Do any of those coaches wear glasses?  Because between CB's glasses incident and RT's constantly adjusting his, and David Pierce looked like a doofus in his, we don't need bespectacled coaches.

CDC: “Sir, please make note of item 4.1.5 in your contract which states ‘at no time will glasses be worn; if your optometrist suggest classes, you are required to get the surgery at a location of our choosing.’”

You know who people were mentioning a few years ago and has seen their stock plummet?

Jerome Tang

I didn’t realize how bad KSU is this year after missing the tournament last year.

Your head coach publicly feuding with your transfer PG isn't a good look

KSU might be looking at a long cold winter in all sports unless there is a wheat or farm machinery magnate out there who loves the Wildcats.

Their best bet is probably to reanimate Bill Snyder. His decaying corpse would still figure out a way to run circles around NIL superteams with Jordy Nelson Jr. leading the charge.

Remind me what the story is with Jay Wright. I wouldn't just assume we have no shot there.  It is possible that he needed a break and wanted to give Kyle Neptune a shot at a big role.

He is "only" 63, which may seem old until you consider:

  • Mark Few is 62
  • Bill Self is 62
  • Bruce Pearl is 64
  • Kelvin Sampson is 69
  • Tom Izzo is 69
  • Rick Barnes is 70
  • Roy Williams retired at 71
  • Mike Krzyzewski retired at 73

Hell, 63 seems to be right in the sweet spot these days.  He might get 8-10 years.

Another name that nobody talks about is Tony Bennett.  Is it possible that he just needed a change of scenery like Rick Barnes?  In the six years from 2014-2019, Virginia won a title, made an  Elite 8 and another Sweet 16, going 178-36 in a tough ACC.  Their average KenPom ranking was 4.8 which had to be one of the top 2-3 programs over that time.

He is only 55.  Maybe after a year or two out of the sport he will be ready to get back at it.  He also claimed to resign due to the "current state of the sport", but maybe he would have a fresh perspective somewhere like Texas with a bigger checkbook. Also perhaps NIL will stabilize a little by the time we move on from Rodney.

Wright said he didn't feel like he had the same "edge" he had before.  And he was considering it for a while, so I'd worry his heart is no longer in coaching.

Wright is on record saying “I don’t miss coaching” so that sounds pretty final to me.

Usually those who are retired and are even thinking about coming back (even just briefly) don’t say words/phrases like that.

If that POS would have just apologized, separated himself from her right away and offered to do anger management or something, taken a rest of season suspension and donated to a domestic violence charity, he’d still be patrolling the Moody Center sideline.

But nope, he was defiant and refuses to take fault or be apologetic to his boss and then had his lawyer draft that letter that absolutely sealed it

All water under the bridge. We shall congratulate him on getting his life together and welcome him back with open arms.

(we're not doing that. It's frustrating to do the right thing by letting him go, and then do the right thing by hiring Terry, and then look at where we are now. Also, if there was any blow back to Ole Miss hiring him, I missed it.)

There was not, that I remember

It just pisses me off that he just had to do the bare minimum, apologize publicly, sit out the rest of the year, donate some money, of which he had plenty from that contract, and he'd still be here.

But assholes gonna asshole

Nobody cares about Ole Miss.

Anyone not affiliated with UT is actively rooting against us and just waiting to pounce.  Not that it should matter, but the idea that an Ole MissStep would rankle the average sports fan is laughable.

What if Beard gave a press conference and made a full apology for what happened and answered all questions on the matter of his arrest. Give Beard this option for returning to Texas.

Aren't these same people that want to pounce the same people that champion giving people a second chance in life?

You’re assuming a lot that Beard will even want to come back.  He’s got to have some terrible memories that probably haven’t healed and maybe never will.

I mean, you can also flip this and say he has to have some ragrets as well.

I truly think he thought he wouldn’t get fired and was stunned that it happened.

I said give him an option, if he doesn't want to come back or take the option, then move on forever for both parties.

Why is Beard even being mentioned? Do you not remember his response and the universities follow up response?

That you took one of the greatest Simpsons lines of all time and inserted it flawlessly into a shitfest Texas basketball thread (I guess I should just say Texas basketball thread) deserves all of the rep ever.

But you already knew that I liked you.

I've always thought that the reason Beard was fired wasn't so much about what he did but moreso about the chances of him doing it again. If they didn't think he was willing to make the life choices necessary to avoid being in the same scenario, than it wasn't worth the risk to bring him back. Not sure anything has changed on that front.

100% If losing your dream job and earning a jumpsuit photo-shoot aren't bottom enough for you, it's going to be a hell of a ride.

But hey, aren't we SEC now? Maybe we just need to embrace all our nefarious brethren and all the moral decay that entails.

Yep. If that dude is not sober and broken up with his sparring partner it's just a matter of time before something bad happens again.
