THE MATCHUP—Texas concludes its 10-game homestand with a three-game weekend series against Abilene Christian. The only prior meeting between the programs took place last year, with the Longhorns coming out on top, 9-1. Kolby Kubichek pitched four shutout innings and allowed just one hit to record his second win of the season. The Longhorns took advantage of 12 walks issued by ACU pitching and scratched out nine hits. Murphy Stehly went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one run scored to lead Texas offensively. Austin Todd was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Zach Zubia was 1-for-3 with a solo homer. Eric Kennedy finished the day with a career-high three stolen bases.

A LOOK AT THE LONGHORNS—Texas heads into the weekend riding a 10-game winning streak, the program's longest since winning 21 consecutive games in 2010. The Longhorns are fresh off a two-game series sweep of Nevada at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, winning a pair of one-run contests, taking a 4-3 barn burner on Tuesday and outlasting the Wolf Pack for a 6-5 win on Tuesday. Both games featured stellar pitching performances for the Longhorns. On Tuesday, Tanner Witt earned the win in relief, striking out five batters in 2 2/3 innings of work. In Wednesday's contest, starter Pete Hansen pitched a career-high seven innings, allowing three runs on six hits, while walking one and striking out two. Texas is 27-5 over their last 32 games and holds a 10-2 mark in Big 12 play.

MAKING A BIG IMPRESSION—Ivan Melendez is on a tear that has never seen on the Forty Acres. The Big 12 Player of the Week and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Hitter of the Week is currently riding a 10-game hitting streak, which included a program-record six-game home run streak that culminated with a pair of bombs against Kansas State on Sunday. In the month of April, he is hitting .553 with seven doubles, seven home runs, 21 RBI and 13 runs scored. In that span, he has a .622 on-base percentage and 1.289 slugging percentage for an OPS of 1.911. For the season, Melendez ranks fourth in the Big 12 conference in batting average (.379), while he is tied for fifth in home runs (8) and tied for sixth in RBI (33). His .737 slugging percentage is third in the conference and .455 on-base percentage ranks fifth.

QUICKER THAN QUICK—Mike Antico leads the Big 12 Conference and is 10th nationally with 16 stolen bases. Eric Kennedy is right behind him with 14 steals to rank second in the conference and 20th in the nation. As a team, the Longhorns have swiped 50 bases, which is second in the conference and ranks 12th in the nation. Additionally, Kennedy uses his speed regularly to get on base with 18 infield singles, including 10 bunt hits this season. In his career he has 42 infield hits (22 bunts).

HILL COUNTRY—Tristan Stevens got it done on the bump last week against Kansas State, logging seven innings pitched and allowing just one run on 68 pitches to earn Big 12 Pitcher of the Week honors. The right-hander issued no free passes and allowed just one run on eight hits. Stevens had only three two-ball counts during the entire outing. It marked the fourth time this season that the junior did not allow a walk. On the season, Stevens ranks third in the conference with five wins, while his 1.49 walks allowed per nine innings is fifth.

HAMMER KEEPS HAMMERING—Cam Williams has crushed a co-team-leading eight home runs this season, including a pair from each side of the plate against Oklahoma on March 27. Williams currently leads the team in doubles (11) and ranks second in total bases (65), slugging percentage (.556) and OPS (.911) and third in RBI (28). Williams' eight home runs are tied for fifth in the Big 12 Conference and rank 55th nationally. His 11 doubles are fifth in the Big 12 and his 65 total bases are 13th.

THE ACE—Ty Madden has been brilliant this season, twice earning Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, including following his 14-strikeout, complete game shutout outing on March 5 against Houston. That performance also garnered nods as the NCBWA and Perfect Game National Pitcher of the Week, one of Collegiate Baseball's National Players of The Week and one of four nominees for the Golden Spikes Award Performance of the Week. Madden leads the Big 12 Conference in hits allowed per nine innings (5.40) and opponent batting average (.176). He ranks second in the Big 12 in innings pitched (53.1), third in ERA (1.69) and fourth in strike outs (57) and WHIP (0.94).

FLASHING THE LEATHER—Trey Faltine has been a human highlight reel this season, making the difficult look routine. The Longhorns shortstop leads the Big 12 with 114 assists and ranks eighth with 16 double plays while sporting a .970 fielding percentage in 164 chances.

HEAR 'EM—In partnership with Learfield IMG College, Texas games will be broadcast on the Austin Radio Network, primarily on 104.9 The Horn and AM 1260. Craig Way handles primary play-by-play duties alongside Roger Wallace.

WATCH 'EM—All of Texas' home games will be broadcast on Longhorn Network this season. The team of Keith Moreland and Greg Swindell will return to the booth to call the action.

7th is an odd place in the order for a hitter with Kennedy's skill set.

Lead off or the 2 hole makes the most sense. I like Daly leading off with Kennedy hitting 2nd. Good bunter, impossible to double up and he’s been squaring the ball up lately
