Kind of like he would be able to do with NIL at Texas if we prioritized it?

Texas fans would take 3 Elite 8s, 5 2nd weekend appearances, and 5 conference championships in a heartbeat. Please give us the results that Miller produced at Arizona.

Texas ran Rick Barnes out of town with a much better tourney record than that.

This is a great thread. Glad I checked in to see if there was any good info on where Texas might be leaning on a new head coach.

So much more informative than Google search click bait stuff in here.

I'd fuck the small tit spinner and Id prefer to keep CDC rather than replace him with a female. I've see Penders and Beard got run on this page, so I'll just note Barnes is still coaching at UT so.... there's some more fuel for the fire.

I'll see myself out, have a great evening.

Well, you know it won’t be John Wayne, or George Forman for that matter.

Lowered your standards.

Lowered everybody's standards, even the players.  While he frequently speaks about God in public and on social media,  I heard he treated the guys like shit behind closed doors.  Who wants to play for a coach that treats his players that way?  I guess he thought screaming, hollering, not saying anything, and blaming the players for losses was his way of motivating the guys. I often see comments stating this team doesn't look like they gel or practice together.  It was stated that the first and second teams practiced against the GAs most of the time, not each other.  I am not knocking the GAs because I heard they were good and probably could've played in some games, but that doesn't prepare your players to play in actual competition.  Hopefully, he will change his coaching style in his next job because it didn't work in Texas or elsewhere.  Bye and Good Luck, RT

Texas Basketball Update: Frontrunner emerging

OnTexasFootball continues to believe that Rodney Terry has coached his last game at Texas.

OTF also believes there is a frontrunner that has emerged to be the next head coach at Texas.

The frontrunner ...

OTF believes Xavier head coach Sean Miller is the frontrunner to be the next coach in Austin. Miller, 56, led the Musketeers to the NCAA Tournament this year beating Texas in the play-in game before losing to Illinois last night.

Miller's teams have advanced to the Sweet 16 or better in eight of 13 tournament appearances in his career.

Age: 56
Career record: 487-196
NCAA Tournament record: 22-12
4 Elite 8’s
8 Sweet 16’s
Conference Championships:
3x Pac-12 Tournament Champion (2015, 2017, 2018)
5x Pac-10/Pac-12 Regular Season Champion  (2011, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018)
A-10 Tournament Champion (2006)
Coach of the Year awards:
3x Pac-12 COY (2011, 2014, 2017)
A-10 COY (2008)

NBA Draft picks signed by Miller over the years:
Derrick Williams - lottery pick
Solomon Hill - 1st round
Aaron Gordon - lottery pick
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson - 1st round
Grant Jerrett - 2nd round
Stanley Johnson - lottery
Kadeem Allen - 2nd round
Lauri Markkanen - lottery
Nico Mannion - 2nd round
Josh Green - 1st round
Zeke Nnaji - 1st round
Christian Koloko - 2nd round
Deandre Ayton - No. 1 overall

Along with Miller, Arizona's Tommy Lloyd is also a name that OnTexasFootball continued to hear throughout the last 48 hours.

Unicorn chatter ...

If a unicorn emerged late in the process, the name heard would be Bill Self. As much as there is some real appeal around Texas, Austin, grandchildren in Dallas, talent rich state, Moody Center,  and the possibilities of Texas basketball; Self would be walking away from his legacy at Kansas (per a source with deep ties to the Kansas coach).

A key note ...

The NCAA Transfer portal for basketball opens March 25 and runs through April 15.

as much as Lloyd is hyped for being an international recruiter, I feel like Miller was well known for that at one time as well? We could use a good Euro big man who can shoot

Lloyd is legit known for it though

Lloyd soon became Gonzaga's key international recruiter. He began to develop a niche as an international recruiter early in his tenure on Few's staff. In Borzello's story, Few recalled that one area where he wanted Lloyd to develop was recruiting, telling him that in order to become an assistant at a top program, he needed a niche. Few told Borzello,

He loved traveling over in Europe. And I told him, hey, if you want to make it in this business, you gotta develop a niche, you gotta have something different than somebody else. There's so many guys in this business, you have to separate yourself. So he kind of figured out like, "Hey, I can figure out how to do this European thing and see if I can establish a network and trust, you know, some real expertise over there." And he's done that.[9]

Among the international players that Lloyd has played a role in recruiting are former Bulldogs Mario Kasun (Croatia), Ronny Turiaf (France), J.P. Batista (Brazil), Abdullahi Kuso (Nigeria), Robert Sacre (Canada), Kelly Olynyk (Canada), Elias Harris (Germany), Kevin Pangos (Canada), Przemek Karnowski (Poland), Domantas Sabonis(Lithuania), Rui Hachimura (Japan), Killian Tillie(France), Filip Petrušev (Serbia), Joël Ayayi(France), Martynas Arlauskas (Lithuania), Pavel Zakharov (Russia), and Oumar Ballo (Mali).[10][11][12][13] Lloyd has also been integral in developing NBA players for Gonzaga like Turiaf, Adam Morrison, Jeremy Pargo, Austin Daye, Sacre, Olynyk, Kyle Wiltjer, Sabonis, Zach Collins, Hachimura, and Brandon Clarke.

People who have not coached 20 years and rheit best finish is elite 8. Hiring a dude on the back end of career is fucking dumb especially when there are coaches with similar floors but higher potential than Miller.

He's asked for name.  To be gettable, they must have a name.  Please provide the same lazy take names we've all heard before.

This.

And to further expand—stop assuming those guys would say “yes” to coming here or are interested in leaving their current gigs.

CDC needs to head fake for Buzz and Butch and watch the hilarity ensue.

If he doesn’t do this, I’m gonna count it as a missed opportunity.

There's a clip of McCasland talking up West Texas, the NIL support, and family...

I just smiled at the end of that verbal stroking, thinking it might not be Austin, but that sounds like he's fucking gone.

Chip has said behind closed doors that Miller was the guy last time before Terry was hired. That conflicts with the view that Mark Few was lined up. Either way, starting to sound like Chip had the right guy. I’m underwhelmed. Maybe he works out.
