Yeah with that Julio  Jones contract, best case is a 2nd rounder + a throw-in late round pick.

Pats are discussing it. They went big this year in the draft and FA (perhaps got their QB of the future with Mac Jones) so I think bc they are likely to have a first round pick in 2022,  I can see them going for it. It will likely be a later 1st round pick since they will have a better record this year. And they typically trade out/down. Or at least they did when they had Brady.

Rumor is the Patriots have talked about a trade for Julio as he is good friends with Cam Newton and would like to play with him.  The trade bantered about was a 3rd rounder plus N’Keal Harry with the 3rd rounder becoming a 2nd rounder if Jones played enough games.  Second link has current betting odds for teams to get Julio.

You don't go get Julio Jones so that Cam Newton
can be his QB. What a waste.

After 24 years of playing in the NFL, Adam Vinatieri has decided to hang up his cleats for good. The NFL's all-time leading scorer made the announcement on Tuesday during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show."

Vinatieri spent eight seasons in Indianapolis as McAfee's teammate, so it was fitting that he turned to his good friend to make the announcement.

Father Time eventually catches up to everyone in the NFL, but he had a rough time chasing down the 48-year-old Vinatieri, who started his NFL career all the way back in 1996. During his 24 years in the league, Vinatieri spent 10 seasons with the Patriots(1996-2005) and 14 seasons with the Colts(2006-2019).

damn time flies. I remember when this was  a huge story. Now Carruth's kid is graduating from high school. He got dealt  a shitty hand by his piece of shit father, thats for sure.

Every high school graduation is a small miracle. This one, though, feels more miraculous than most. The boy Rae Carruth once tried to kill has become a young man about to graduate from a Charlotte high school.

Chancellor Lee Adams has already tried on his cap and gown to make sure it fits. He has an orange-and-blue shirt and tie to wear underneath the gown and match his school’s colors. He plans to walk across the stage with the other Vance High graduates at 5:30 p.m. June 5 at Charlotte’s Bojangles’ Coliseum, not with the aid of the walker he uses less and less, but instead standing tall and holding onto the arm of his favorite high-school teacher.

Is he happy to be graduating?“Yeah!” Chancellor Lee said, as we sat together Monday at a picnic table at Freedom Park.Chancellor Lee is 21 years old. He has permanent brain damage and cerebral palsy owing to the chaotic circumstances of his birth in 1999, when his pregnant mother, Cherica Adams, was shot four times in Charlotte by a hitman hired by Carruth, the former Carolina Panther.

Only the 15.5 in 2021 is guaranteed for the acquiring team, and whoever trades for him would undoubtedly restructure over 2-3 years...

Not claiming to be a cap expert, here's best info I've seen...

What would happen if the Falcons traded Jones and his contract?

Once again, the key for the Falcons, if they were to trade Jones, would be the timing. Trading him before June 1 would save the Falcons no salary cap space in 2021. While they would save $15.3 million in guaranteed salary, they would have $15.5 million in prorated money accelerate onto the cap. The net effect would be a $200,000 increase in his salary cap number to $23.25 million.

Yet, a post-June 1 trade would significantly alter the look of Jones’ contract to the Falcons’ salary cap. Doing so would see the Falcons clear the $15.3 million in guaranteed salary. That would leave just $7.75 million in dead money on the Falcons’ salary cap in 2021. The issue is that the Falcons would have to account for $15.5 million in dead money in 2022. With the Falcons strapped with the salary cap this season, saving $15.3 million would be a huge benefit.

How will Jones’ contract shape up for the team acquiring him?

A trade for Jones could be appealing to the team acquiring him. By making the trade, that team would take on Jones’ $15.3 million salary in 2021 and $2 million in guaranteed 2022 salary. If that team were to release Jones ahead of 2022, they would be left with $2 million in dead money, having paid him $17.3 million on a one-year contract.

If the team acquiring Jones were to keep him beyond the 2021 season, they would have plenty of options. Jones is due to have a salary of $11.5 million in both 2022 and 2023. Thus, trading for Jones would see a team signing up for a three-year, $38.3 million contract. While that appears as excellent value, it would be a surprise not to see Jones request a new contract ahead of each of those seasons. If so, that could significantly increase the salary cap cost of acquiring Jones and his contract.

Didn’t realize he also had 2MM guaranteed in 2022. Still, the team that acquires him has a lot of options....

I always laugh/vomit when these guys in Julio’s situation get traded and their remaining base salaries seem like a bargain (because the old team has to eat huge dead money from all the upfront signing bonus money). The players demand more money from the new team to bump their annual into the new going rate, and they completely forget and ignore that the signing bonus they already got from the old team is part of the current contract and should be factored in. The new team paid for that value/dead money and the old team was partially compensated via draft picks. It shouldn’t be an opportunity for the player to double dip.

I like Julio. But don’t know if his best years are behind him. And outside of his best year 6 years ago, his numbers don’t exactly pop.

Still a hell of a receiver when healthy. That’ll be a tough offense to stop

Yeah, if Julio can stay healthy it's probably gonna end up as a good deal for Titans...

That's a big IF

Yeah, 113-1677-8 is pretty pedestrian.

Well. It’s great. that was 2 seasons ago. He’s also talked about as a top 2-3 WR in the league for the last decade and TDs don’t exactly reflect it. Catches and yards Are there (mostly) tho. This move could be a shot in the arm and he puts up his best year of his career, he’s that caliber of a wr

That's going to be a potent offense. Henry, Brown, Jones and Tannehill. I remember the days when you wouldn't want anything besides a Titans RB in fantasy football, how the times have changed in recent years. Interesting tidbit here as well :

Last 24 starts:

Tannehill:
Passer rating: 110.9
Yards: 5,912
TD's: 61
Int's: 11
Completion %: 66.6

Mahomes:
Passer rating: 105.2
Yards: 6,940
TD's: 57
Int's: 11
Completion %: 66.2

The aggy was a joke under that goof Gase, but something clicked when he became a Titan. Besides yardage the numbers are nearly identical.
