last sentence is also very important. That is reflected in so many many ways. This last election revealed something about us quite starkly:

The very people who put in unpaid, boring, non-glamorous, sustained work, the work that keeps our society running, have been doing that for lifetimes. The work that many of them have found is one of the more readily available avenues to them due to circumstances and obstacles that have been put in place for a long long time. Black women worked the polls, they registered voters, they called, they door knocked, they voted. All while working at nursing homes, in hospitals, in service industries, as teachers, as day care center owners, as mothers and sisters and grandmothers and daughters. And they kicked ass. They did for our country and really only ever have had one ask. And we suppress their vote and tear gas them.

And a whole lot of people on Wednesday threw a temper tantrum because they don't want to take responsibility.

You ever read the comment that Stephen Miller made so many years ago when he was a high schooler in California? When he was running for elected student council and he complained about the school asking students to pick up after themselves to take some of the burden off of custodians? 'We pay them for that," was his complaint. Someone who sees things in black and white (viewpoint not skin color) might not object to his viewpoint, but the world is more nuanced than that and it was a momentary glimpse of the man he would become. That has been revealed pretty starkly as well.

While I was typing, @Gatorubet just put more succinctly what I was thinking, thanks for putting it that way: snowflakes. If they want to change the world, they are going to have to start with themselves and cause some good trouble not mayhem and sedition.

All of those shitty politicians were elected by us.  Hell Texas has to live with the shame of #TraitorTed until we get him removed from office.
