Am I being unreasonable? I don't think so. I spend quite a bit to make sure everything I send out is high quality at a reasonable price. That wouldn't change if marijuana is rescheduled. BUT there's a baseline I have to spend as required by law. I don't think it's unreasonable to object to two different standards.

Same, much rather deal with the moderate stoners at my regular place who answer all the questions I never asked and then act all nonchalant the tip screen at checkout while clearly expecting a tip than deal with angry pharmacists like @HRSchenker staring me down asking interrogation style questions like they are Feds...

I always just assumed it was the beer/liquor lobby. Seems like I remember reading that in every state where it has been legalized, their sales have declined.

Yep, gotta be the alcohol industry and its associated lobby. Just like how Southwest Airlines Lobby is why we don't have regional trains in the Texas Triangle.

You can tell its them because all of the reasons Lt Dan listed for banning THC: selling dangerous, unregulated products and allegedly targeting children can easily apply to both the alcohol industry and tobacco industry, they are just older and have the lobby infrastructure built up and got the right palms greased first...

I just don't get this attitude. If you recognize a new industry and you already have the infrastructure to help facilitate its growth - and in the face of the fact that yours is a dwindling industry, apart from this upstart - then why not do that? Seriously, booze and tobacco purveyors have to see the writing on the wall, right? The incoming generations don't get the kick we did from either. They are looking for alternatives. Explains why there are now entire coolers in any random convenience store that sell thc and cbd infused products. Short-sightedness has always been a major weakness of capitalism. too much reward for short-term realizations and not enough emphasis on long-term gains and impacts. anywho...

Regulatory capture has proven to be much cheaper than innovation.

Compare to prior history.  If I recall correctly, Grande communications (a broadband provider) sprung out of Central and Southwest services (CSW) which was a utility umbrella company that owned several electric utilities, including Central Power and Light....which started out as an ice delivery company.  Then electricity came along, so they expanded into that (instead of saying "no, you should only get your ice shipped!").  Then they branched off in part into broadband (all kinds of company splits and mergers in there).  The point being, successful businesses used to catch the next wave.  Now, they use the force of government to build a seawall to stop all waves.

will say I have noticed more and more selection of THC beverages coming to Specs and Total Wine as of late so have a bit of hope there might be some pivoting or at least THC industry might get their Llbby in order enough to avoid an all out ban and maybe have just some reasonable restrictions/guardrails put in place. We shall see...

I can't dispense Schedule 3 meds without a pharmacy license, a licensed pharmacist on duty at all times, DEA certificate, federal and state security standards to meet, recordkeeping procedures for on-site inspection, proof of valid contract with wholesaler, reporting requirements to state PMP, yearly state inspections, cleaning standards that are actionable on a state license if not performed, etc. Yes a smoke shop bypassing all of that would piss me off. Marijuana dispensers should be required to play under the same set of rules.

The issue isn't the regulation you follow, for many meds that is necessary. The problem is that these regulations are being applied to a drug that simply doesn't need it. Politicians are just using this as a way to muck up the sales of a product they don't like.

Marijuana should be descheduled and decriminalized at the Federal level. Then let states decide how to regulate it, the same way they do alcohol and tobacco. This isn't a "hard" or addictive drug, and the chance of overdose is basically zero. It should be treated like an OTC drug due to the significantly less degree of harm it can cause compared to so many other drugs readily available.

This is where I am at with it. But if it only gets dropped down to schedule 3, I agree with HRS. If it remains scheduled as a controlled substance medication, it should be treated like all the others. The neck beard behind the counter at the vape shop should not be dispensing controlled substances.

I don't think that MJ should be scheduled. But if it is and we are going to treat it like other medications that are controlled substances, it should be distributed through the established channels, e.g. through a licensed pharmacy.

Agree, this  is why I will pay for the medical card route (FL) until they can figure that control mechanism along with QC oversite.

Just please don't be one of the assholes who gets their medical card and then decides "I got mine, fuck everyone else" and votes against recreational weed

It is pedantic/ obtuse AF to dilly-dally around on the differences between medicinal and recreational uses of THC/ pot.

Might as well go after wheat and chicken industries.  I mean bread is OK, but that fucking cake has to go.  You can have regular fried chicken, but the buffalo wing shit is bordering on too much leisure.

I voted for amendment 3. I know what it does for me and my disabilities, so there's no reason for others not to enjoy they same satisfaction.

It is kind of interesting how US dispensaries have chosen the green cross that you see on European pharmacies as a kind of universal symbol.

If it is for recreational use, they shouldn't be. If it is for medical use, I don't see why they shouldn't.

You’ve got to love the Party of Small (POS™) government dictating what you do with your own body.

  • Women, you are forbidden from deciding when to get pregnant or receive adequate healthcare in case shit goes sideways during pregnancy.
  • Gays, you are forbidden from a legal partnership with the person of your choosing.
  • Everyone, you are forbidden from having consensual sex with whomever you choose in the privacy of your own home.
  • Trans, you are forbidden from expressing your inner gender.
  • Everyone, you are forbidden from getting a buzz or receiving comfort for anxiety/depression, chemo, etc.

The State owns your body, not you. You’re just a child.

The State decides.
