GG must be losing it.
Needed a 1.75 of Weller SR since I’m out. NW Hwy location was out at $39.99
Greenville ave location shelf was full but at $56.99.

Forget what Rice charges but always on the shelf. Give em a call.

After reading this and having just paid $80 for ETL at Spec’s I’m concerned BT is going up across the board. GG is always MSRP in my experience.

I think it only fair that I get a 24 and a KR so I can have my own side by side comparison. Need a 24 too but that’s another story. Thanks for the replies.

The King Ranch price increase was unfortunate. It created a malaise around the bottle, and turned a very good product into a shelf turd. They also hit Texas with a tsunami of cases. You have to walk around the display in most mom and pop stores in Houston. Smith Street kept about a shipping container worth of it in the middle of the store for weeks.

1924 is probably always going to be a tough get unless they release a shit ton of product like King Ranch. It’s the same recipe as King of Kentucky. Most of us will never taste KoK, so of course everyone wants to try the next best thing.

1924 and KoK taste nothing alike. I am frankly befuddled by the love for 1924. I got one of the first batch of bottles and thought it was absolutely nothing to write home about. Isn't it essentially just a rebranded Early Times?

Early Times:
NAS- probably 4 yrs old
Mashbill 79/11/10

1924:
10 yrs old
mashbill 79/11/10

An extra 5-7 years of heat cycling will change the profile materially. But I pick out many common flavors.

And obviously with the sale of ET, KoK revived that mashbill and was the only one to use it until 1924. Not every barrel gets to become KoK for a host of reasons. So it’s a poor man’s, younger KoK, that is sold outside KY (even if in limited quantity).

What’s #1 in your opinion?  1920?

I'd go with:

1924 (by a pretty wide margin, but it's also double the price of the others)

1910

1920

1870

My local store still has a shelf full of 1924.  But it's priced at $170. Don't think they've sold a single bottle in 3-4 weeks since it showed up.

Found one at Twins I’m Austin for $109 today. Based on this and other review pulled the trigger at that price

Picked up Goody picks of OF BSSIB, OF BSSiB Rye, ER this week.  No complaints  here.  I’m liking the correction so far.

Final decision. I feel like you should always go with the pick. I’ll go back and grab the Madeira on Monday.

I’m sure it’s great - If you’re down with the heat then you’re in for a treat, as they say…
