Apparently, now we are extorting those who wish to be reunited with their children:

Detained Central American migrants who have been separated from their children have been told they can reunite with them if they agree to voluntarily deportations, The Texas Tribune reported Sunday.

The news outlet, citing a detained Honduran man and two immigration lawyers, reported that the migrants have been told they would be reunited with their children at an airport if they agree to sign off on deportations.

The Honduran man, who was not identified, said he gave up his asylum case and signed the paperwork in an effort to reunite with his 6-year-old daughter. He said he’s now trying to rescind his agreement and fight his case in court.

An immigration advocate, Anne Chandler, Houston director of the Tahirih Justice Center, told the Tribune that she’d heard of similar cases.

The two attorneys, meanwhile, expressed concerns about the validity of the offer of reunification in exchange for deportation.

A spokesman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told the news outlet that ICE was unable to look into the allegations because no identifying information was provided about the man.

We’re holding children as hostages to extract concessions from other parties. NBD, move along, nothing to see here.

They made a mistake and owned it. They may have a little egg on their lap. Compared to the shit covered in jizz that drapes your entire body, I think they they are fine. You are a horrible person, and you should be deported to Russia. You are the modern equivalent of the self-appointed whores that fucked the German soldiers during occupation.

You are a little bitch

The Russians are a great people! - DOTUS

There seems to be a lot more of them in Austin these days. We run into them at our local park all the time.  They obviously have young kids since they are at the park, but I never see them with older kids. They seem to be in their 20s as well.

Our neighborhood doesn’t have many UT students, and it just feels odd to see these young Russian moms. There are about half a dozen non-Hispanic nationalities I’d expect before Russians.

They aren’t nannies either, and their kids speak Russian and English.

Could be one dude in the area got himself a mail order bride and others followed suit.

Damn, I forgot we were supposed to get someone to look into how much money Johnny Trust Fund makes off illegals. Thanks for reminding me.

To clarify, it’s not his option to be born into it, that might be a burden.  It is, however, his responsibility to ensure it benefits society.  To do less is shitty.

Learning from the Chinese I guess?

Her mother, Tracy, came from Shanghai to give her this choice — a chance at the world's best education, a safe childhood and reliable medical care without long lines.

"I'm here to give my kids better options," said Tracy, who asked to be referred to by her first name because she has read stories about U.S. officials cracking down on mothers who come to America to give birth.

No.

From that link it appears many countries in the past 30 years from Ireland to India to Spain to Australia have restricted birthright citizenship, where one parent has to be a citizen.

That seems reasonable

There is no need to change it and we need the labor pool it brings. With low birthrates among US born citizens and high rates of retirement we need to grow our labor pool through immigration and new citizens like these in order to have stable economic growth in the coming decades.

Ok, we can do that....but they have to be white immigrants only. K?

We'd have to amend the constitution. That means it's probably never going to happen.

It’s not really a question anymore.

They have no purpose other than demonizing the “other.” Its the dog whistle their base runs to, and they’ll blow it till they turn blue.

Turn blue? Well then, by all means blow away.  :)

Been pondering Matthew 25:

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

I do hope that everyone who is pissed off by this policy gets their ass to a protest about it.  I realize it seems like a protests can seem pointless, but it gets screen time and keeps the pressure up. There are protests across the country, many of which are targeted for June 30.  Search for "families belong together" + your city name.  The one in Austin is at noon on the 30th.

Tell a friend.  Show up.  Be loud.  Make it a national story.  Keep the pressure on.  Fuck this fucking shit.

Maybe it does little good, but it certainly does more good than sitting on your couch talking about it on social media.

so, i guess this is normal:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/06/25/illegal-immigrant-detainees-will-be-housed-on-texas-military-bases-officials-say.html

Quote

Two U.S. military bases in Texas will be ordered by the Trump administration to house thousands of illegal immigrants who were detained crossing the southern border with Mexico, two U.S. officials tell Fox News.

The administration selected Fort Bliss and Goodfellow Air Force Base for the tent camps, Defense Secretary James Mattis confirmed during a Monday press conference.

"We'll provide whatever support the Department of Homeland Security needs in order to house the people that they have under their custody," Mattis said.

One of the bases will house both migrant adults and children, and the other will house only unaccompanied minors, according to one official.

Last week, the Pentagon agreed to house up to 20,000 unaccompanied minors after receiving a request from the Department of Health and Human Services. According to DHS, roughly 80 percent of children who come to the southern border arrive unaccompanied.

On Friday, the Pentagon said it was looking for bases to house adults as well. It considered three bases in Texas and one in Arkansas.
