Not surprising but I have been reading a lot of tweets coming out of FAU and the consensus seems to be that Herman was let go because he was actively looking for OC jobs and most think he will get the OC job at Wisconsin. He's also a raging dickhole.Ā
Ā

FAU Owls need to figure some shit out. They paid millions to get into AACā€¦.now owe Herman $4 million just to pay him to fuck off. Yikes.Ā

We had an interesting, sort of related situation on the 40 Acres.

In Dec. 1991, David McWilliams resigned as head coach and asked to be reassigned in the athletic department.Ā  He became an associate athletic director working with student athletes.

Just the year before, he had signed a new 4 year contact extension.

His base salary ?Ā  $116,000 per year.

The joke at the time was that McWilliams was in charge of hot dogs and hamburgers for the Texas Exes.

He did have burnt orange blood. But, he never coached again.

Also, he really took to the role and was good at it, so I'd heard.

So the head coaches of two teams that played each other this weekend, both were fired after the the game. That's actually rather impressive.

I'm actually curious if that has ever happened before (both coaches fired midseason after the game they played vs each other)

Mensa qualification = top 2% on any of over 200 accepted "intelligence" tests. Allowing for variation of performance day to day and instrument to instrument, it is fair to estimate that sets the bar at roughly 4% of the population eligible. Other than special programs, Texas auto-admits top 6% by exactly one metric, one that does not permit re-takes. So Mensa is perhaps slightly more selective than is Texas. And is full of nerds who think scoring well on a standardized test is something about which they should structure their lives. Plus/minus coke, monkeys, and strippers.

Yep he did.Ā  I was a freshman during his Shock the Nation year, and the dude would show up every Wednesday at the union and play the game film and provide commentary for anyone who wanted to watch. I learned a lot from him and aside from randomly sitting next to him at that Rice game we lost in Houston that time, it was just from watching his lectures on Texas football on Wednesday afternoons.

If anyone is willing to pay meĀ 268,847.46 per year, fixed for inflation, to hand out hotdogs, hand jobs and hamburgs, to Texas Exes or hell anyone please let me know where to send my CV.

Never minimize the coke, monkeys and strippers in business/group qualifications man. Just don't. Me, my coke, monkeys and strippers really don't appreciate it.

ā€œLunch with the Coachā€ was greatness. Ā I was a regular fixture there. Ā There were generally no more than 15-20 students in there. Ā Can you imagine trying to do that now?Ā

Ray Lewis?Ā  Charlie Weis, Jr.?

Big shoes to fill.

Quote

FAU football, which rose to national relevance under Lane Kiffin, has backslid over the last five seasons under Willie Taggart and the recently fired Tom Herman. The Owlsā€™ new coaching search, though, might be the most interesting one of this yearā€™s coaching carousel.

And it got a little more interesting this week, as Miami great Ray Lewis has made it known that he really wants to be the Owlsā€™ next coach, a source briefed on Lewisā€™ thinking said Wednesday.

The 49-year-old Lewis, a 13-time Pro Bowler, has observed the model of what Deion Sanders has done transforming Colorado football in the past two years and is expected to present a plan to the Owlsā€™ leadership in the next week for how heā€™d do something similar at FAU.

Lewisā€™ old buddy, fellow Pro Football Hall of Famer Cris Carter, is the Owlsā€™ executive director of player engagement and is expected to be a good resource for Lewis. A big hurdle for Lewis is, unlike Sanders, he doesnā€™t have any previous college coaching experience.

ā€œRay wants it bad,ā€ the source briefed on Lewisā€™ thinking said. Lewis lives five minutes from the FAU campus. ā€œHe really wants it.ā€

Lewis, however, is not considered a serious candidate at this point, according to a source involved in the coaching search.

The frontrunner for the FAU vacancy, according to multiple sources involved in the search, is Ole Miss offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. The 31-year-old son of former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis, who lives a half-hour from Boca Raton, is the play caller at a hot Rebels program and runs the nationā€™s No. 2 offense, putting up 7.58 yards per play.

The younger Weis was Kiffinā€™s former offensive coordinator at FAU and knows the program well. He has a lot of support from some key FAU people, according to sources involved in the search. Kiffin has strong influence back at FAU and will push Weis for the job, those sources said. Financially, Weis ā€” who makes $1.65 million at Ole Miss ā€” might have to take a pay cut to go back to FAU but a source briefed on the matter said he doubted that would stop Weis from wanting this job.

Imagine being such a shitty coach that beating you doesnā€™t save another coachā€™s job for at least an extra week

I wondered if they were making a move too soon firing him in less than two seasons at a place like FAU......but then I saw he has done a lot shitter than willie taggart so they pretty much had to fire him......plus looking for OC jobs.....never change tom

I can see why theyā€™d take a stab at ray lewis. Heā€™d be a killer hire.

SIAP

Ā thought this was funny

Ladies football, nice.

One of my favorite youth memories was assisting the girls practicing for a powder puff game in 8th grade.

I literally punched a dude to serve as the practicing qb. The two chicks that wanted to be centers were destined for a wild life. I took snaps under center and it was the first time I rubbed cooze and booty hole, albeit through gym shorts.

I bet those gym shorts were never the same.

The people from FLORIDA said, ā€œTom Herman and his wife are too trashy for this school.ā€Ā

The only way the OU downfall can get better is if they ā€œstealā€ Tom Herman away from another school to replace BV.Ā

He's a POS but a smart move long term if Herman is indeed looking at an OC position. With portal/NIL these smaller HC jobs are a road to nowhere.Ā

Ā

The difference between firing him now and waiting a month for him to be hired away is $4 million.Ā  Doesn't make sense for FAU to disregard that.Ā  Ā

I believe their chief rival, the USF Bulls, employ the hook ā€˜em sign.

The full $4mm requires that he work in the athletic department in some capacity through the tenure of his contract. I suspect the thought they could tell him, ā€œassistant janitor gets you the full $4mm. GTFO now and weā€™ll give you $1mm.ā€

Oh yes forgot about that.Ā  What happens if he accepts the assistant to the janitor role but does it so poorly they fire him? Wonder if he still gets the full $4mm.
