Sometimes you gotta stop in random ass stores, not because they have the really great shit you’ve been hunting for, but because the solid stuff that’s still hard to find can be had.

Thank you, Grasonville, MD!

Today was a good day. It’s been tough in Houston finding ER10 and Blantons and then I got lucky!

My thought exactly when I saw that.  Save some for everyone else, asshole.  This is why there is a run on fucking everything good right now.  It's like when ammo was hard to find a few years ago because motherfuckers would hit the store when the shipments came in and buy everything right there.

newb here just getting back into the good stuff.  So I really liked the Balcones Brimstone, but not the ~$60 price.  Anything comparable in the $30 range?

currently drinking Old Forester BIB and that's very tasty as well.

Has anyone tried the Buffalo Trace OFC 25yr? $400 for a 2oz pour but bartender claimed it was really awesome. Had some of the WLW instead.

I have a bottle of the ‘93 and it’s much better than the ‘89 I tried side-by-side.  I’ve also had the ‘83 and that was one extraordinary pour.  The ‘93 has some cherry on the nose with cocoa, vanilla and heavy caramel on the tongue.  Nice long sweet tobacco finish.  Good stuff and worth trying.

Brimstone is definitely too smoky and char for me but I like the concept. Anything else out there that isn’t as overwhelming?

not too smokey for me, but I love super smoky mezcals so that has numbed my pallet a little bit to the smoke.

Weller was $34.99 for 1.75. I’m okay with that.

I’m sipping on weller grand reserve tonight it’s a decent daily drinker. Can’t stand willet though but the bottle looks cool

Paging Huge... hit those PMs!
ok gimme a minute

Also. Acquolina in Aspen might have the best bourbon collection I’ve ever seen.

They have Tornado at $250 and PVW 23 at $175.

A handful of things way above that but I was drinking RHF and ETL at $16.

Some Hirsch was $775 and Celebrations was $900.

Anyway it’s the tits if you get up that way.

Would be interested in hearing your thoughts.  Were you in Kingwood?  I know a shop here that has a few cases.  So much it made me worry that ROCC rejected their choice.

Interesting pick in the 'burbs this weekend, Russell's Reserve Single Barrel River Oaks Country Club Pick. Should be tasty. One would think those rich guys know what a good barrel tastes like.

They don't

Upper left corner has an older label 1L owa. Not SW tho, those are squat bottles with paper label.
Ah ok, so is mine the same? It's a 2016 handle, and I actually have one more unopened.

PS I'm looking to buy a 2018 Thomas Handy if anyone is selling.

I got the lovely Wyndham Garden Inn for $130 a night.
My Beretta is on the nightstand but at least it is close to downtown.
They had Weller SR for $40 and Buffalo Trace at near $50 at Pinkie’s.
I chuckled and walked out quickly.
I’m eating at Opal’s Table and they have a great selection here.

Pinkie’s has a great Buffalo Trace store pick.

Opals is good food and definitely solid bourbon selection.

Not bourbon, but why do I keep seeing stuff about Crown Royal Peach? I know people are basic, but adding artificially flavored syrup to whiskey before bottling is just criminal in my mind. If you want a whiskey cocktail, use fresh fruit, or at least mix it with your syrup after the fact.

Your browsing history is probably super trashy and low class. No offense.

I follow local liquor stores which often post when new beers and whiskeys come in. They often post when good stuff comes in (Eagle Rare, etc.), but today one posted this Crown peach bullshit. No thanks.

On the more gentlemanly side of the maple conundrum lies purity in multiple forms:

On a hunch, I dropped by a local honey hole looking for Weller, but came out with these boys instead. I know this isn’t the tequila thread, but if you have an appreciation for the juice, those Sazerac barrels work wonders!
