The general perception from this board is

1) Women should have expected to get assaulted because he flew them in from another city.

2) This is an elaborate scheme by the Texans to destroy Watson, though, it makes absolutely no sense.

3) the attorney is an aggy, ergo the entire thing is bullshit.

Probably a few other QAnon responses, instead of the most likely reason, Watson has a problem with self control and power dynamics.

So tell me, given that the sentiment against the women is they are lying, why would they file police reports?

They are the ones who's character is being called into question, not the guy accused of being a perv, but he's an elite athlete so obviously he can't be a perv.

I hope that this is bullshit, but with 3 lawsuits claiming similar actions, my guess is, it is not.

I want to hear their stories.

If there's all these DMs and texts, let's see them.  Lay the evidence on the table.

Skipping the police and waiting months to file multiple civil suits with a PI lawyer who is a shady aggy and preened about it on instagram?  Come on, now.

Of course Watson could be a pervert.  Big Ben is also a pervert.  I'd wager most pro athletes are - too much testosterone and too much adoration.

I get my one hour massage in Houston Chinatown off of Bellaire Blvd.

JL Foot Spa. $20. Totally worth it.
Before the Surl surls too hard... it ain’t a happy ending place.

Not sure how that place makes money, but I’ve been going there for years.

A professional athlete getting that many massages in that window... by not the masseuses that are employed or recommended by the team... it ain’t illegal... but that’s not some quality decision making.

The allegations may be true, but the optics of the first scenario are much more likely to garner sympathy.

You, and apparently a lot of people on this board, have a lot to learn about the very complex dynamics of sexual assault and how victims react to it. Not saying the allegations are true, but your first paragraph shows you don’t know enough to be a loud voice on the subject. Sexual assault is rarely a reasonable scenario.

Who cares if Watson is a serial sexual abuser, it's the optics that matter.

FIFM

Im not disagreeing with your overall point, but I guess that when a relatively low-profile person seeks out a known self-aggrandizing gasbag of a lawyer, ESPECIALLY one not known to champion such causes in the past, let’s just say my bullshit meter starts pinging a little bit.

I really hope it’s not true. His story is such a great one. Damn. This sucks. I will admit the more accusers you have the more likely it’s true. I would also like to see the evidence as well. I don’t just blindly believe an accuser simply because she’s a woman. Or accusers in this instance. If you are going to completely change someone’s life and status you’d better have proof. It’s hard not to see the timing of this as it pertains to the Texans. Part of me wants to believe they engineered this. Because I can believe they would do that shit. This sucks.

I wasn’t making a value judgement, just stating how many people will see it. We also just have the lawyer’s word to go on, we don’t even know who the woman is, and no evidence has been provided so far. Not sure why you’d convict Watson just based on what we know so far.

The board(s) have gotten better over time, but it's still deflating to see so many posters be like "what about the police report?!?" as if these women's lives would be anything but ruined if they went to law enforcement. Straight A college girls at good schools can't even get their (often female) campus counselors to move their cases forward. A female masseuse has no chance.

I do agree with the Surly mob that the involvement of this particular lawyer casts doubt on everything. Seems like his office found the girls rather than the other way around.

Yeah, I remember the hostage video by CC he recorded after that.

I think he was hanging out with @Uncle Boobs the night before, learning how to seduce a Cuban.
Daniela found an Astros cup with lipstick on it, at the foot of the bed... and kicked him in the ribs while he was sleeping.

No shit. I feel a new bar rule being proposed right now.

Grandstanding is not a new strategy amongst trial attorneys. It can be a good tactic to scare or mislead the opposition as well as sway public opinion. Johnnie Cochran with the O.J. trial is a good example.

Surly logic at its finest.

Nothing wrong with kicking it with anyone who isn't a known criminal, whenever. He's not shooting a porn with her, jfc.

I'm not sure if the amount of women constantly increasing makes this more or less believable. Did no one tell Deshaun you can just pay for sex?

It’s not about sex for guys of his status. They’re not like us, they can easily get sex from almost anyone they want, probably ever since they were in high school. It’s about a feeling of power. I don’t know enough to say that these allegations are true or false, just speaking generally.

Your lawyer buddy is an idiot. Why would they want to get out of his contract thus allowing him to leave for no return when they can get multiple high draft picks and/or players via trade?
They get their money back and call relief... Still kinda dumb... But they do dumb shit.

I kind of figured this is where you were going with this, but you are missing some context to the posts.

Nobody here believes that a woman should be assaulted just because they were flown in from a different city.  That is stupid and unless you are looking to show how "woke" you are, it isn't what is happening here.  The context on those posts in probably framed through the recent developments of Instagram "escorts"...errr, influencers that "promote" themselves on social media.  We all know there are lots of women out there doing this these days and it is impossible to tell the difference based on what we know about the accusers now.  I think everyone would assume this was an agreed upon meeting with services implied.  This may not be what that is and if it isn't I don't think anyone wants anything other than justice for the victims.  But in this scenario, what is justice?  Should he be behind bars if he is a serial predator?  Absolutely.  Would a civil suit accomplish that?  I don't think so, but maybe this could lead to charges being filed?  I have no idea how the law works in that regard.

All of that being said, I think most people are just shocked that Deshaun is being implicated in such horrible acts.  The news is coming out faster than anyone seems to be able to process what is really going on.

As putrid as Buzbee obviously is, using Instagram is a great strategy. It's a one-way press conference whenever he wants, and the media have no choice but to at least acknowledge it now that cases have been filed.
He could become President of he gets good/bad enough at it.

Accuser #3 said she was so fucked up by his assault that she blacked out and shit her pants. Would you be excited to talk about that with some cops? I can't even imagine how I would feel after that.

Watson doesn't seem like the type of guy to do something like this but I don't know him from anything other than canned responses to reporters. Right now I think it's 70/30 bullshit. But who knows?

The "why didn't they come forward sooner!?" shit is stupid, but Buzbee's involvement and the enormous shitshow that the Texans organization has turned into do cast some doubt on everything. The "why in the blue fuck would the organization do something like this?!" argument, which would usually a pretty compelling argument, is a little less convincing when that's already been a completely reasonable reaction to a half dozen other things they've done in the past year.

Yeah, I made a post last night downplaying the situation based on a poster's summary of that first filing. Summary was basically: They have a DM conversation where they agree he will fly her in to give a massage, he asks her to massage areas she was uncomfortable with and insists on not being covered during it. She isn't in to it, leaves.

Maybe Watson thought he was clearly hiring a sex worker (which as far as I'm concerned it not a big deal for either of them). She wasn't on the same page and got freaked out and bailed. If that's the case, I don't see that anyone did anything "wrong" unless you have a big problem with sex work. Watson should probably be more explicit about his expectations but it's sort of complicated by the fact that it is illegal.

Of course maybe he's the kind of creep who gets off on the power imbalance and the pressure involved with pushing people past their comfort zone and knew exactly what he was doing. More women coming forward makes that more and more likely and now we have filings that allege forced sexual acts. That makes the story much more real than it was 24 hours ago. I still have questions about the timing and the Buzbee of it all but that doesn't mean the allegations shouldn't be taken seriously and investigated.

I wasn't asking about the police report as if to say that the accusations aren't true.  I legitimately do not understand the difference between filing a police report with the details of what happened vs. filing a civil case suing for damages.  The details of what happened are going to be made public. The accusers are going to be made public.  I assume the women want justice which they will not get in a civil suit.  They will get financially compensated, but Watson won't be behind bars which is where he belongs if these accusations are true.

What a weird story. Not unbelievable, just strange. I've never heard of anyone blacking out due to "fear". At least not in a setting like that. I'll be curious to see what the other suits allege.

I'm also wondering how this guy found nine women with stories like this or how they all found him to then make it public in the same timeframe. Genuinely not calling bullshit - just asking how does that even work? This isn't like a class action suit that gets advertised on TV.

These women are not seeking money. And they are for now, anonymous. They did not want to press criminal charges, but they want now to potentially drag their own names through the mud out of some sense of justice, that won't put their rapist behind bars, but would lower his value as an NFL player?

I can't help but think that it might just be possible that payoffs could be coming from more unofficial sources.

The McNairs were architects of the Swift Boat campaign. It's not like this is new to them. And I have to think the son would be worse at it than the daddy, as reflected by his hiring Buzbee instead of some GOP/CIA type heavy hitter of James Baker's ilk.

Most delayed accusations involve a story surrounding the idea that the victim was all alone in feeling that they were assaulted and were embarrassed and unwilling to say anything because it makes people, but especially women, feel like they’re tainted or that they did something wrong, and they carry a lot of shame. Only when they find out that this person was victimizing other people are they willing to come forward - in a group setting which is obviously much easier to do than going it alone.

So let me get this right... you used to read these types of briefings a lot, you have lawyer friends who give you (clearly bad) insight... yet you can’t grasp of the most common concepts surrounding why people file civil suits when criminal suits may bear too much of a burden for proof in a court of law? How they want to out people who have wronged them, and hurt them in the process, even if it’s just financially? I can’t imagine a more common motivation behind a civil suit, and yet you, the ‘expert’ on these things, are somehow mystified by it...

Forgive me if I assume you have zero fucking clue about any of this.
