Identifying Trump rioters

As a sort of broad rule, Congress is supposed to investigate its own members as a separation of powers issue.  And a lot of what they do is privileged by the Speech and Debate Clause

That stuff doesn't apply to a criminal investigation, but, as is a problem with many of these big data dragnets, does the probable cause precede the data or proceed from it.

Tucker and Hawley were freaking out.  I had to rewind and rewatch multiple times.  Loads of lulz.

Aren’t they happy all those AOC texts to antifa will finally come to light?  Then we can go after the REAL perps...

edit: texts derp

I want to know where Hunter Biden was during all of this. And Hilary’s email server.

Yeah considering every last one of them should be executed for treason, I'll settle for a little rape.

Don’t forget murder. They killed a cop. And got their friend killed too. I believe killing a cop is considered bad.

But no to the rape. Yes to the public hanging or firing squad. Or I will settle for total asset seizure and exile with no chance to return.

If the data collection happened after the illegal act of insurrection, what’s the problem?

if house members were texting with rioters, the penalties need to be very very harsh

Part of the problem here is that no one in the public knows exactly what data they harvested.  Location data and calls in and out would be less constitutionally problematic than things like texts to and from congress critters.

But in a more conventional investigation, you identify potential perps first and the crimes they may have committed, get a warrant containing that information and the evidence sought.

Here, and it's not a perfect analogy, they dragged all the evidence without a warrant and are sifting through it to find perps and crimes.

It's really quite fantastic and glorious that congress is suffering this potential 4th Amendment violation.  And it would seem that those most likely to be "hung up" by it are also those most likely to have sponsored and voted for the legislation that enables it.

There are some issues raised by the collection of data by the FBI.
I'm happy as a clam for Congress to be on the wrong end of it, they're the ones who fund it and basically authorize it.
But, hey, if you didn't do anything wrong, what do you have to worry about?  Amirite?

I think if I had a choice I would rather the FBI mine my data than Google. FBI probably won’t annoy me by trying to coerce me into buying some shit I don’t need.

But the FBI isn't gonna let you know that pornhub now has Midget Squirters 3 in the middle of a work presentation.

The plot thickens as democracy thins.  I don't know/follow Don Winslow, where's his info coming from?

Also, the Jenna Ryan tweets/tiktoks/etc lately...holy shit.  A competent criminal defense attorney would have advised her to shut up and stop using social media.  She's now my front-runner for "what if boxed wine was a person?"  challenge of 2021.  Usurping several others.  But this is what I'm guessing Jenna's legal discussions sound like:

"Jenna, do you have a lawyer to help you with those federal charges?"

"Yeah, he's the best!"

"Oh, criminal defense?  Solo or with a big firm?"

"No way!  He's a title insurance guy from work."

"You have the worst fucking attorneys."  /georgebluth

"Take a look again at that poll book!"

Another former cop.

Look at pics 1-3, apparently not only is Marlon Brando alive...he's feeling spry enough to assault a federal building.  Good for him, I say!

I think it was another thread I asked this, and I'm being completely sincere (I know, rare for me).  But a lot of these guys heading off to federal prison...they were former police officers.  In this day and age of digital information, it'll take 24 hours for news to get through the Cell Block that the new guy in "B-wing" is a former racist cop.  Sure the white gangs might offer some protection, but they're not exactly 'Back the Blue' types themselves...because you know...they're in fucking prison.  How do they keep ex-cops in prison from just getting the shit beat out of them every day?  There's not enough in there to warrant a separate wing like they do with pedophiles.

Maybe years and years ago, but now---a lot of these Oathkeepers don't look like they can handle themselves anymore.  What happens to former police in federal prison?  Especially when dozens of them get locked up at the same time?

Their co-conspirators care.  Sooner or later one of the ex-cops in one of these white supremacist groups (Oathkeepers, Proud boys, et. al.) is gonna get wise to what's gonna happen to him in prison and reveal the whole plan and who helped them on the inside.  The Blue Line gets eviscerated pretty quick when the reality of a decade-long nightmare of sexual enslavement kicks in.  Let these guys find out what awaits them on the inside as ex-cops.  They'll start cracking on one another, get you to their leadership, and plead out for whoever helped them inside the Capitol.  Obviously being a national embarrassment and insurrectionist traitor isn't a threat to them.

Then again, some of these guys have to know what's coming.  You'll see more than a handful of suicides in the next year or two before they begin their sentences.  Hundreds of families torn apart to protect one man who wouldn't lift a finger to help them.  And it's Trump's indifference towards them that makes them love him even more.  "You don't know what it's like with Trump when you're not around.  He really loves me!"  But it's that final look in a man's eye, when he knows all the wrong decisions he made have led him to this moment, when he knows he's been broken and his life will never, ever be the same.  Just a 10 year nightmare in federal prison, in that moment when they look back on the folly of their ways and they wish they had it to do over again, and now they know they can't.  It's right up there with the smell of fresh cut grass for me.

They were going to execute elected officials at our seat of government on live video streams.  Some of them are going to kill themselves, some are going to be murdered in federal prison, others will live the rest of their lives in shame and drug addiction and probably killing themselves down the road.  Each time one of them dies, somebody should sit outside Mar-a-Lago with the total death count of his ridiculous insurrection.  And when Trump finally dies, we can all have a good laugh.
