Should we make a thread for everyone to feel sorry for WWS? None of us were ever in our 20s scraping by so it only seems fair.

Wah, you got called out. Again, this isn't just me, but everyone like me as well. You even say so in your own post here. I think you should taken break from the drinking.

Well, done.   Between that and, "lower your cost" can't fucking lose.

His troll game is strong to quite strong. He doesn’t even pretend to contribute. He’s like this thread’s personal Futureman. Salute.

I’ve contributed plenty by alerting these gas price pornographers to Google maps where it shows stations in town with listed prices for them to compare.

Being called a troll by Immaculate is the chefs kiss this thread needed after spreading his hysteria over pages, just to show everyone exactly how affected he has been by this environment.

Nobody is forcing you all take this abuse.

Someone question my logic. If my family spends 40k a year on non-mortgage related stuff like food, gas etc and inflation is 7 percent, would a $2800 a year raise offset my family's personal inflation costs? Let's say that is a pay raise of 3 percent for my family's household income. Would that 3 percent raise effectively mean our familys purchasing power remained the same year over year?

By not matching inflation percentage with raises, your employer is passing on the cost of inflation to its workforce.

it’s hard to predict and match inflation numbers. Social security cola was only 5.9% so I guess gov is passing on the cost of inflation to retirees.

Anyway, more direct stimulus to offset inflation.

This works in theory but then the FED prints more money to pay for the stimmy money. It's not like our Government budgeted for these payouts or is pulling the money from another source. Sorry Military/Post Office/Welfare, we are cutting your budget to pay for this new handout.

Budget neutral doesn't exist anymore.

At this point the only thing that's going to bring inflation down is cooling down the economy. Retail sales are through the roof, number of open jobs at all-time high, weekly jobless claims at lowest since 1969.

Doing things like the subsidies will just continue to push demand, creating higher prices. It would be like complaining about high housing prices and then giving everyone $20K to put toward a down payment.

In my eyes the higher prices are an issue of high demand in the economy. Sure there are definitely supply issues, but I think a lot of that can be traced to demand that's well above trend.

Stimulus to help with inflation is the dumbest thing I think I’ve ever heard of. Seriously.

Am I missing something other than stupid politicians pandering for votes? /no cr

Nah. You nailed it. They give zero fucks about fixing inflation because the solutions are hard. We have become titty babies and no one wants to be the one taking away the tit.

You’d think people would learn. Look at the areas with highest inflation over recent years. Housing, health care, higher Ed. All areas with significant subsidies and efforts to “make x more affordable”.

Nice money to be made across all the rates products today. I nipped a bit of the 2yr and 10yr yield futures products. They were each ~5% up on a points basis

Got a 6% raise. I'm glad inflation is transitory.

I’d love to only get a 6% raise. My company, after not giving a raise since 2019, will be giving an average of 3.25-3.5%.  I will say at least we bumped the starting hourly rate because it has been hell competing for skilled mechanical labor when Buccees pays more.

We also got a notice from different chemical suppliers of another 10-20% price increase starting in May on 3 of our chemicals (2 of which are our main ones that make up the bulk of our expenses).

"Fuck off, I'm out" seems to be the right answer here.

Too many people hiring to put up with that shit.

A lot of the 2-3 year hourly staff has. Some have almost doubled their pay rate. Myself, I like what I do and have worked myself in to a decently high position and salary for my age. I’ve looked around casually and would have to take a pay cut in most cases. Or move to Crosby.

This is a good way to send people to the exits.

We’re probably doing almost across the board 10 percent.  Less for the higher base pay.  More for the cohort between 55 and 80k.  Some people that were at 80 are going to be close to 100k base.

And I have competitors overpaying by 30k, but they are going to lay people off like crazy when it finally does slow down.

Sort of an interesting related occurrence - I’ve had 3 operator candidates from companies making hand sanitizer over the last week that are seeing layoffs or reduced hours and wages. Combination of high input costs and cratering demand.

No, regular unleaded.  North Austin.  It's even lower today.

I guess I’m not being clear. Chief said he filled up his F350 and you said why are you paying ~$1 more a gallon. Because he’s likely got a diesel and Diesel is still $4.75-5/gal in the area.

I always thought you were a Dr.

Im not getting shit for a raise.  We are paid well, but another year of no raise/bonus and I’m going back to contracting or legit trying to get on with a major. Too many people hiring to put up with this shit much longer.

A realtor taking pics of their Diesel pump is just too fucking funny

Getting a 6% raise when wages are up 5.9 % for the year should expected. Good job, no sarcasm WWS. If no bonus that sucks, but always dependent on start date. I’ve gotten burned a couple times being a Q4 hire.

people posting about years of no raises or adjustments must be the good foot soldiers/biggest squares on the face of the earth. I could probably convince you to you eat a shit taco for 10 bucks. The biggest pay increase you get is when you switch companies. PERIOD. 20% minimum.and you’re taking multiple years of shit sandwiches
