I know some view this as a slapstick sports comedy, but it’s really a great film that holds up well after all these years. Great script, directing, casting, and music (including the songs from Randy Newman and Bill Medley). And it was great of the Cleveland Indians to okay the use of its team, instead of using some fictitious pro baseball team. It’s one of my favorite sports movies of all time.

1. $ - Better tax breaks in MKE

2. Scheduling - Milwaukee only hosted the Packers 2x a year whereas the Browns were a full-time resident

3. Politics - Film was shot in 1988, during a very strong period for the Browns. Owner Art Modell probably had enough juice to keep the production out of Cleveland. I have no insight as to his role (if any), but Modell was a big swinging dick by this point.
