I mean cdc will probably wait till the tournament is over unless his guy is eliminated early. I would puke if we retained rt another season. I hate watching these teams playing with ball movement and man movement getting good quality shots and we get this shit.

Goodman wouldn't report what he did if we were keeping RT

What I want:

Can recruit well. Doesn't have to be top 5. Hell, doesn't have to be top 10 in this era of portal.

Coaches a motion offense. No players are good enough to run Iso and win consistently.

Coaches defensive intensity. I don't care if you are slow and can't jump (because that isn't really a thing across a whole team.)

That's it. Go get good players that are unselfish and put them in position to win as a team.

Sean Miller wouldn't be a bad hire. You could realistically expect to make the Sweet 16 every couple of years. That would be a level of consistent success we haven't had since that first phase under Barnes. Is he going to realistically contend for SEC titles or final fours though? Doubt it. But will he consistently get your kids to produce to the level they are capable of? Sure. Considering we have enough NIL firepower to consistently give him (or whoever is our next coach) a top 15-20 caliber roster every season that should result in a solid if not jaw dropping basketball program. If that is the ceiling of our expectations we should all be gruntled if he is indeed the hire.

Personally I think Will Wade has more upside but also more risk. That is who I have wanted us to pursue because I think the chances of him catching fire and becoming one of the top 5-10 coaches in the sport is pretty damn high. Lloyd would be a similar hire in that he has showed some growing pains since taking over at Arizona but also shown signs he might quickly become one of the best in the sport. Going to be interesting to see whether CDC focuses on high ceiling or high floor.

almost nobody makes the S16 every couple years, and miller has made it once since 2017, and that’s in the weak ass pac 12 and big east.

I didn't mean actually making the sweet 16 every season. I mean having that level of expectations for the team. Going into the year thinking "okay this is a top 15 caliber roster". I'll take being excited about the potential of the roster every year over the bullshit we've mostly had where you are thinking even in December that at best you may win a game with a favorable draw before being bounced.

Gonzaga and UH are on the longest streaks. Whoever wins on Saturday will continue their streak.

It’s not going to be Hurley.

But, if there were 2 things that might intrigue Hurley (to me) it would be 1.) more NIL funds at Texas versus UConn 2.) his ego

Allegedly Hurley and Wright are already hard passes.

god damn mcneese looks awesome. i honestly don’t see any difference in wade and miller scandal-wise other than the show-cause, and i think i speak for most of us here when i say id rather have wade than miller. i would be really interested in hearing why we won’t touch a guy like wade if we do end up hiring miller.

I remember that he basically told his own AD to fuck off and refused to answer questions from his bosses when the scandal first broke. LSU had to suspend him for his non-cooperation. From what I can tell from comments on this board and elsewhere, Beard was fired more for how he responded to the allegations rather than the allegations themselves, which were dropped. I doubt CDC wants to bring in another guy that will just tell his bosses to fuck off to save his own hide. Wade just doesnt seem to fit the CDC mold, imo.

yeah i’m just learning from this thread about wade’s handling of the situation at lsu. sounds like he’s the furthest thing from what we’re looking for…

…although i kinda wish we’d get over it and go hire us a beard, pearl, pitino type coach again. i really do.

Maybe CDC hires a dud, who knows. But until that happens, I remain optimistic he'll snag someone that has potential that surpasses Will Wade. And IF you do grab a guy that has a demonstrated history of going off the reservation and also telling his bosses to fuck off, he better have a superior track record than Will Wade(1 S16 in 10 seasons as coach). There's guys out there with every bit as much promise with a lot less baggage. CDC just has to snag one.

Not a “Homer” but by handle, but Will Wade in the current era of NIL and today’s landscape. The nation saw what “he planned” for an overmatched and size wise team, that was experienced and made the ‘24 E8.

The 1st half was a beat down both O & D wise, it wasn’t until Clemson slowed it down in the last 3 min (knowing they were a 50% FT team), that they crawled back into the game. Plus they made 3s in the 2nd that they didn’t do in the first.

Totally out coached his Alma Mater!

what i really want to see from this program  can’t be summed up with tourney results or rankings. it’s a specific look and feel from our team, a look and feel that was never stronger with me then it was on december 19th, 2009:

IMG_7474.thumb.jpeg.51e64c27493a2843f5a9050931fe1f24.jpeg

the team was big, fast, strong, physical, aggressive, assertive, confident, and competent. yes, they fell apart shortly thereafter, but anyone else who was there that day at jerryworld remembers that team and that game. you look out on the court and you see

J’Covan Brown- 21 pts reb

Avery Bradley- 20 pts 4 reb

Jordan Hamilton-large, athletic wing, future all american

Damion James- 25pts, 15 reb

Dexter Pittman- 23 pts, 15 reb

you just look at the guys on the floor and they’re huge, they’re fast, they’re athletic, they’ve got a motor, and they just play with such confidence and aggression, that it can only come from being an extremely well put together, well coached, well drilled team.

thats what i want back. there’s all kinds of different coaching personalities and styles, and im really just less concerned with that than i am with recapturing that feeling of looking out onto the court, seeing our five guys, and being like, “fuck yeah. we got this. 100% confidence.” i just want that feeling back, because if we can get back to that place then the wins and the trophies will follow.

After considering all coaches and factors I will finally acknowledge who I want (as if any of you care) by using the most important factor......

The guy who was born exactly 1 day before me.

yeah that was the team that beat michigan state two days later, got to no.1 in the country, and then had all of the fight beaten out of them by barnes shortly thereafter. low point of barnes’s career, low point of my fandom, precisely because of how sure i was that we had the best team in the country when watching them play UNC that day, and sparty two days later.

bill self probably hates this team. this has to be his least favorite team of his entire career. i can’t even imagine where his head’s at right now.
