Thanks for the heads up.  I'll have to set me DVR.  The think I like about TCM is that they show movies unabridged and unedited.  I'm sure there will be disclaimers and warnings before the movie starts.

Young Al’s parents took him to the theater to see this back in the day, this line still resonates, because young and older Al is half Irish.  The parental Czervik’s still feel like they failed as parents by doing this.  I feel they excelled as parents because of this.

My parents took me to see this when I was 4.  Papa notacat was nothing if not thrifty and I assume a kids ticket was cheaper than a babysitter.

The only things I appreciated were the farts around the campfire and mongo knocking out a horse.  It wasn't until many years later I watched again and appreciated its true genius.

I've said it here before, but it bears repeating:  Mel had an absolutely monster 1974, with both Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein released.

Edit.  Some of the production trivia from Wikipedia is still astounding:

The universe worked its magic to make sure the right people made this movie with the right actors.

True.  Even as appealing as it seems to have Richard Pryor playing Bart, I think the role needed to be played mostly straight.  Just a kind of "can you believe this shit" look that Cleavon pulled off beautifully.  I doubt Pryor plays Bart that way.

We got my young daughter the No Stress Chess game for Christmas. (For those that don't know, it teaches you chess by drawing cards that tell you what piece to move, and how they move.)

No one in my family will play with me because every time I draw a Pawn Card, I say "Mongo pawn in game of life."

Given that my job description seems to change hourly over the past 11 months, I've gone to alternating between that and "I'm your huckleberry" when people ask me to "pivot" yet another time.

Slim Pickens just kills in this movie.  The shitload of dimes line is my favorite.

I use that line in internal meetings when you get to a point where no one is sure what the next step is and the room gets quiet.

Also zero commercials..at least I noticed on Saturday night

No commercial breaks on TCM. They have promos and shorts between movies. It's the last castle of classic film. It may eventually go the way of AMC, which was bad and good for different reasons, but it's loss would be devastating.

you guys should check out the Watch TMC app if you’ve got it on cable.  Good movies for listening to and good stories.

Then one day, I was just walking down the street when I heard a voice behind me say, "Reach for it, mister!" I spun around... and there I was, face to face with a six-year old kid. Well, I just threw my guns down and walked away. Little bastard shot me in the ass.
