You'll have to forgive Stassney. He's the one person on the planet who took Biden being pushed to drop out harder than Joe Biden.

This is inaccurate: Donald Trump clearly took Biden dropping out harder than Joe Biden.

So you plan to start one 46 months early? Are you sure that’s an effective strategy to demonstrate how inappropriate you think it is to start an election thread 10 months early?

And why would we need another thread? Why not just ask to have the title of the 2024 thread changed?

literally read what I wrote above this. 5 hours before you posted.

You'll have to forgive @aggie08. He follows me around thinking my internet posts are super cereal and gets defensive about hyperbole. Landing an insight straight was proof positive that the dem strategy of abandoning candidate incumbency will EVISCERATE DONALD TRUMP!

Don't be so damn sensitive. I love your usual positivity and schtick around here. You're wrong (sadly) about Biden still having a chance had he stayed in the race, and that's okay.

In fairness to this congressman, he saw a comment on a X post that stated that the Biden Admin is pumping up EV sales with taxpayers dollars. Perfectly reasonable to use that as evidence against the secretary of transportation in a hearing.

hmmm

maybe this goes without saying, but I hope he has a spot in the Harris admin. do they keep him in his current spot or propel him into a larger role (although, I'd argue his is one of the most important cabinet spots we have). without internal infrastructure that keeps the cogs turning. this country stops in its tracks. puns intended

I’d tell him to take his pick.

I think Democrats need to understand that a great many stupid people will watch that and come away angry at the smart person who made the dumb person look stupid because they sympathize with the dumb person. Most people didn’t like and resented the smart kids.

I’m convinced that the real damage caused by social media and the 24/7 news cycle is allowing so many dumb people close access to other dumbs that they can identify with instead of letting journalists filter that stuff through a more neutral lens.

Add the dumb people can gather together to gang up against any rational thoughts.

Which also happens in junior high to smart kids.

Take this written exchange: “Rep. Burlison asked if the Secretary was concerned about electric vehicle fires that are difficult to suppress. The Secretary pointed out that gasoline vehicles also have a significant fire risk while also emitting deadly pollutants that impact Americans.”

Cool. Reasonable discourse.  Sec. Pete seems right, no one is embarrassed, we got to the facts.

But on tv or social media every dumb person is remembering a time a teacher or some smart kid made them feel dumb and how awful it was to stammer and stutter and realize you’re being embarrassed.  And they’re moving to Team Dumbass Burlison out of spite.

Most people don’t watch Congressional testimony. The shit that moves the needle almost never happens in Congress or on a 24 hour news set.

The stupid people you’re referring to, the ones that mattered in this election, were affected mainly by Israel/Gaza and/or inflation. Another bunch of dumb shits listened to Joe Rogan. None of those folks have their votes swayed because of a bit of snarky back in forth from the Capitol.

Media personalities are mostly self-important hacks playing to the lowest common denominator for clicks. This gets clicks from the relatively informed and curious. Those folks aren’t going to change their vote because of this. They’ll amplify it to their teammates as either “owning” the other team or spin it as out of touch.

This is theater. Don’t overthink it.
