Do laker fans think their window is open for a decade? LeBron is 34 not 24. The window is maybe 3 years and as of now this up coming season is a guaranteed no title. So they have two years. Until another star is signed all they have is LeBron and a bunch of all the sudden overrated scrubs.

They are confusing signing a young Shaq paired with baby Kobe with an old Lebron.

Seriously all the nba talking heads are acting like the lakers are back for good. They just signed a guy on the back 9 of his career. He’s gonna be more focused on retiring in LA and making a movie career than staying in shape to go pursue titles. Window is 3 years tops.

Active players who've made All-NBA 1st team, by current conf.:

Any team other than LAL offering anything remotely valuable for Kawhi should build plenty of provisions into the deal in case he pulls another fake injury bullshit and sits out 75% of the season until he is an UFA.

How would a franchise go about writing something like that..? Wouldn't the (past) CBA's oppose something like that being stuck in the contract..?

if GS is like half a billion $$ over the cap, i'm sure the Lakers can afford all the luxury tax.

Unlike the Warriors, the Lakers ownership isn't that wealthy.  Sure, the Buss family is 1%'ers, but they aren't fuck you rich.

Some of the "new blood" Laker fans have no knowledge of that, as they were probably still on Similac formula during that period, so all they have known is an aging Kobe with an over-rated cast of (comparative) scrubs as Ron Artest & Pau Gasol (eventually) replacing Shaq...

And it took Shaq 4 years before he won a title in LA.

Cousins holy shit.  GS wins it 2019 and 2020 then it blows up.  That's 5 of 6.

It's for $5.3 mil only.   Does he want a ring that badly???

so he gives up $10mill+ at least just for a ring???

Dumb Lebron you should have gone to Philly.

I honestly don't know what the league can do to stop this at this point. The SuperMax obviously didn't work, the soft salary cap didn't work, and with how large shoe contracts are, the salaries aren't even that important.

I'm guessing he was getting low ball offers based on his injury.   He figures get healthy, play a few months, show everyone he still has it, get a ring,  then get paid next summer.   Let's  see him healthy first though.

I want to see some torn ACLs, ruptured Achilles, and detached retinas in the City (tm) next year.  Lakers' next signings should be Rick Mahorn & Charles Oakley.

Wishing injuries is fucked up on any level. Have some neg, bitch

hard cap. no max salary next CBA. that's it.

New theory. There is a union-wide memo that tells all players to accept less, go to stacked teams, build a massive imbalance. This is all because the players are willing to give more power to owners for a larger slice of pie. They are using contracts and rules to create a massively imbalanced nba and for the owners to spread the wealth they will have to share with the players or teams will be sucked dry by lack of competition.

This is insane

Hard cap is the only way.  I don't  want that to happend though.

Even with no max salary, the players are making so much from outside of the league that it doesn't really matter. See Kawhi's situation and the rumors about the shoe companies pushing him to a bigger market.
