You know, I could be wrong but I think something happened to W that they haven't disclosed.  Stroke maybe? Anyway, he seemed a bit off to me but not far from his usual.

Really? That reminded me of typical W trying to think on the fly and be folksy. He'd start to say something, hitch, then finish awkwardly and shrug. That was his "he's just like me" common folk presentation.

I don’t want to be that cheesy ass bro because I hate cheesy-ness, but I honestly just feel different since 11am.  Just feels like everyone in the country isn’t in a dark place unless you were fucked by the lies.

Yeah it’s a little cheesy. But I have truly feared for my country. I still do. We have so much left to do. But I think we came closest to our republic slipping away since the Civil War.

She was a vessel to deliver the message. Close your eyes.

And focus on the click track that allows all the performers to sync up in robotic perfection. Great song but it loses something when it’s assembled like Lego blocks in the studio. That’s life during the pandemic. But hey, we’re a year and 405,000 deaths into the crisis and we’re finally about to have a national strategy to fight it so I can cut them a little slack.

Well, let's face it. He was a big disappointment to his Daddy and to Texas. W wasn't ever the man his daddy was nor the president his brother Jeb could have been. More smarts and empathy and no kinda patsy to the likes of the Cheneys of the world.

He struggled to form a complete sentence if it wasn’t written down for him back when he was President. That’s just George. Don’t misunderestimate him.

Man looking back two weeks, what a sea change...and it’s no wonder officer Goodman was tapped to escort Kamala...dude earned a CIB with the 101st, and was the right man at the right moment to allow that critical time in our country’s history to leave a (hopefully) lasting impression without carving a far more serious scar.

Ultimately I’m horrified and embarrassed what transpired on the 6th, but it may well prove to be the defining moment where the wave of alt-right fanaticism crested and snapped a not-insignificant portion of that base, their breathless leadership and governmental enablers back to reality.  Or at least it gave some of them (like Pence and McConnell) a reason to break away.  An inverse of Hunter Thompson’s ‘wave speech’ about the 60’s.

I really wonder how things would have been different had the capitol not been assaulted...ringed by security, smiles and masks all around, EOs already in place.

It just felt like the adults are back in charge, and those of us who maintained adult mindsets and priorities during a period of intense darkness created by petulant children, can breath a monster sigh of relief...made all that sweeter because the peak of despair was such a recent memory.

Can we permanently end inaugural balls? That was 100x better than those things. Just do a big concert and fireworks

Yeah if you're there live the ball may be better but the inauguration should be for all of us.  A good call to keep this format but with actual larger live crowds when we can get back to that...

 Jose Andres is a saint

He’s one of the best people alive. There’s a Peace Prize in his future. I’d love for my son to work with his organization.

My Mom would have been so proud of America today.

Man....I’m running a bit behind on watching this. But just listened to Hallelujah. What got me wasn’t Cohen’s fantastic song....it was the images of my capital city. Of cities all over the country. MY country. A country that hasn’t even had the chance to mourn its dead. A country that dangled over the precipice (and still remains in peril, to be clear). But my country, through all of it. My country, that maybe will see the other side of all this.

I hate what it has done. I hate what it has become. But I can’t help it. I’ve loved it my whole life. I’ve never had the illusion that it was perfect. I’ve loved it in spite of its imperfections, because I believed that it would and could become better. A country that was not stuck in the being, but that lived in the becoming.

I don’t know when we get to mourn. I don’t know when we get to hope. I know we have work to do. So much work.

But my country. I shouldn’t. But I still care.

W told Clyburn that he is a national hero for supporting Biden, because Biden was the only one who found beat Trump.

W hates Trump.

Trump's people knew this, too.  It's why they wanted the Ukraine to investigate him.

Biden gets the Midwestern union whites and everyone knows that.  What was underestimated was black turnout in key markets.

That’s a lot like saying we should do away with senior prom and just have a variety show that we parents can watch from home instead. Screw the students.

I was medically retired from drinking early in the Trump administration, so since I haven't had a bottle of Champagne chilling for four years, I just set fire to $150 of Red, White, and GTFO, much to the delight of the kids at the top of the neighborhood sled hill.

Cool, but I'm waiting until this motherfucker is dead to go full 4th of July ...

Not a peep from the loudmouth shitheads who weren't gonna stand for any of this - much less all of it...  Just took it like a bunch of bottom bitches.  You loudmouth shitheads are all talk.  Go fuck yourselves.  Or don't and keep showing your ass - we'll keep canceling you cunts.

I continue to like the cut of your jib.

Kaitlin Collins looks SO much happier reporting from outside the White House, lol.  She had the frustrated smirk going for four solid years.  She actually has a lovely smile now.

Well she also got a promotion.

she speaks well for an Alabama graduate.

The old school clips of Wolfe and John King in that same role earlier was a riot. She’ll be on the desk replacing one of them soon.

Good for her.  She asked tough questions directly to faced of the entire clown parade of press secretaries in the previous fat fucking windbag's administration of lying sycophantic cunts.

Nice bit with Clinton, Bush and Obama.

Biden looks better than Bill at this point. Dubya is embracing the elder statesman roll, but damn if he couldn't have saved the country a lot of grief by having the balls to endorse Biden 6 months ago.

I agree it's a shame he lacked the balls, but I don't think it would have saved any grief.

I've been calling these bastards out in texts/conversations etc for some time now and today was cathartic in many ways.  But instead of being loud and obnoxious I actually just relaxed alone and took it all in.  Had a few drinks.  Wasn't rage posting or really texting any of the people I've called out.  Just congratulating some people who were much more involved than myself working for the Biden/Harris team.  I guess, for many, being loud can be cathartic.  For me, I guess I'm such a loudmouth asshole, catharsis involved calmly taking it all in.  Gotta say, it got pretty dusty multiple times through the evening/night.  Wife is visiting her sister so it was meant to be.  Just me, my glass of Balvenie, and whatever dumbass thoughts I had.  Felt pretty good brothers (and our couple of sisters here)...

And anyways, the post you quoted is me back to normal programming.  Cheers, assholes.  And congratulations...

I remember going to bed on 11/3, thinking that Trump had won or would likely end up winning, and not being able to sleep.  Waking up at 2am and lying there thinking, "How am I going to live in this country?" and thinking about where in the world I could move, until the sun came up.

I will sleep a lot better tonight.
