Oliveira's a beast, man.  10 wins in a row and the last 4 over Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje.

We were talking about this last night - does anyone have a successive run as good as that one?  Oliveira is scary right now. Islam is sure to get the interim shot against him but who has he beat?  I think he still needs to go thru Dariush to get that chance.

Rose had to have lost a ton of fans last night.  That performance was awful.  Her “stare down” at the end of round 2(?) after doing nothing was cringy.  Her post fight comments praising her own defense were out of touch. She needs to find a new camp.  How do you market Esparza?  She can’t be a co-main on a PPV just because she holds a title.

Chandler.  Wow.  Maybe the best KO ever?  Ferguson didn’t move for a LONG time and didn’t respond when people were talking to him when he finally did.  Glad to see Tony was game, but I don’t need to see him fight anymore.  Chandler has a future on TV as well when he wraps up fighting (my guess is if he gets a big money fight with Conor, he’ll call it a day).

Shogun vs OSP - who thought that should be a PPV fight?  If Rose vs Esparza wasn’t so bad we’d be talking about that one as the worst.

First fight was fine.

I love how everyone calls out Conor because that’s the only way they can get paid.  Dana needs to do these guys better.  When you have guys turning down title shots, you have a problem.

What are the PPV buys going to be with Glover headlining in a few?  They better stack that undercard (ie they better have Nate Diaz ready to go).

But since this isn’t boxing, he still has a 50-50 chance of surviving.

His jiu jitsu is beautiful.

Agreed. I love watching him fight but I just wish didn't take so many punches flush to face. Give him some training on slipping punches and he'll be even more scary.

IMO, the best run in the history of the sport was Wanderlei Silva in Pride FC from 2000-2004.

18-consecutive unbeaten in the best promotion's best division.

16 wins, 14 by knockout, including 3 over the legend Kazushi Sakuraba, 2 over Rampage Jackson (who was an absolute mauler in his prime), 1 over Dan Henderson in his prime, and 1 over a really good Guy Mezger.  The other 8 were no slouches either, because Pride didn't have slouches.  Y'all remember Chuck Liddell, right?  He went over there in his prime and went 1-1 (lost to Rampage).

1 draw against Mirko Filipovic, who is one of the best strikers ever and about 4 inches taller and 30 lbs bigger.  Pride only had 3 weight classes and Wand fought at 205 even though he's a natural 185-er, meaning that he was bulking up to 205 while his opponents were cutting 20 lbs then putting it right back on.  And he took everybody's lunch money anyway.  Cro Cop only survived because he was two weight classes bigger instead of one.

1 NC for kicking Gilbert Yvel (a nice Dutch kickboxer) in his junk.  Shit happens.

Olivera is the slickest most entertaining grappler I think I've ever seen. His technique is flawless and style is beautiful. The way he set up and quickly slithered on Porier's back was a masterpiece then he tops that with this transition from a leg triangle to the rear choke so quickly Justin had no idea what was happening until he was locked in. The man is a human anaconda and to see where he arose from out of the depths of an extreme poverty favela is a fantastic story.

I think Makachev needs to prove himself against someone legit in the top 4 before getting a title shot. He should get Dariush, Chandler or Gaethje first.

I was a big Rose fan after she shut up Joanna but damn she's said some stupid shit over the last couple years and just comes off as unlikable now. The racist stuff against Weili then she has the nerve to complain after she gave her title away by engaging in a weird dance for 25 minutes never really attempting to fight. That's just ugly.

Yeah, it's between those two.  Fedor is my favorite HW of all time.  But there are also an awful lot of borderline tomato cans on his resume.  The consensus at the time was that it was a shame there weren't more truly elite guys for Fedor to fight.  It could be argued that Minotauro and Cro Cop are the only great fighters Fedor beat.

The 6 wins against Rampage, Sakuraba, and Hendo swing it to Wandy for me.  But yeah, it's debatable.

This pretty well sums up my thoughts on Oliveira right now.  I’ve never rolled or been in an organized fight, so I could be way off, but to my eye he is so well rounded and transitions so smoothly and effortlessly I don’t know that I’ve seen anyone do that like him.  And I can’t imagine what his opponents are thinking in there. There are undoubtedly better “specialists” but they way he pulls it all together is cool to see.  As someone pointed out, he eats too many shots for my liking and that will cost him eventually. Really fun to watch and easy dude to cheer for.

Fedor is kind of the goat just for his spine surviving this Kevin Randleman wearing wrestling shoes suplex and getting the kimura right after somehow.

I'm an axe murderer fan too, him and Spider are the only old school Brazilians I can stand. Olives is great too.

Most excited for Jiri v. Glover at 275
