Interesting that the writers are from the SEC and Oklahoma.    No doubt,  Mike White will have to do his best to focus the team to prevent the distraction of playing Oregon.  Especially a challenge for Rhodes, Burke, and Iakopo.

Overall,  I think we have more experience than Oregon, especially coaching.   Oregon Coach Lombardi is no stranger to McCombs after being here many times as an OU   pitching coach.    But alot more pressure when you are the head coach in your first postseason appearance with not many players that have played in the postseason.     If Shea continues to pitch well,  defense is solid, and Rhodes breaks her slump, the Cinderalla story for Oregon and those that favor them will end.

Austin Regional

Ryan Aber, The Oklahoman: Texas – The regional with the most intrigue, but Oregon has struggled against top competition while the Longhorns are 39-4 against teams other than Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

Will Backus, Knoxville News Sentinel: Oregon – The Ducks were at least competitive with the Pac-12's top teams, taking at least a game against the likes of UCLA, Arizona and Arizona State.

Eric Blum, Columbia (Mo.) Daily Tribune: Texas – A near coin-flip decision between the Longhorns and Oregon. Even with two good mid-majors to complete this regional, Texas has been too good throughout the year not to pick.

Tommy Deas, SEC cross-team leader: Oregon – The Ducks get to end the season for their former coach, Mike White, on Texas' home field. And don't call it an upset.

Aria Gerson, The Tennessean: Texas – Oregon will be a tough matchup here, but ultimately the Ducks struggled against the Pac-12’s top teams, which gives the Longhorns the advantage.

Brett Greenberg, The Tuscaloosa News: Oregon – This was a pick-em between the Ducks and the Longhorns. I'm taking Oregon in two games to advance.

Graham Hays, guest expert: Oregon – If Oregon's Brooke Yanez beat UCLA twice this season, she can beat the Longhorns twice in Austin.

Scott Wright, The Oklahoman: Oregon – The most intriguing regional field in the tournament and the Ducks pull the upset over their former coach.

Mike White's press conf today including Oregon media.      He seems torqued about the matchup with Oregon ("politics") (opening comments and 5:28).    Addresses the evils of social media and fan behavior at 13:27.    Other questions about leaving Oregon and their team.    17 minutes worth your time.

She’s coming home

Ok, I'll admit it, I may have jumped the gun.  Was told yesterday that she was Texas bound, and was told tonight that after phone calls today Texas may be in 5th place at best.  OU, UCLA, Alabama and Florida have all made contact.

She’d be stupid to go to OU.  They have like 7 pitchers on staff. There’s not enough innings to go around in Norman. Texas loses Adams and Jacobsen and White hasn’t shown #2 stuff.  Hope would get a huge chunk of innings/starts at Texas.

Edit: they have 6 on roster and lose 2 with 2 more coming in the fall and 1 for fall 2022.  Texas has Shea, White, Day and Simpson.

A super stud slots into any rotation, you know that.

She would be stupid to come here over the big boys.

With Gasso, I disagree. She’s shown time and time again that she’ll sell you on being the gal and the recruit over you the next day.  Very Mulkey-like.  She’d take Hope and the next day, pick up an Elish and just shrug her shoulders.

UCLA is a great situation with Garcia graduating and not much behind her.  Alabama will still rely on Fouts as the workhorse next year but Hope would be a clear #2. FL has younger pitching depth as well.

To me, the ideal situation goes:

UCLA

Texas/Bama

UF

OU

This is why you don’t pump up someone who pitches in the NEC as some crazy dominant pitcher. 0.86 ERA or some shit.

3 runs given up already. 4 walks already. Mary must feel so stupid she struck out.

If she comes here, would that be the piece that makes us one of the big boys?  If she’s good enough to log innings at ou, then she’s good enough.

5-1 Cats  PAC looking a bit overrated with Tree losing to SDSU and host ASU shellacked by VT

Texas beat Texas State 1-0 (8) and 5-4 (led 5-1 going to the 7th)
