One of my go to bottles. Always have it in my bar. The bourbon club I'm part of here did a blind tasting of several 10 year bottles. One was a Pappy. Russell's was the unanimous pick. Costco has it at a great price.

Pretty good. A little hot. But  it comes with to the territory on a Heaven Hill high proof wheater. IMG_2591.thumb.jpeg.5f3b15a4f6279efc864e3e030735a5dd.jpeg

Drinking B524 tonight. Really tasty, but it’s the only larceny barrel proof I’ve had so I dont have much to compare it too. Come to think of it, it might be the first barrel proof wheater I’ve had. I’m a fan.

Finally got my hands on one of these. I had seen them out in the wild but at a ridiculously high mark up. Found this one for $90 which I think is almost double retail if my research is correct. But based on the other prices I’ve seen out there I decided to jump on this opportunity. I’ll open it up at some point tonight and give it a spin. Never had it so I’m looking forward to it.

I think you did well.  I can't find ETL for anything close to $90 out here.

It’s a solid bourbon. Nothing really jumps out at you. At least not to me. But my palette is still a work in progress and I’m not able to differentiate between flavors that others claim to identify. Oak and a light sweetness is there. A little thin. Classic bourbon profile but nothing really unique. And I suppose that is the draw? You’re getting a really good bang for the buck when paying retail. And honestly I don’t mind that I paid $90 for it. Because those other prices I’ve seen are absolutely ridiculous and I am glad I didn’t pay into the triple figures for it. But I can say I got a bottle and have had an opportunity to try it. Will continue to drink until empty.

ETL back when it was $32+tax and collecting dust on the shelf was always a buy. Nowadays the 3 I have are collecting dust. I’m not turning it down if someone wants to buy me one, but there’s a lot better whiskeys out there for significantly cheaper than you have to pay to get your hands on Elmer.

If you were planning a bachelor party and are looking at a half day of distillery visiting from Louisville, what spots would you hit up?

This group is light on bourbon snobs and heavy on just wanting to get drunk and have fun

BP wheaters aren’t easy to come by. Larceny is probably the easiest one to find off the top of my head.

I don’t think BT intended to be anything more than a tribute to Elmer. Then the bourbon boom happened, and it got a reputation as a more aged Blanton’s for $40. Any bar charging more than $10 a pour should be publicly shamed.

I have no idea why ETL is on Spec’s call list. I assume it’s based on how many cases they get. I’d much rather call me for Stagg Jr or Antique. But I always pick up my bottle in case they want to throw me some party favors while I’m there.

I’ve had one bottle of this (I’m a regular drinker of the 10 year noted above). This bottle was wonderful. Anybody know is of something similar that can be found regularly?

Where are you located? I’m unfamiliar with that site.

Did you drink a store pick single barrel or just a single barrel? In my experience, the picks are usually better. If it’s a pick, the store or group should be printed somewhere on the bottle. I don’t think WT does tags anymore.

This was just a screen grab off of the web. The only bottle I was able to but was from Twin Liquors some months ago. Here's a pic of my bottle:

Based on the lettering, that’s a pick. Spec’s and Total usually have the SiB on the shelf. Picks come in a few times a year and are priced higher.
