Also, he cheated. Doesn't matter if paying players is legal now, it absolutely was not legal then

Like he was the only one. If you weren't cheating, you weren't trying. His crime was being dumb enough to get caught.

You fools wanted Lloyd?  His team can't even inbound the ball.

Used last 2 timeouts cause they couldn't get the ball in, and once they turned it over and the 2nd they nearly got a 5 second call.

absolutely would have taken him over Miller.  He will lose to Duke but no shame in that.

Holy crap ... I think CDC's batting average when it comes to coaching hires is pretty good.

Jamie Dixon has killed it.

For TCU I’d say he’s been a solid hire. Probably run his course now but that’s a dogshit program.

I like Miller as an interim coach until we hire the real guy, then maybe he can be a booth analyst for the real coaching staff, which at a minimum should include Mike Krzyzewski, Phil Jackson, Steve Kerr, and Erik Spoelstra. I also think we can get LeBron to help with recruiting after he retires from the NBA because KD can't do it alone.

My point is that CDC benefited greatly from inheriting an athletics department that already had generational coaches when it comes to Patterson and Schlossnagle. He’s a fantastic AD, but he doesn’t have a big time track record hiring national championship coaches in the big sports.

Not many do.

What AD has the lock on that?

Also Miller isn’t “coming off a scandal”.  It’s not like we’re pulling him off the street a couple of days after his show cause expired.  The conduct in question surfaced in 2018 and culminated in 2021. He’s been at Xavier without incident for 3 seasons. That’s a far cry from our SITTING COACH fucking up his off court conduct, embarrassing the university, and then doubling down on defending his dipshittery in full view of the media.

I’d love it if Chris Beard were still the coach. It’s not happening, and it’s his own damn fault. Hiring Sean Miller helped the program today. But the program is still a ways off from where it was in late 2022.

Rodney terry was a fantastic hire!

Really? That's you point? That CDC didn't go out and find the next Red Auerbach in the middle of a basketball season after the guy he hired, who apparently WAS a good coach, drank too much whiskey, got into a domestic disturbance in the middle of the night, and had to be fired?  Which coach should he have hired eight games into the season?

He worked at Rice and TCU before coming to Texas. Hard to get a track record of hiring championship winning coaches under your belt. He’s made one football hire, one baseball hire, and now 2.5 basketball hires at Texas. I think you have to let it play out before you can pass judgment on CDC’s big three hiring legacy.

he was the interim.  we gave him the full time gig after the season.  plenty of times there is an interim who doesn't get the head gig.  apparently the rumor is he was looking at Miller then but decided to hire Terry.

The only time that I ever saw Denzel in person when I was living in LA was on the floor of Pauley Pavilion (UCLA home court), so this hits close to home.

How many times has the interim who didn't get the gig taken the team to the Elite Eight?

who cares? he didn't have to hire him but he did.  I was explaining that he wasn't hired after the 8th game, he was named interim. he was hired after the season

Eh - Once he was hired to the interim and made the elite eight, it was a fait accompli.

That might be the worst Sean Miller story ever.

Rite? I was expecting it to end with @fastbreak and Sean Miller doing coke off a stripper’s tit after the game and betting on what kind of car she drives.

Worked up? You’ve been bawling with volume all over this thread for days on end. It might be funny if it wasn’t such a bandwidth drain to the readers.

My bet offer still stands. I already explained why you’re a crybaby dum dum about NIL and your last post is just more ignorant, tiny-handed fist-pounding.

<Insert all your 7 win Steve, Kenny Baker, etc crying here>

Obviously he has/had connections to a lot of these guys on staff, but Gerry seems to be really be hoping Ogden is retained as GM.

Said Terry was overruling him on personnel decisions. Gave an example that Ogden had PJ Haggerty lined up last offseason out of the portal and RT said no thanks.

(I do think there is value in having someone who knows Texas basketball like he does on staff, although it does seem a little unconventional for a new coach to come in and retain the highest ranking support staff member who was involved with the previous regime)

Odds that Ogden feeds info to 995er?

I told half of my Sean Miller story - I'll finish it off

I showed up.at the 5 star basketball camp, a 6'4" 240 pound guard - I actually got lost on the way to campus and they sent this guy Clyde Vaugn to pick me up (look him up, he was a great player), I had no idea who he was at the time.

Anyway they were like "you aren't what we expected, you don't look like a basketball player, much less a point guard.". They put me on a team coached by Goose Givens and he proceed to put me at the high post where I just set screens and passed the ball and has guard bigger 4s and 5s.

On day 2 we had the camp free throw contest. I won the team, then won our group (8 teams) and then was in the final 4 of all the groups. My opponent was Sean Miller. We knew who he was because he was the youngest guy there and had been on the tonight show. Long story short, I missed 1 (out of 10) and he missed 2. He got sent out by the "defensive tackle".

After averaging about 3 points a game, I put up a 30+ piece in the final game on day 3. I never liked Goose :).

Our fans can be so childish at times, Jesus Christ. It’s flat out embarrassing.

Whining like little kids who did it get a Twix while their mom was getting groceries.

And as I said before—if you’re angry about miller, who, realistically, do you think Texas could have gotten? Lloyd? He’s going to leave a better basketball job after 3 S16s in 4 years?

Seems like we didn't try outside of asking 2-3 guys who obviously would say no. Miller was picked 3 years ago, this was a continuation of that pick. Pretty much every board and social media account that is Texas related is meh on the hire.

Well, Quinn Ewers isn't around to kick any longer.
