But also the same Texas basketball that hasn't won anything beyond getting to three Final Fours, two of which happened in the '40s and the most recent 22 years ago.

Listening to Vecenie, a couple of mid major coaches he's high on are Ben McCollum (Drake) and Alan Huss (High Point), if we decided to go that route. Also Will Wade, but everyone here already knows about him

So can Michigan.  The buyout is a non issue they can pay him as much as we can.

I wonder if I would rather live in Austin or Ann Arbor.  Recruit in Texas or Michigan.  Gosh, it's a puzzle.

Well based off the geography discussions on here about how much better just about anywhere but Texas is to live.....

This comes off as a little uppity. There are plenty of positives for Michigan.

And for the 836th time coaches fo lot select jobs based on the cool place to live (which I know you know that James)

"Uppity"?  Odd, coming from you.

There is a shit ton of talent within throwing distance of Austin.  I guess Ann Arbor has Chicago, but not as close as Dallas + Austin + Houston.  Beyond that, money + weather + lifestyle matter.  But sure, maybe some guys prefer Ann Arbor.  I really don't care.

You're both right.  Ann Arbor is the Austin of Michigan.  Take that for what it's worth.  Actually Ann Arbor is less developed which some believe is a good thing

Living in Austin isn’t the flex it was 20 years ago and recruiting in basketball isn’t like recruiting in football. Coaches recruit nationwide. The last time a tournament MOP was from Texas was 21 years ago in Emeka Okafor and he went to, checks notes, UConn.

There are people that would rather live in Fairbanks, Alaska than Austin.  If I've learned anything it's that there is no such thing as universal preference.

Personally, I think Austin's great except for the traffic, but it's pretty easy to see that it wouldn't appeal to a lot of people.

Michigan is a good job but Texas has nicer facilities and a much nicer arena. Not sure what their NIL is like but at best it's probably a wash with Texas.

I think Texas is pretty clearly the better job moving forward but it's easy to see a coach staying at UM long term.

My point was that the buyout was a nonfactor, if Michigan wants to keep him they'll pay up to keep him.  They aren't gonna get a coach they want bought away from them.  Just like back when we hired Herman.....there wasn't a conceivable chance in hell that we were gonna money whip Harbaugh away from Michigan no matter what some idiots tried to claim on here.

They literally just finalized the extension in the last month. They could give him a 2nd new contract but I'd imagine it's not something they'd be happy about. I do think that living in reality, May is probably not just going to leave Michigan after one year though.

Would not be surprised if it was Mark Few. That's the level of coach CDC would go after.

Yeah, I wondered about Mark Few at Texas as well.

Local sports radio Austin saying Sean Miller likely to be next Head Coach at Texas.

Hard to get excited about Sean Miller if he can't beat this Longhorns team.

Just sayin'

Regardless of the result tonight, Terry has done enough to deserve a few more years as the head man of the UT men's basketball program. Momentum. Hype. Horns.

CDC would get a lot of heat for replacing RT with a guy who is 0-2 against him (if we win)

There is no fucking way CDC is firing Terry to hire Sean Miller. Which checks out because local Austin radio is full of dipshits.

Miller could beat this team by 20 and I wouldn't want him. I'd rather keep Terry.
