What's the controversy?  You can't even do that in football anymore unless you're inside the tackle box.

Also, what are the odds that ESPN would be ignoring the action on the field for any given play during Sunday night baseball?  Have to be pretty far up there.

They had Flaherty on and mic'ed up for an in-game interview, and A-Rod's first question was:
"You grew up in the LA area a big Kobe Bryant fan, and he was just inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame last night.  What was it like to grow up as a Kobe fan in LA?"

I wish I were kidding, but he actually asked that and Flaherty rambled on for several minutes about how much he enjoyed watching Kobe WHILE THE FUCKING BASEBALL GAME INVOLVING HIS FUCKING OWN TEAM WAS GOING ON.

The ESPN Sunday broadcasts are so bad that one would think they're actively trying to kill the sport.

They do seem to be trying to send out the vibe of "Hey, I know this shit is boring but don't worry we'll talk about other stuff to keep you entertained."  I don't get it.

Which is funny, because that approach actually makes the game feel boring. If they don't care about what's happening, why should the viewer?

In the first inning the ESPN dopes are rambling like local broadcasts teams would do if the game was 15-2 in the 4th.

Announcer, " I'm  thinking that pretty much does it...  That pretty much makes it insurmountable." LOLz

A one run shot that makes it 16-4.

yeah i was watching, and i was rolling my eyes going, "you have got to be kidding me." there's a baseball game taking place. you guys are being paid to give us the pxp and color commentary, and yet you're probably the 2 or 3 people in the building who are paying the least attention to the game, and worse, you're talking over it while i try to watch! the five second sound bite of Pham telling Arenado that he'll love St.Louis was more substantive than the entire interview with Flaherty.

Looks like it gets the bill of the helmet, but still.

They have Conforto, Nimmo, & Almora already on the DL. Current OFs are Dominic Smith (a 1B), Johneshwy Fargas, & Khalil Lee.

Got a bit more than just the bill of the helmet

ESPN to do Last Dance style documentary on Derek Jeter, to be released in 2022. I’ve literally never been this excited in my life for a film to be released. Fuck yes.

So seven episodes of porn reenactment with Jeter slaying majestic pussy in New York and around the world?

Then just one recap of his baseball exploits…

tell me baseball isn't the greatest sport. we've gone from the days of Cap Anson, Moonlight Graham, and Stuffy Stirnweiss, to the days of Yulieski Gurriel, Odrisamer Despaigne, and Johneshwy Fargas.

A couple more fun names just from this one incident.
