I’m going to choose to believe the reason Trilly Donovan keeps saying CDC wants Quin Snyder is because whoever is feeding Trilly information is doing it as a diversion.

I’m also going to keep choosing to believe the following is happening or has happened:

- CDC

- Nate Oats

- Raising Cane’s

- Opelousas

Mark Few. I think he has 1 more run in him. We can definitely pay him more than the 2.7 he’s currently making

Few isn't leaving. He's a member at my country club. Which is in a different state than he coaches because he likes to lay low and not deal with shit.

He would’ve taken the job before they hired Terry. I doing think it’s out of the realm of possibilities. We can give him a big contract before retirement.

I don't want Few at Texas and I don't think that's who CDC will go after.

Frankly - I think a lot of you are insulting CDC. The suggestion that Texas is about to hire Ben McCollum, Jai Lucas, Royal Ivey or even Sean Miller is fucking silly.

I think the discussion STARTS with guys like Tommy Lloyd, Nate Oats and TJ Otzelberger. Anyone thinking that CDC and Texas wouldn't be able to pull someone like that is smoking crack.

"Hey would you like $6 or $7 million per year to come live in Austin and be a part of the most prestigious athletic university in the country and potentially win its first national championship in men's basketball ever? Oh - also - once you get things rolling it's basically a blank fucking checkbook to sign whoever you want to play for you. We'll await your response"

"Oh - also - you'd be coaching in the best conference in America and our women's team is ranked #1 in the AP right now and you'd be coaching in the same, brand new arena that also hosts fucking NBA games every season and we have a megastar NBA alum worth half a billion dollars who the practice facility is named after"

Give me a fucking break.

It's my understanding that we don't compete with the largest NIL budgets.  Would we with a new coach?  Maybe.

I think this go round the next coach will have a say so in his NIL budget more so than Terry did when hired. It will definitely be part of the negotiations that coach will need X amount of dollars in NIL a year to operate.

I'd expect our revenue share to be about 3-4 million for basketball...we'll obviously need 3rd party NIL to stack the team.

So if we are currently operating at 3-4 million in 3rd party and we can add another 3-4 million in revenue sharing that will help out a ton.

Idk, I kind of like it.  It's funny.  It wouldn't work that well as a reaction emote for surly, but it works as a response for any idiotic post here.

And there's a lot.

You just know CDC scheduled his town hall on the same night as this game so he didn't have to be there to see it in person.

Wtf...

This is Davis’ second contract extension since succeeding Hall of Famer Roy Williams as the Tar Heels’ coach in April 2021. Davis earned the first extension following his debut season when he led the Tar Heels past rival Duke in the Final Four (in the rivals’ only-ever NCAA Tournament meeting) and to a 15-point halftime lead in the 2022 national championship game versus Kansas. The following season, despite being the preseason No. 1 team in the country, UNC missed the NCAA Tournament, becoming the first top-ranked squad to miss the field entirely since the tournament expanded in 1985.

Are you referring to Davis?  This is his 4th season and he's 7-2 in the NCAA tournament?

Ok fair. He has put together a string of competitive teams at UNM, at least in regular season/MWC play. My Nuevo México bias at play I’m sure.

He's probably a decent coach, but you cant overlook the 8 year stretch in a power conference where he managed a .360 conference winning percentage. For some schools he would be a fine hire. But if you look at CDC's other hires (from outside the program), they rank much higher relative to their peers than Richard Pitino.

I'd hate to be him lugging that last name around while his dad at the age of 72 strolls into St Johns and has them in the top 10 in his second season. On the flip side, that last name probably got him his HC gigs. But its a mistake to expect Pitino Sr results by hiring Pitino Jr.

~$10+ million new coach school buyout + $3-5 RT buyout + $1-2 million Assistant buyout = $14-17 million in basketball buyouts

Plus the cost of new coaches contract + assistants and you're looking at potentially $20-26 million spent

He's been offered by everyone. We certainly offered him double what he was making. He doesn't want to leave Gonzaga

I saw that but that was his contract from 2021. He was extended in December 2024

Nope, that article is from this past Saturday and has this direct quote from Jeff Goodman.

“His buyout was really high a year ago. He renegotiated – $4 million right now. Nothing. It’s nothing,” national college basketball reporter Jeff Goodman said Friday on The Field of 68 podcast. “So the big question is, would T.J. Otzelberger want that job?”

So if Indiana really wanted Otzelberger, the price tag wouldn’t be in the way. It would appear to come down to whether Otzelberger wants to leave Ames.

I don't think that's completely accurate. The terms of his new contract haven't been released.

Do you have anything that says it’s not? I’m probably going to take Jeff Goodman’s reporting over yours, no offense.

Considering his new contract which was signed in December 2024 runs through 2032, there is no way they'd have a buyout of him leaving that low of 4 million. The 4 million tracks with his contract from 2021 due to it being his salary for each remaining on that contract. He also received a 2 year extension in 2023. His buyout if Iowa St were to fire him prior to his new contract was around 18 million.

That doesn't include his december raise so potentially that buyout is even higher....I just can't imagine a world where TJ would have a ~$20 million school buyout but only a 4 million buyout if he left.

So you don’t have anything, got it. Once again I’m going to take Goodman’s reporting since he’s probably talked directly to people involved in the negotiations over what you think makes sense.

He provides no proof either. Here is the full excerpt that you posted....it even says his new contract details haven't been released.

And ofc the pro Indiana beat writer who authored the article and just took a quote from Goodman that may not even be accurate would make it appear that way.

Miller's stock has gone down since then. He may miss the tournament a 2nd straight season.

He wouldn't be a terrible hire but I think Texas can and probably will do better.
