What a fucking writer.

I think Hemingway is the one that actually fit that literal description.

Saw this letter from John Steinbeck to Marilyn Monroe. Kinda interesting for the Austin angle. I wonder if this kid was a running buddy of Armybrat’s great grandkids.

That second paragraph was a nice way of saying he thinks your shit doesn’t stink.

I love both Steinbeck and Hemingway.
I loathe Faulkner.
Marilyn was sexy AF.

Until we visited Key West last year I did not realize how wise Hemingway was in his choice of wives.

Got sent home from work with pay from a power outage, we got some heavy wet snow overnight.  The drive in was a bit treacherous with downed tree branches littering the roads.  Hard to believe some businesses here in NY don’t have generators but glad this one doesn’t.

Store brand Allegra is almost half the price of name brand. Under what circumstance and through what reasoning is anyone buying the name brand? I sort of understand that some people can taste a difference in generic and name brand food, or have convinced themselves that they can, but that is at least a physical sense of taste, and the price difference isn’t 2x like Allegra. Obviously people are buying it or it would be removed or priced different. I just flat out don’t get it at all.

It’s not reasoning, simply a lack of understanding that they are effectively identical. I would bet many wrongly assume it’s like generic cereal or soda in a grocery store: “close but NOT the same thing”.

Getting together with some old friends this weekend. Night hunting pigs with thermals, day hunting turkey, and a bunch of bad decisions. I also made this tonight for evening entertainment.

Potato gun? What is that?  If potato gun, you need to sharpen the end.  What is your fuel?  A propane torch fitting epoxied into the ignition chamber works well.  If I recall correctly, about three seconds worth of gas is ideal.

Yes, potato gun. I couldnt find any 4" wash out chambers so I had to use 3".  I have a Coleman lantern ignitor if you look closely.  I use Aqua Net (cheap) hair spray.

First time this has ever happened in my career. I've seen coworkers throw temper tantrums and quit on the spot. Seen them tell the boss "hey I quit, blah blah down the street is paying more". But I've never had one show up to work and leave within 60 seconds without saying a word. We called her cell to see if there was a problem or some kind of emergency. No response. Hasn't shown up to work since. Blessing in disguise maybe?

Are there really people who open their eyes in the morning full of energy and super excited to hop out of bed and do the mundane shit of life? I don’t think that has ever happened to me. I literally hate the sound of my alarm. I just want to lay there for hours and never leave. I drag like shit even after a vigorous shower. My brain doesn’t even want to think until at least 9:00. I fucking hate “morning people” and, if they truly exist, they must be complete psychopaths.

From 5-7 in the morning is the only time I have to myself. My coffee, my music, my mundane tasks, and me. Shit hits the fan after that.

I’ll bet you’re one of those assholes who likes to stay up after 9:00 p.m.

This is me. Sorry.

But if you talk to me after 9:30pm, you'll get told to fuck off.

Yup, because that’s the only time I have remotely to myself, when the kids are in bed, wife is watching her bs tv in the other room, and I have an hour or so to watch something or read a book. It just makes more sense to wind down at night.  My daughters school starts at 7:30 so 6:30 is already “fight with her to get ready and out the door” time. And in the morning I just know the shit of the day is upcoming, not exactly relaxing. Sometimes I manage to get to bed on Friday early enough that Saturday morning can be pleasant but it starts no later than 7:30. Either way I’m just always tired as shit, mornings are the worst.

We will.  After the beer drinking we will stand 75 yards away and try to catch tennis balls as well, because we are really smart.

I'm a dumbass. Went to "The Batman" . The screen presentation was sooo dark(not the theme), but I kept sitting there thinking the next reel will be better. Nope.Hardly knew who the characters were unless they spoke. Movie ends and I tell the kid waiting to clear the theater. " No, man that's the way it's supposed to be, you know it's a dark movie"

get home check the interwebs, Surly Movies... and no mention of the fact that it's like the last battle in GOT. That dark.

I go to the theater's site and level my complaint. Messaged back, " Sorry, free tix for you, we were having issues."

Guess I'll go see The Batman. For the first time

Flying to Dublin in May.  Currently just in economy with the poors.  I'm 6'5". Normal domestic flights, I am fine for the most part.  My knees tend to hurt by the end.  8 hour flight from O'Hare to Dublin.  There are several economy plus seats available.  Is it worth the extra $139.00?  I assume it is just for sheer comfort.

What happened to the thread about some 40 year old Park Cities milf sending nudes to a coach? I commented on it, was quoted, and then told it was gone. I was part of "the club" on the scat site or was it just taken down?

For a big dude like you, the extra room in economy plus is worth an extra $1,000.  $139 is the best deal you will ever see and you should take it.

In addition, on check-in, ask if there are any upgrades to business class.  On flight day, those will typically be discounted to 200-300 (on advance purchase, it's usually an extra 1500-5000).  At $250, it's also a bargain, particularly for a big dude.

On Tuesday, my friend went in for an ablation procedure to treat atrial fibrillation. It's supposed to be a minimally invasive procedure, and for some, it can be an outpatient procedure. But there were, as the doctor said, "COMPLICATIONS".

For some reason, my friend start losing blood. A LOT of blood. He started bleeding out and lost about 2L (out of 6L in his body). He went into cardiac arrest and the hospital called a Code Blue. They did chest compressions and probably used a defibrillator to get his heart start pumping again. He woke up the next morning in the ICU and said his chest was black and blue from the compressions.

The fucker is only 42, in the best shape of his life, doing multiple sprint- and half-marathons in the past year. His kids are the same age as mine, 9 and 7. It's fucking scary how a routine procedure could go so wrong.

That’s scary as anything. My mother has afib and has two ablations. We have a bleeding disorder in my family. I’ve been extremely worried about bleeding each time.
