Most of the rest of the world stands ready to have a sane conversation on immigration.

Except the 'sane conversation' has been going on for 50 years and it's brought us only limp-dicked half measures that have not helped or in many cases have made things worse.

There is 1 and only 1 solution: find and expel the illegals already here, and eliminate the incentives that drive further illegal immigration. And the sad fact is that almost NO ONE (including Trump) stands ready to have the conversation about getting this done. The people in power won't have it because it goes against their interest (staying in power). The hoi polloi won't have it because they are either too apathetic to care, too stupid to recognize the seriousness of the problem, or too hamstrung by womanish sentimentality to do what is necessary.

I agree.  Maybe it's time we start thinking in more global terms.  You know, since we are connected in a global sense in pretty much all aspects of life, whether we want to accept it or not.  Or we can just resist the inevitable and slowly collapse like a flan in a cupboard.

You tell me who the fuck is putting flan in a cupboard, and I'll tell you who's about to have their ass kicked.

The militia, known as the United Constitutional Patriots, this week detained a group of 200 asylum-seekers near Sunland Park, New Mexico. According to the Times, a video from one recent encounter shows “exhausted looking migrant families blinking in the darkness in the glare of what appear to be the militia’s spotlights” and, in another video, “kneeling on the ground and embracing one another” as Border Patrol agents arrived, apparently after members of the militia had already been pointing firearms at them.

Geez, there really is a crisis at the border.

Border Patrol Authorities, Militia In Tense Standoff Over Claim To Detain Migrant Family They Caught At Same Time

Spoiler

COLUMBUS, NM—Digging in their heels and refusing to stand down, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol authorities were caught in a tense standoff Monday with an independently armed militia over their mutual claim to have detained a migrant family that both groups caught at the same time. “The fact of the matter is that we arrived at the scene first and this family should be taken into custody, neglected, and mistreated by trained law enforcement officials, not a bunch of amateurs who need to back off,” said CBP deputy commissioner Robert Perez as the conflict escalated with members of the border patrol and the militia group tugging on the arms of a trembling, whimpering 8-year-old migrant child. “We’ve been tracking this family since before they even crossed the border. While we appreciate the militia’s passion for justice, they need to realize that there’s no way they’re getting credit for these migrants. There’s plenty more out there. Go get your own. Ultimately, as long as these family members never see each other again, we can proudly say we did our jobs.” At press time, both groups had tried to claim responsibility for killing the entire family.

And if y'all don't think that's EXACTLY where these folks want to take us - including folks on this board - you haven't been paying attention.  Like, at all.

The gas chambers at Auschwitz weren't built until 1942-43.  The first formal anti-jewish laws and actions in Germany took place in 1933.  We have folks with guns running down to the border eager to get in a confrontation with the browns; we have political leaders (this guy created the AZ anti-immigrant law) using rhetoric of shedding blood.

We've seen how this shit starts, a thousand times.  And we've seen how it ends.  But hey, no big deal.  No need to sound ANY alarm until....well, I guess until we're actually USING gas chambers or something like it.

Someone on another board linked the UCP facebook page which had videos of them with guns pointing at a group where there were children I reported the group but I doubt FB will do anything quickly. Heard earlier the guy arrested was wanted by the FBI in 2017 for threatening to assassinate Obama, Hillary, and George Soros so you know that's the great christian conservatives that we're dealing with here.

President Trump’s efforts to tighten U.S. asylum laws through an executive memorandum represents the latest acknowledgment from the White House that his proposed border wall will do little to stem a record surge of migrant families.

Administration officials offered few new details Tuesday about the president’s order to the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department to develop regulatory proposals within 90 days aimed at restricting the rights of asylum seekers and speeding up a backlog of immigration court hearings.

But privately, current and former Trump aides described the move as the culmination of a year-long campaign by senior White House adviser Stephen Miller to force the administration’s hand. Miller has argued that restricting asylum would prove more effective than alternative border control measures to reverse the spike in migrant families from Central America, according to two former administration officials who worked closely with him.

Quote

In his memo released late Monday, Trump stated that the administration would seek rules to charge asylum seekers fees and block them from receiving work permits as they await court hearings, while requiring that immigration judges rule on cases within 180 days.

Yet White House allies and critics alike predicted that the changes would face legal challenges once they are unveiled, and they expressed doubt over the impact even if the rules are adopted after what could be a lengthy public process.

“There’s a limit to what regulation is going to be able to do,” said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, which advocates for lower immigration levels. “I just don’t see how this can be dealt with short of legislative changes.”

Even as the president has demanded billions of dollars in funding for a border wall, his administration has more quietly pressed Congress to end a system that officials call “catch-and-release.” Under U.S. law, Central American families with children cannot be detained for more than 20 days, and unauthorized migrants are generally released into the United States while awaiting their asylum hearings, which can take more than a year because of court backlogs.

The entire population of San Angelo, Texas arrives at the border monthly to claim asylum.  That "city" would be in the top 10% in population for the United States.

We simply can't afford to grant asylum to all of Central America.

Over 1% of Guatemala, Honduras entered US since September

we graduated 100,000 illegal immigrants from High School last year, the FUD admits it has up to 25,000 illegal immigrants receiving housing assistance while acknowledging they can only help 1 in 4 American families in need.  Please stop with the non-sense that illegal immigrants don't have access to government welfare.

Hell, Joe Biden was quoted as saying:  America has an OBLIGATION to pay for illegal immigrant health care

So which democrat is calling for open borders?

As far as I know, no democrat has gotten specific about immigration policy.  I looked on their sites but couldn't find anything specific.  But, as an example, here's what Beto says on his website, which sounds a lot like open borders:

On Immigration

If we believe that this country’s success is premised on the fact that immigrants and asylum seekers from the world over have found a home here, then let us forever free Dreamers from any fear of deportation by making them U.S. citizens. Let’s bring millions more of our fellow Americans out of the shadows and on to a path to contribute even more to our country’s success.

Let’s not only honor our asylum laws and never again take another child from another parent at their most desperate and vulnerable moment, but guarantee that all separated families are reunited. Let’s acknowledge that every man, every woman, every child in detention — including those behind fences and barbed wire under our international bridges connecting us with Mexico — are our fellow human beings and deserve to be treated like human beings.

You could have just said ‘none.’

None have given any sort of specific policy stance because they know they have to appease the far left while not acting like total loons that would ruin them for the general.  They know they need to tread lightly.  But all of their rhetoric suggests open borders.

I hope at the first presidential debate, just 6 weeks away, we can get this clarified and the moderator asks a simple question - "What should be done with immigrants who are entering this country illegally and those who are already here illegally?"

Once again, Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is advocating for open borders and "respect for the right of human mobility."

“He is creating undocumented populations in the United States, and then they’re being targeted, and their rights are being targeted,” Ocasio-Cortez said of the President.

“First of all I believe in human rights,” she continued. “I don’t care if you’re documented or you’re undocumented.”

Like I said. You've never heard a Democrat advocate for open borders. She's not doing that. Just because someone else says that's what she's doing doesn't mean that's what she's doing. Treating undocumented immigrants like humans doesn't equal "open borders."

Try not to be so easily manipulated. And by the latest fad, no less. Fear mongering about the freshman representative bogeyman that is all the rage. What a goof.
