I wasn’t complaining and my sarcasm didn’t translate well. More than happy to get the KC12. It was on the allocated shelf at my local Specs. I asked if they limited the number bottles I could buy and they didn’t. So I bought the last 5 (and I guess the price was slightly under $60 because they’ll case price when you buy what they have left if it’s less than a case) and the cashier offered the W12 from under the register.

Yeah, about the cheapest I see KC12 in these parts is $60, so $65 isn't bad at all.  Plus, it's good.

If you don't like the KC12, give 'em as gifts when the holidays come around.

i was at the gift shop but didnt remember any for sale.  about how much were they selling for?   the bar had hundreds of purple tops.  its one of my favorite bourbons ever.  i feel like ive seen it online in the $400 range, but even as good as it is i'll never spend that much on a bottle of bourbon.  probably the most ive ever paid was $250.

Believe it was $350-400 in 2015

Paid (probably overpaid) $600 for this last month. But I’ve never tried it so figured it was worth a shot. We finally finished the renovation so had to keep the cash bleed going.

This is good. It could be great. I don’t get the mixed reviews from some very big names. Not Minnick. Fuck that guy.  It’s not overly oaky. I don’t know where the hell that came from.

Big, fat caramel note with a subtle maple reduction on the backend. I don’t get chocolate at all. I should have bought 2. It’s the best of the wood finishing series.

Damn, use to check this thread religiously then ...well got priced out of bourbon to be honest. Those Weller prices up above are almost at NYC prices, still a few bills short for everything but the 12yr. Anyho, doing a favor for my bro.

His buddy just had shoulder/bicep surgery but lives up here near me. So doing him a solid and instead of wine.com gonna just pick up a "nice" bottle and drop it off myself today while doing errands. Any suggestions? Limit is $80 but really anything good below that will work. I think I got an okay idea on what will work but figured I'd ask surly experts for any tips. Thanks in advance!

OF 1910 (or 1920 -- not my jam personally, but a lot of people like the 1920)

4R Small Batch Select

Larceny Barrel Proof (Batch A124 if you can find it -- really good stuff)

Russell's Reserve SB

Woodinville Cask Strength

WT Rare Breed

I had a New Riff SB store pick out here not long ago that was really good for about $60.  The regular single barrel is pretty good, too.

Also, brown water may have some KC12 he can sell you . . .

KC12 just isn’t for me. They proofed it too low. The best KC I’ve had recently is a KC “9” pick at Longhorn Steakhouse.

You said enough by saying longhorn steakhouse pick . Blessed to still have 1 more of the 14 years released during covid . I've had a few other of their picks . So good

Out of the KC products I’ve had, the Longhorn pick, 14+ years and KC 25th Anniversary have been my favorite.

Ripped through the Longhorn picks. Down to 1 bottle of KC25.

Is it any good?

Yes. It’s what a very good bourbon was understood to be 20-25 years ago before people got gulled into thinking that single barrels were necessarily good and 12+ was the sweet spot. It’s strong, satisfying, not to sweet and very easy. Tobacco, light honey, cinnamon, cream. it’s worth $50, and twice as good as most bourbons double the price, which isn’t saying much.

Went to look for some WT8 today and came up empty. Ran across this and snapped it up. This was purely based on a review (here or elsewhere) I read saying this was really good. Course I could also be way off because I also recall a lot of people bagging on GB. Anyways, I’m gonna open it up later tonight and give it a whirl. In the meantime….anybody have any thoughts?
