Random thoughts that don't warrant a thread

Merle Haggard was right…. “Before microwave ovens….”

Fuck microwave ovens. They fucking suck. Whoever invented them needs to rot in Hell.

Wrong. My wife tried arguing that once we got the air fryer, we didn't need the microwave. A microwave is a highly functional and efficient appliance.

I never heard of any anal leakage that wasn't unwanted, so it seems like a redundant phrase. Not sure if any other alleged foodstuffs cause anal leakage.

Desired anal leakage is surely a thing, right?

I think you're on the right track.

Often referred to as sea dogs around here.

In Spanish they’re lobo marino I believe,

Which makes sense.

I went to the Galapagos and was able to get close to and interact with them.
They are a lot like dogs.

Their pups are super curious and act like dog puppies.

I’ve had neck and shoulder pain for most of 2024, and finally went to see a chiropractor that specializes in just adjusting the top 5 vertebrae.

The doc said I would feel discomfort for the rest of the day as my neck realigns, and he wasn’t joking.

My neck feels like a toothpick holding up a cannonball. And I’ve had a headache that is still lingering after 10 hours.

Going to shut it down and go to bed. Let’s hope it’ll feel better tomorrow.

After I posted last night, the headache got really intense so I took some advil and went to bed.

As for the neck and shoulder pain, I still hurt a bit when I woke up at 4AM on the couch, but it was gone when I got up at 9.

I know several people who go to the same chiropractor. When you meet him, he seems like a quack, but the results speak for themselves.

Someone "stole" 7 lawn bags of old leaves from in front of my house.  Maybe "stole" isn't correct but i collected the leaves and, after lunch, put 8 bags on the street for pickup tomorrow . Walked out an hour ago and only one is still there. No clue what someone plans to do with them

Some teenager's dad is about to be super pissed off when he discovers they have been transplanted into his yard by the teenager's friends or enemies.

I trip out on this kind of thing.  When you think about the exponential speed at which technology is developing, assuming that the arc continues, where will humanity go?  Will it exist?  Will we blend our thoughts with AI?  And what about 1,000 years?  100,000 years?  These are still miniscule amounts of time in evolutionary history.  This site has some cool predictions.

I found that horribly depressing, and frightening for my kids and grandkids.

I cringed when Mrs Brat said she wanted to go shopping at the Round Rock Outlet mall.
I’ve avoided the place for almost 10 years, but am pleased to see there are very few shoppers here.

of course there are the ubiquitous idiots walking around shouting with their Bluetooth phones.

Having a mansplaining session with Miz Long this afternoon, on when holding is or is not called in football. Included the difference between holding by offense versus by defense, then devolved into (a) why refs call or not (mostly depending on what Louie and Fingers tell them the Boss wants), and (b) why hold in the first place.

Having gotten through that, more or less, she asked how the coaches could break the holding habit of their players. Practice scrums with actual refs, sure, okay... but...

Here's her (almost) random thought: like those dog-training shock collars, why not shock jocks? What? Well, if you get a jolt in the balls any time you hold, wouldn't that train you?

Finding it hard to disagree that it might just work.

My coworker is great at bargain hunting. Some of the stuff he came up with in the past were amazing, but the latest one takes the cake.

He’s leasing a 2023 Mercedes EQS SUV for $500/mo. No money down, got the $7,500 federal tax credit. So he’s essentially driving around in a $115K after TT&L car for less than $200/mo.

Im constantly amazed by what he comes up with.

When I say that I don’t believe I’m better than someone else, many times that’s as flagrant as a lie can be.

Yep, I share your confession.
And to be clear, that’s not because I think I’m particularly great. I’m kinda shitty, think and do lots of stupid shit, etc.
It’s just that the vast majority of people are REALLY shitty, and REALLY stupid. So, “better” is very much a relative term.

Random thought today as I heard Snoop Dogg pitching T-Mobile or iPhones on the radio (and yes, I listen to terrestial radio because I'm old).

Is Gen X propping this guy up?

Boomers are like Linda Tripp-- this Snoop Doggy guy is violent and his music is vitrolic and don't let our kids listen to it.

Millennials weren't alive when Snoop Dog was popular save for like 6 weeks when the "Drop it like it's hot" Pharrel song was big 20 years ago.

Gen Z and Alpha don't know who this guy is, musically. He's their black Willie Nelson as a weed champion for legalization and culture, at best.

But Gen X. We love Snoop. We were the prime audience for MTV when Snoop's videos were on every other song and Death Row was a thing. We made The Gourds cover of Gin & Juice an unironic and cringy staple at our fraternity mixers. Enjoying Snoop is/was our personality.

We've taken a self-admitted violent gang-banger, who was once on trial for murder, and whose lyrics are the definition of misogny and turned him into a face of consumerism for an aging generation based on us not wanting to get old.

How else do we explain his appeal to cover the 2024 Olympics, his iPhone jingles, podcast with Martha Stewart, etc.?
