He’d probably work out better than RT. Just don’t hire the 32 y/o version if we want any program continuity.

I read this as 32 y/o virgin

temper expectations.  We are currently transitioning from the Charlie Strong phase, to the Tom Herman phase of our basketball program....

Again, what are you talking about? Is this a Sean Miller thing?

Nah, we don’t have an interim AD making the hire based on who his Houston BMD buddies wanted

But it's basketball, so let's be realistic about what we're willing to spend.

Not breaking the bank for Oates doesn’t mean we will hire the Tom Herman of candidates - a mid major filled with red flags but was sexy because he beat OU once

Keeping costs down by hiring a lesser coach will quite likely be offset by lower Moody Center revenue.

It’s just not clear why you keep denigrating basketball.

The best Indiana could do with all their history was the WV guy. Either they suck at hiring or there were slim pickings out there.

Yeah, it's really shocking that the school that previously hired Tom Crean, Archie Miller, and Mike Davis settled for DeVries...

We gave a coach that we were competing with nobody over, and who we elevated from “Interim” a multi-million dollar buyout.

I think there’s ample willingness to spend big money.

We're gonna find out. We should be willing spend more than any other SEC school, just like in football.

He may be 86, but Paul Westhead has to be the right hire.   At least it would be fun to watch.

Hey coach, I noticed you didnt crap your pants again this game. Good job. Thats like 3 games in a row!

Hearing Danny Hurley's name thrown around this morning.  Anyone know where that is coming from?

If I'm a big name coach, and my agent DOESNT get my name mentioned in this circus, I'm looking for a new agent. Few schools can instill the fear of being poached like a school with the pockets of Texas. raises gonna be flowing like the salmon of Capistrano

We need to luck into a Beard/Pearl/Wade caliber situation.

That would be a hell of a staff. I approve....do that, CDC!

FWIW, Gerry said on this livestream that he’d be very happy with Sean Miller. Great offensive coach who could bring in a lot of international talent.

Where the hell did this narrative come from?  Miller literally has zero international talent on his current Xavier roster.

I know you were making a joke, but what I mean is that we have more history than Ole Miss and Auburn as a basketball program and they lucked into their hires.  I want to get a proven winner even if he "cheated".  Sick of watching other lesser programs have success while we sit here and play with our dicks.

Rick Neuheisel on Satellite’s College Sports Radio.  Was claiming “intel from Chip Brown” (I know……), but since I haven’t heard this anywhere else, who knows?

Yeah - thanks. I know who Will Wade is.

The point is that he is thought of very highly across the landscape and is apparently a guy that players will sign up to play for.

Lives down the street from us. His kids go to our kids school. Nice dude and McNeese basketball has been a blast here in LC for the last 2 seasons. He'd wreck shop at Texas.

I'm going to get flamed for this, but I'd like to see Greg McDermott in burnt orange!  His teams actually run plays and he seems to get the most from his players.  He's been in the Big East for a number of years and Creighton has recruited some quality players.

The similarities do suggest that

Not really. Rodney Terry isn't the worst coach in school history.  He wasn't a disaster. Made the tournament 3 straight years. 4 tourney wins in 3 years.

Even if you erase the interim year, it wasn't that bad. Closer to Herman than Strong.

In his 36 years coaching, he has spent exactly zero time outside of the states of Nebraska, Iowa and North Dakota. He seems to have a type.

Maybe CDC could open a Runza in Belmont and have the dining halls stock lutefisk?
