Here we go....

Trump is supposedly going to announce at 2pm today that we are out of the deal.  Apparently us staying in relied upon restrictions on nuclear fuel production after 2030.  We want them and Iran/allies don't.

Was this something Obama had a position on?

If yes, do the opposite.

Even if the rest of the civilized world and Trump's military and intelligence leaders think we should stay in the deal?

Trump and his followers show themselves to be more and more ignorant by the day.

Was originally against the deal, as it was heavily front-loaded with Iran benefits.  But they are a sunk cost and the idea of "snap back" sanctions are and forever will be a joke, we are better off staying in.

As to the lawsuit, I doubt the victim's families will ever see a dime

I didn't say it was a well thought out policy.

When will General Mattis get to weigh in?

He already has. Trump ignored him. He only listens to people on Fox news. And sadly, that is not a joke.

I mean after this announcement. I'm betting he's put in the deep freeze for a while.

What's the benefit of pulling out of this deal and letting Iran have nuclear weapons? Serious question.

This is as honest of a response I can think of: It pisses off Obama and liberals.

That is the crux of Trump's policy. No facts or logic behind it.

It doesn’t matter. Obama made the deal. That’s all that matters to this moron. It’s not like he ever fucking read the thing.

Maybe for Trump.  But not for the people directing him to do this.

i did find it vaguely amusing that he called his bro macron to break the news before announcing it to the rest of the world.

Trump is going to be pissed when he realizes Macron is no longer his bro.

Looks like Bolton, et al are leading us back to regime change policy. Do we have $3 Trillion and 10,000 18 year old lives to spare?

It's going to be more expensive in both dollars and lives this time.

No, this is all on Trump. It's definitely not a mainstream Republican position supported by the entire party's leadership. It's Trump. Because he is not a REAL Republican.

From what I have gathered, killing a few thousand lazy millennials is actually a positive to trump supporters

The only people that benefit are Israel, Saudi, the MIC, globalists in our government and hardliners in Iran.

It supports the case for war. Go to war with Iran late next year so it's still in its early stages and we're kicking ass with air superiority when the 2020 election rolls around. You'll get votes that way because our military kicking ass makes you popular and people don't want to change leadership while we're kicking ass. You can't invade too soon or you'll be stuck in the quagmire of occupation when you have no workable solution for a replacement government.

It's like Dubya and Iraq. He wasn't going to make the same mistake his dad did. Bush 41's popularity was through the roof during the war and if the turkey shoot had lasted until the election then he would've been reelected easily. There were those who wanted to invade Iraq by early 2002 but Dubya waited until a lot closer to the election. If George wasn't consciously aware of the political implications, Karl most certainly was and would've advised accordingly.

The Saudis and Israelis supported that foolishness too.

Awkward for the never-Trump crowd that incessantly excoriated this deal and vilified the Obama admin over it.

You're very good at writing quips that seem clever but that don't actually say anything.

It's actually not awkward at all. Sometimes blowing up a bad deal puts you in an even worse position than living with the bad deal. Trump always harps on the "cash" that we gave to Iran. Does he think we're getting that back by backing out of this deal? LOL

Likely unrelated to this. Israel has been bombing Iranian military assets in Syria for a couple weeks now. They are responding.

Either we attack first or goad them in to it.  It really doesn't fucking matter.  We're still fighting a pointless war.

Agree.  For all of trumps faults, the one thing he consistently does is move the cart forward.  Whether you like his positions or not, he rarely shied away from pushing the decision making process forward (DACA being the only one I can think of that hasn't moved).  Republicans have made a lot of hay by just being silent or not taking up an issue that they campaign on all year.  Trump is forcing them to take stands that they are terrified to take (just look at how many are retiring this year).  Repubs are either going to have to cut bait or fish with trump and the polls suggest that Trump is far more liked by republican voters than any other republican.  So repubs can either back him and trounce on the policies they vilified or they can back away from him and not be an elected official anymore.

It is a really unique thing to see play out and in my opinion is good to see play out because there isn't any hiding in the republican party at this point.

I'll bet I can guess the source of that intelligence. It may even be less than fifteen years old.
