I guess that's one way to keep more people in Mexico, tariff the crap out of Chinese goods so everyone moves production to Mexico.

CPI at 0.7 for trailing 6 months.

Will be a December and January reading before inauguration. As well. And a February reading that most likely won’t have effects of tariffs if gone through on day one. Good chance of headlines with under 2% inflation in first 2-3 months of Trump presidency.

Here in the burbs you can only get Endless Shrimp on Monday's now (it was everyday for a spell), and I got it about a month ago. The waitress was annoyed at first, but by the end of the 3 hour marathon, I had won her respect with the sheer willpower that comes from the unique combination of being gluttunous + cheap. I also probably drank two entire batches of fresh brew iced tea.

He said he would fix it day one. So there’s that.

I wonder if getting into a trade war with one of our largest and closest trading partners will help or hurt inflation

Yeah but if we say enough bullshit up front, in a 2-5 years, when the consequences of todays policies are finally clear, how can we possibly say who is to blame?

We don’t use average price, you fat fucking piglets.

Turkey, for instance, is 6% cheaper than last year, despite bird flu knocking out a portion of turkey inventories. Tighter availability usually drives up prices, but Americans are eating about 1 pound less of turkey per person each year, reducing demand by more than enough to offset the supply hit.

Certain processed foods that may land on Thanksgiving tables are more expensive. Dinner rolls and cubed stuffing are each selling for 8% more than a year ago. On the flip side, sweet potatoes and whole milk have seen the steepest annual price drops, falling 26% and 14%, respectively. While fresh cranberry prices have climbed 12%, reversing an 18% decline the year before, they remain at their lowest level since 2015 — and when adjusted for inflation, they’re on par with prices back in 1987, the report said.

Gotta get chickens homie. Not sure where you're at is HOA but if not no reason not to. Easy keep up, free eggs (a staggering amount of eggs actually)

Our neighbor behind us has a few.  We get some free eggs every once in a while.  I think they're an apology for their rooster who tends to crow well before sunrise.

We only have 4 hens but we are overflowing with eggs. My kids talk about opening a stand to sell eggs (and random other herbs/veggies like basil or onions). They do their stands and have fun, but I’ve also been trying to teach them about real $/h - how long did you spend planting that onion?  How much did we spend on chicken feed?  How long did you sit and wait to make that $3 sale?
They have finally come around to farming is very hard to be profitable and should be more of a personal enjoyment thing, but egg prices keep going and we may have to revisit that math.

My mother goes to the gas station like it's Franklin BBQ for eggs

I'm no farmer -- can they lay more than one egg per day?  Ever since my wife had to go low carb and my old dog needed me to do DIY dog food we're going through eggs at a startling rate.

I’ve heard it’s possible but never seen it myself. We probably get 3.5 eggs per day with our 4. We got 3 per day with 3 hens with our last “flock” (pets).  This round of birds are not nearly as consistent about laying location as the last, so it’s a mini Easter egg hunt every day for our kids.

We thought we ate a lot of eggs until we started constantly getting 2-2.5 dozen a week.
