I'm firmly in the get a younger guy than Sean Miller camp. Did Wade sign his NC State contract yet?

Maybe CDC can give him something to think about.

That's not really Del Conte's hiring profile outside of maybe Beard.

Bowman, Floreal, Schloss, White, Metzger, and Schaefer were early 50s to mid 50s if not older. CDC does not seem to be someone that wants to hire young and it's worked for him so far at Texas.

You should really break down why those coaches were selected. Miller is not in a category with none of them. Bowman is considered the top coach in the world at his sport. Schloss was considered one of the best baseball coaches in the country and he had prior friendship with.

8 years ago Miller makes sense, now he does not.

Yup. I’ve said before I’d be all in on Will Wade

And I’m pretty sure what he and Miller got in trouble for is now legal and nobody cares or talks about their past like that.

Wade was the “strong fucking offer” guy, right?  That’s just business as usual in this day and age.

Wasn't Wade, according to the $9.95ers, lobbying hard behind the scenes for the job before RT was even fired? Like weeks ago?

the thirst is real GIF by RealityTVGIFs

I'm guessing he took NCST because CDC wasn't picking up his calls or answering his texts or DMs

We can debate in circles about Miller but the point is there's no way age would be a factor in hiring him.

Matter of fact, it's pretty obvious that CDC wants older coaches.

Every hire CDC has made outside of Sark which he technically didn’t make and RT have been top 5ish in their sports. Miller is not even top 10-15 currently in his sport. It’s objectively a bad hire based on his others.

Brother, you were in the women's basketball threads saying Vic was not a great hire because he could not recruit at a national championship level. Sorry if I don't take you seriously.

At that point he hadn’t recruited well enough to get over the hump to win a national title. I never said he wasn’t a great hire.

The only people who seemingly wanted Wade are the fans, not the admin

And we don't get to make the hire.

Wade's biggest problem is not the recruiting violations; it's that he lied his ass off to his AD and university President and stonewalled when they were trying to deal with the NCAA.

And yet no one seems to understand why CDC wouldn't want him, or why Chris Beard's incident couldn't just be swept under the rug after the lawyer's letter to CDC

Texas is a blueblood in just about every minor sport, along with football and baseball.  It's a lot easier to land a whale when you're a blueblood.  This hire is gonna be tricky.

Saw a long time ago it could be argued this was the #1 basketball job.  Lots of resources, low pressure.  Shaka was a hot coach when we got him

Any realistic candidate is going to have warts. It is not the best hiring cycle. As with any hire, you want traits that translate well to Texas. Miller knows how to coach and identify offensive talent and has tournament success. At minimum, the product at Moody at least won't make our eyes bleed.

I'm not the biggest Miller fan, but I assume he is working with an NIL budget at Xavier that is probably 1/3rd of what Texas and most SEC schools have.

What coach can get donors to support basketball NIL and what coach can generate an offense that will excite fans and bring people to games?
