I just don't view everyone with an opposing view as a troll. I see these people in my family and out in the wild regularly and they just live in a different world. Do you leave them be or engage? I tend to want to engage. You may not. Good for you. But here we are on a message board, a place to engage, so I will.

I don't think GR is a troll in the context of what message he is trying to sell, but maybe in the way he is trying to sell it.

You’re wasting your time. He’s a troll. Put him on ignore. Stop rewarding him for saying stupid shit. You’re giving him the validation he craves and keeps him coming back for more.

You have your way of dealing with them, I have mine. Feel free to put me on ignore as well if it is such a problem for you.

Am I the only one who finds the Dem. public arguments for this commission to be inept?

They focused on truth. Why not take a page from Republicans and focus on security and safety? Instead of, we need to find the truth, why didn't they focus on, we need to secure our nation's capitol?

They also need to begin hammering home “we have Republicans every opportunity to help us investigate this” narrative. This is about to be framed as a partisan investigation, the Democratic leadership needs to be ready to counter it.

And then, they need to close by reminding everybody that the terrorists smeared dodo on the walls and furnishings throughout the complex.

The argument is not important when the other side doesn’t have a shared reality. If there are no baselines or boundaries like for example a violent mob trying to stop the transfer of power, it doesn’t matter how you frame it, the other side is not a sincere party and will say whatever rhetoric necessary or not and act however they want. There is no argument on earth that would convince them it’s a good idea to investigate the attack.

There may be sort of a co-dependency factor going on.

Cool. Then view me as a type of troll and put me on ignore. Maybe you'll stop engaging with me just like you want me to stop engaging with others.......on a message board. Yours and my prerogative.

"You're damn right it's partisan now. One side was responsible for what happened and one side doesn't want to investigate it. So here we are."

There are those who witnessed attacks against our nation on Dec. 7th and on Sept 11th and they stepped forth to do the right thing.
On Jan 6, we were attacked by the republicans. We need to investigate and root out the home grown terrorists just as we did on sept 12, and take the fight to them. What are you so afraid of Mitch, Ted and John? If you didn’t do anything wrong then you have nothing to fear.

The crazy evangelicals, the anti-government radicals, the white supremacists. They used to be a part of the Republican Party, but now they’re the core. Decent Republicans would acknowledge the crazies, and be like, what can you do, the politicians pretend to care about abortion but at the end of the day, it was about reducing your taxes. That made sense to me. There was Roe v Wade, so those people had a point. There were crazy people on #bothsides. That fairytale is over. The decent Republicans (aka “socially liberal but fiscally conservative”) can’t defend the policies anymore because the core policies are batshit insane.

On January 6 of this year the Republican Party, at the behest of trump, roger stone and a whole bunch of white supremacists attacked America. The goal was to either kill mike pence and Nancy pelosi or get pence to declare trump the lawful president. The attack failed.

Moscow Mitch wants to cover that fact up because that’s what Moscow Mitch does and frankly needs to go down in history as Benedict Mitch who sold out his country for his own personal gain.

All of these people deserve prison time and we have at least 4 years to do it.

Your political message branding sucks.  Mine was much more emotive and easily digested.  You need a second message to coordinate a moscow/cocaine mitch campaign.

Well, sure, when you put it like that, the Democrats' ideas are popular. But have you thought about what "real" Americans think? You know, the ones in "The Heartland" away from the unreal Americans on the "Coasts". Wink, wink.

I've heard a variety of versions of this, and the pain is real man.

So if Dems did it in the last election, are you saying Russia could have done it in the previous in favor of Trump?

They’re slightly different. Russia tried to influence what was on the platforms. Tech employees loyal to the Democratic Party actively suppressed stories before the election. And iirc retrospective looks at Russian influence found minimal impact in the first place.

So, surely, even more reflection is warranted for not being able to win enough elections with literally every system advantage rigged in your favor--the electoral college, gerrymandering, voter suppression, South Dakota having the same representation in the Senate as California, judges, the filibuster--and having 75% of white voters over the age of 50 inflicted with Fox and Facebook brain worms where they believe literally anything that includes the words "socialism" or "radical left."

So why are the GOP's messaging and policies so fucking unappealing?

Well the obvious answer for 2020 was the messenger was terrible.

I just see a lack of evidence that the men will get things done. I try to direct my attention towards people who have a positive mindset and actually want to get things done. The toxic negativity I see here regularly is just not healthy and does no good for anyone posting it. It doesn’t make me think less of the people who post it. Man of them are posters I agree with on a variety of things. I will not be negative or pessimistic just for the sake of fitting in.

It took me a bit to decide if this post was serious or not. You personally have stalked and negged me at least 500 times across a variety of non political posts and forums. That’s a conservative number too. Hopefully this post is you turning over a new leaf. If not, practice what you preach, sir.

Presidential elections bring out more people to vote that are typically less engaged. How do you engage them each cycle?

Oh, I don't know, maybe tell people they should start a coup, tell people Biden isn't the president and that Trump could move back into the White House?

Or maybe we should have some sort of independent commission to look at the last attempt to stage one.

You mean they worked to actively limit the fake news that Russia and our enemies (including Trump) propagated on their private platforms? The horror. You should direct your rage at the sources of the misinformation, not the platforms trying to limit it. It just so happens that your "team" lives and dies (literally) on that misinformation.

*bolded: where are you getting that info other than from your ass?

“Socially liberal but fiscally conservative” was NEVER a Republican thing.

That’s bullshittery marketing to make decent people buy GQP garbage.

The Republicans spend and waste WAY more money and wreck shit to leave for a Democratic President to fix.

See - Clinton, Bill and Obama, Barack and Biden, Joe.

You want “Socially liberal but fiscally conservative”?

Then you vote for a Democrat.

Then it's a good thing that, with Trump gone, the GOP can return to its principled conservatism roots, and abandon conspiracies, targeted misinformation, and their manufactured culture war against whatever "ism" their in the mood to use on Fox that day.

What's that you say? They'd rather form a cult of Trumpism where even politicians with the most conservative voting records in Congress get the boot for refusing to peddle their lies?

Ah well, nevertheless.

I think Biden actually will stand up to him.  He's dealt with him before.  I would love to be a fly on the wall in the back room meeting with him.

Biden needs to have a geiger counter and a poison sniffer with him the entire fucking time. I don't trust the Russians any more than I would trust a Trump son in a narcotics evidence locker.

lol I’ve got two expensive in state college students - and one wants to go to law school at Texas. So moving out of state is not an option till I get them off my payroll.

I could follow my girl to Austin in a few years......

Senate report about 1/6 insurrection: Like anyone could have even known this would happen.

Quote
Plenty of Trump supporters posted plenty of violent threats and dangerous assertions on the internet in the run-up to January 6. The report said these were found on "message boards, social media, memes, or hashtags." But intelligence officials struggled with how aggressively to police political speech, and how to differentiate the real threats from typical internet nonsense.

"FBI and (Department of Homeland Security) officials stressed the difficulty in discerning constitutionally protected free speech versus actionable, credible threats of violence," the report said, noting that officials have said they need to make improvements and do better in the future.

Come the fuck on.

It's really pretty simple.

Take any statement about "we need to block off all exits so they can't escape," and "we're coming, and we're coming with weapons," and simply copy and paste in the name "Muhammed" or "Khalid" as the author.  What would we do if a muslim dude posted those statements?  That's what we should do when MAGA people post them.  Because a terrorist is a terrorist.  Ask Northern Ireland how an approach of "only muslims are terrorists, we don't have to worry about anyone else" would have worked out for them.
