24/7 is slow.  they didn't have Kyler Edwards most of the day yesterday, even after it was announced.

Saw that last week and thought it was just hype. Based on the next post, shit is crazy.

Any particular reason for all of these transfers, this particular offseason?

I would think most have a higher opinion of themselves as a player than coaches do, and they want to move up in competition. Some probably will move down, other factors like playing time, not clicking with coaches, etc.

The portal is great for a small amount of players, but kids are now seeing they're replaceable, imo.

One of the contributing factors to the high number of players in the transfer portal is the extra year of eligibility due to Covid, so all those seniors who would've normally graduated/had their eligibility expire now are able to play another season, and many of them are choosing to play it somewhere else.  Inevitably, a lot of these players aren't going to be able to find a new school who will take them, only to find out their old school already filled their spot.

Brock is coming back.

Febres is likely to return, but not confirmed.

The staff is talking to Ramey, AJ1, GBIII, Coleman, and Sims. Coleman and Sims are expected to move on.

Liddell transferred to Alabama State.

Hamm transferred to UNLV.

Williams is still in the portal. Now Hepa jones him.

Kai Jones declared and is signing with an agent.

Having 1,200 players in the portal is actually great for us.  We need players and there are a TON to chose from.  Beard has shown that he is great at navigating the portal and he will be able to select exactly who he wants to construct the team how he wants it.  He isn't inheriting a team full of players who will have to "unlearn" bad habits. He can start basically from zero with his guys.

Plus, the fact that there will be HUGE turnover across all teams in cbb will definitely favor the teams with great coaches, who can get the new players to buy in and play as a team QUICKLY.

Even though we all have talked about this game plenty, my favorite on that list still has to be James Banks transferring to Georgia Tech and averaging double figures while leading the ACC in blocks and twice being on the All-ACC Defensive team.   The same James Banks who Shaka believed the year prior would be a worse option to guard Marvin Bagley than 6'3" Eric Davis, even as Bagley literally dunked on Davis every possession for an entire overtime to make us lose to Duke.

We win that game if he plays Banks.

Hawaii basketball is in the Big West while their football is the MWC.  I feel confident in saying Hepa is definitely skilled for the Big West and will thrive there.  Good for him.
