Pay him

The Astros offered Correa two contract extensions in spring training. The first covered six years for around $120 million. At the time, Correa called the offer “really low.” A five-year, $125 million offer prompted Correa to say he is looking for “a big, long contract.” Team officials, according to Correa, told him “we don’t believe in long contracts. We don’t believe in big contracts.”

He wants a Lindor deal.

He will get it.

It won't be from the Astros.

this will be a crushing loss for fans, especially with all of the $ coming off the books

however if we're following the Rays model, we'll remain competitive, just sucks to see home grown badasses go to other teams, especially contenders

If he decides to sign for a shorter deal for less money to stay in Houston, I'll be thrilled. But someone is probably going to offer him $300 million for ten years. I would not blame the Astros for not doing that.

I think he'll be good enough long enough that 10 for 300 wouldn't be that bad.  The only faint hope I feel is that between Seager and Story also being FAs and with CBA uncertainty constricting the timeline, maybe the market will soften enough that he could come back.  I know I'm likely fooling myself though.

Y’all aren’t thinking long term. They need to save money for Yordan and Ted. They’re going to have to buy some starting pitching too.

Yes on Ted but I want no part of giving big guaranteed money to a guy with knee problems at 21.  And the makings of a good rotation are locked up at a reasonable rate for the next 4+ years.

They're gonna let them walk too.  They don't do long term deals anymore.
